First "Decent" OU team

Blissey.jpg

Hello this is my first team that I actually win half the time with and thus I hope won't end up with a locked topic. It's a team ment to slowly kill off the opposing team with some entry hazards and some decent attacking ability. I feel that it's okay but it has some issues with Stall (Blissey) and other things that I can't figure out how to fix with my poor level of ability.

Anyways The team at a glance:

Latias.png

Latias (PURSUIT BAIT) (F) @ Expert Belt/Life Orb
Ability: Levitate
EVs: 4 HP/252 Spd/252 SAtk
Modest nature (+SAtk, -Atk)
- Draco Meteor
- Thunderbolt
- Surf
- Hidden Power Fire
After about 5 different Leads on this team I got annoyed and thought almost any other member of my team could do the job better than what I was trying. The Standard Scarf Latias in particular looked like it would be a far better lead for killing of common leads with just a item swap and replacing Trick with HP Fire. Needless to say with some assistance from Other members Latias can reliably take out leads like Azelf and Metagross for example and it redelie kills off the Scizors that come in thinking they will Pursuit or U-Turn into her Face with a suprising HP Fire. Trick Leads just turn her into the Scarf Latias we all know and have mixed feelings twoards. Roserade and Smeargle leads are problematic because I like keeeping Latias alive and unhindered to attack other threats with her wide coverage. Other Latias are the biggest threat to her because she always loses out speed wise.

Skarm-1.png

Skarmory (SINISTAR) (M) @ Shed Shell
Ability: Keen Eye
EVs: 252 HP/4 Atk/252 Def
Impish nature (+Def, -SAtk)
- Whirlwind
- Spikes
- Roost
- Brave Bird
This is Skarmory we all know and Hate him for his skill at walling our Physical Attacks. He ussually comes in right after Latias to set up Spikes ussually taking the opposing leads explosion handily. The set is incredibly basic and it does its job well allowing me to try and Phaze set-up and lay Hazards. Brave Bird is on here mainly because Taunt got annoying and I wanted to be able to do somthing instead of switch. He was the first thing to come in when I started using Latias as a lead.

Swampert.png

Swampert (I LIKE GRASS) (M) @ Leftovers
Ability: Torrent
EVs: 252 HP/4 Atk/252 Def
Relaxed nature (+Def, -Spd)
- Stealth Rock
- Ice Beam
- Earthquake
- Waterfall
Swampert along with Skarmory comes in early on to set up Rocks or save Latias from angry leads that like to explode in her face. He sets up Stealth Rock which is nearly Mandatory. EQ and Waterfall are there for STAB and Ice beam lets me hit annoying Flyers and Dragons for some damage. He is also quite the amazing T-Wave absorber that I like on this team because the risk of losing a move to Paralyisis hinders me greatly.

Rotom-C.png

Rotom-c (CUT CUT CUT) @ Leftovers
Ability: Levitate
EVs: 4 HP/252 Spd/252 SAtk
Timid nature (+Spd, -Atk)
- Hidden Power [Fighting]
- Shadow Ball
- Will-o-wisp
- Thunderbolt
Rotom is the teams Spin Blocker and Back-Up somewhat bulky Special attacker who can take out some threats other members of my team don't like to face. Despite the lack of Leaf Blade on the set I chose Rotom-C as a Psychological weapon to try and force oposing Swampert out. Will-o-wisp helps by crippling Phisical attackers and HP Fighting is for some annoying Steels and Tyranitar. Thunderbolt and Shadow Ball are for coverage and STAB. He was losing to other Rotom but it was due to a Massive EV failure which I think is fixed.

Scizor-1.png

Scizor (GENERIC SCIZOR) (M) @ Iron Plate
Ability: Technician
EVs: 252 Atk/4 Def/252 Spd
Adamant nature (+Atk, -SAtk)
- Superpower
- Bullet Punch
- Pursuit
- U-turn
This seems a CB Scizor to most opponents at first. I use this just like a standard CB Scizor to try and further that assumption. When they send in somthing expecting me to switch I can sometimes nab a suprise KO or if I still want to keep Scizors non Choice Ruse up I switch to play along with the opponent. I might want to change the set around A bit though I don't feel Scizor is living up to his full potential on my team. Would he be better as a SD varient for the team?

Blissey-1.png

Blissey (LOL SEPHIROTH) (F) @ Leftovers
Ability: Natural Cure
EVs: 252 HP/252 Def/4 SDef
Bold nature (+Def, -Atk)
- Counter
- Seismic Toss
- Wish
- Thunder Wave
A counter Blissey set made by Snorlaxe I saw while I was browsing Smogon. I was looking around and this looked funny enough to try and effective so I tried it out and I was pleased with the results. Blissey like Scizor attempts to get a suprise kill however Bissey has to use Counter. Due to the massive HP and Poor Defenses of Blissey any 30% damage attack will deal heavy damage to whatever thought they had an easy attack on Blissey. Thunder Wave and Wish help with Team support and help lure in attackers to try and take her down. I like this set but its probably too gimmicky and I want to know if I would be better off with a more Standard set.

Please be as honest as possible with this teams issues and problems but keep in mind I want to continue to use Latias as an Anti Lead when you make suggestions.

I seriously doubt the potential of your Latias lead. Let's see how it does against the top 10 most common leads:

Azelf: Azelf outspeeds Latias and often carries a Focus Sash, so it can always set up Stealth Rock, then Explode, so your Latias can't really stop it from doing much.

Metagross: Meteor Mash + Bullet Punch does a total of 93-110% to your Latias, meaning most of the time, Metagross beats Latias.

Swampert: Swampert always survives a Draco Meteor and can set up Stealth Rock.

Jirachi: It can set up Stealth Rock before Latias can hit it. It can also just U-turn dealing about 50% damage to Latias.

Aerodactyl: Same boat as Azelf, your Latias can't stop it from setting up Stealth Rock and hitting it with Stone Edge afterwards.

Infernape: Does well here. But Infernape will still hurt Latias a little with Fake Out and set up Stealth Rock.

Roserade: Roserade will survive an attack and Sleep Powder Latias, before setting up at least one layer of Toxic Spikes

Heatran: Latias won't kill Heatran with Surf if it has Expert Belt, and only has a small chance of killing it if it has Life Orb, Heatran will still get Stealth Rock up. Otherwise pretty good.

Tyranitar: Tyranitar can just use Payback to insta-kill Latias.

Gliscor: Latias picks off Gliscor most of the time with Surf.

So this means Latias only gets a complete advantage over one lead (possibly two leads). That means there's no real point in using Latias as a lead. I recommend you move Swampert to the lead slot and change the set to this.

Swampert @ Leftovers | Relaxed
252 HP / 4 Atk / 252 Def
Stealth Rock / Earthquake / Ice Beam / Protect

Swampert works well in the lead slot, as it can take most neutral attacks and easily set up Stealth Rock on Metagross, other Swampert, Jirachi, Infernape, Heatran and Tyranitar. An early Stealth Rock is very helpful for any team out there.

Also, Scizor shouldn't be running that much speed. The notable things you outspeed are Uxie and Tyranitar, the former who wouldn't be staying in on Scizor and the latter having excellent switch-ins to in the form of Skarmory and Swampert. Plus, you lose a large amount of bulk. A Timid Life Orb Latias can now 2HKO Scizor with Surf and Timid Life Orb Gengar 2HKOs with Focus Blast. I suggest that you change Scizor's EV spread to 162 HP / 180 Atk / 168 SpD. Scizor loves the extra bulk so it can easily come in on these foes and smash them with Bullet Punch, U-turn or Pursuit.

Your Rotom is pretty weird as well. It just looks like the standard defensive Rotom with an offensive EV spread. If you want an advantage over other Rotom while still crippling stuff, you should make your Rotom a Choice Scarfer.

Rotom-C @ Choice Scarf | Timid
4 HP / 252 SpA / 252 Spe
Thunderbolt / Shadow Ball / Leaf Storm / Trick

With this set, Rotom adds some much needed non-priority speed to your team, who is a tad weak to DD Gyarados and SD Lucario. Rotom can also cripple defensive Pokemon like Blissey and defensive Tyranitar with Trick as well.

Good luck with your team.

Hi. I have a few suggestions for your team that would make it better overall. The first thing to help improve versus stall is make your Rotom a RestTalk Variant. The reason being, when versus stall, the person who puts the most pressure on the opponent with Spikes generally wins. You will need a durable Spin-Blocker to do so, so you'll have reliable recovery. You will also be able to heal after countering Gyarados, Scizor, among others. Your current spread on Rotom won't survive Gyarados' Life Orb assaults, so here's the new set:

Rotom-C @ Leftovers
Timid l 252 HP/68 Def/ 188 Spd
Thunderbolt/ Will-o-Wisp/ Rest/ Sleep Talk

This spread ensures good bulk, and also to outspeed Adamant Lucario who you don't have a "great" counter for currently. You'll be able to WoW it before you get hit, and Thunderbolt it after. You'll also last a LOT longer in stall wars. The next thing I want you to do is change Skarmory's EV spread a bit to further aid with stall. Currently, your Skarm isn't outspeeding anything important on other stall teams, so you're going to want to run more speed to ensure you beat other Taunt Skarmory, RestTalk Gyarados, Blissey, and pretty much anything on hardcore stall. I want you to change the spread to Impish l 252 HP, 108 Spd, and 148 SpD. You'll have the most points total with an Impish nature, but you may want to run a Careful nature to boost your SpD even further. You don't need to invest in Defense because Skarmory already has a whopping 140 base, so you'll need SpD EV's to invest in its lackluster SpD. This will further boost your weapons against stall. On another note, I don't know why you have Latias as your lead, but it says you don't want it to be changed. I will further edit this later, seeing how Latias fares against the top 10 most common leads.

Big credits to Philip7086 for helping me with this! =3

Sprinkles forgot to mention to put Taunt over Brave Bird on your own Skarm. With that addition, and Rest on Rotom, you should be able to have a much easier time vs. stall teams. The idea is to shuffle stall Pokemon around, racking up the entry hazard damage, and Taunting Pokemon like Blissey and other Skarms to prevent them from healing. Then you will have Rotom to last much longer in matches vs. Stall, allowing you to keep your entry hazards out for a long time. GL with your team.
