First look at D/P

I probably should've read the topics here before posting, but I'd rather take my own shot first. I've heard the D/P metagame was offensive and my team is the opposite. I think I've got most things covered if I play it right. This team is probably for competitor as I've never been much of a hand-held pokemon sort of person.

Hippowdon@leftovers
max hp, lots of def, some SpDef
Impish Nature (+Def, -SpAtk)
slack off
earthquake
stealth rock
snow slide

Counters garchomp, tyranitar, and non hydro pump mence pretty well I think. Gets the stealthy rocks down quick.

Slowbro@leftovers
max hp, lots of defense, some SpDef
Bold Nature (+Def, - Atk)
Surf
light screen
Slack off
calm mind

Combats other waters, sets up a screen for the other memebers. The strategy of using light screen and psuedo passing it to cm suicune worked extremely well in RS and since Slowbro can set itself up I decided to try it.

Dusknoir@Leftovers
max hp, some defense, some SpDef, a little attack
Impish Nature (+Def, -SpAtk)
will-o-wisp
shadow punch
thunderpunch
pain split

Covers gyara, spinners, takes fighting attacks...

Skarmory@Leftovers
max HP, some def, lots of SpDef
Impish Nature (+Def, -SpAtk)
Spikes
Whirlwind
Feather Rest
Drill Peck

Takes a lot of physical threats, lays the spikes, toxics stuff, etc

Celebi@Leftovers
max hp, lots of SpDef, some def
Calm Nature (+SpDef, -Atk)
Reflect
Psychic
recover
leech seed

heals the team, forces switches, helps take on swampert and ice fangless gyarados, takes on gengar and waters too.

Blissey@Leftovers
Max hp, max def
Calm Nature (+SpDef, -Atk)
Aromatherapy
Seismic Toss
Thunder Wave
Softboiled

Mainly for Raikou, Azlef, CG things, Schemers get t-waved and tossed to death.

Well I heard we needed a threat list for these RMTs so I've done my research and:

Garchomp - Hippowdon, Celebi
Tar - Hippowdon, resistances
Gyarados- Dusknoir, Skarmory
Infernape - Slowbro
Gengar - Celebi, Dusknoir
Azlef - light screen+ dusknoir, celebi, bliss too
Heracross - skarmory+dusknoir
PorygonZ - Dusknoir+skarm+hippo
Electivire - Light screen+ Celebi
Swampert - Celebi, Slowbro
Togekiss - Dusknoir/Skarm/Hippo?
Weavile - Light Screen/Reflect + Skarm/Dusknoir/Blissey
Salamence - Hippowdon
Snorlax - Skarm+Dusknoir+Celebi
Heatran - Slowbro, Hippowdon
Raikou - Light screen+Blissey/Hippo

I think that covers threats in DP ou...

P.S. Thanks for answering my question on irc Misty!!!

Why leave Skarmory vulnerable to Magnezone? Might as well go with Beautiful Skin and add Feather Rest over Toxic, seeing as how Skarmory is too important to your team to get trapped and killed so easily.

Also, Slack Off over Rest on Slowbro, no sense in leaving him vulnerable like that when he gets one turn recovery in DP.

Gengar - Celebi, Dusknoir

Both of these are beaten by STAB Shadow Ball, btw.

PorygonZ - Dusknoir+skarm+hippo

How do any of these counter PorygonZ? Scheme/Thunderbolt/Ice Beam/Hyper Beam beats everything on your team, unless you sacrifice Blissey and kill it while it recharges.

Infernape - Slowbro

Mixed Infernape will probably kill Slowbro after a Scheme with Grass Rope, then kill everything else on the team, although Hippowdown will probably survive one hit.

Gyarados- Dusknoir, Skarmory

Skarmory doesn't counter Gyarados anymore, Taunt will stop your Toxic/Roar and Steel Wing is lol. Dusknoir is good with Thunderpunch, though.

Azlef - light screen+ dusknoir, celebi, bliss too

Slowbro is not going to get a Light Screen in if Azelf comes in as it's going to be OHKO'd by Grass Rope. Celebi will be killed by Flamethrower, although Dusknoir could probably scare it off and so could Blissey if it's not running Explosion. You'll need to EV Dusknoir to OHKO Azelf with Shadow Punch, which might take a bit of EVs.

Togekiss - Dusknoir/Skarm/Hippo?

Togekiss will just BP Schemes out of Dusknoir/Hippowdown, and Skarmory won't like taking boosted special attacks, especially since Togekiss could be running Flamethrower. Schemed Air Slash with 60% flinch isn't nice either.

forgot about both of those moves...I'm leaving skarm with lefties because I think most people will expect skarm to carry beautiful skin and not bother using magzone anyway, the lefties recovery is too good to pass up also.

Yeah, your counters list is a bit off. Despite that, your team is pretty soild. Mixed Infernape seems to be your only real problem. Thankfully, it's got problems coming in on the majority of your team. You've got Light Screen support, but if it gets in when you don't have it up - expect problems. Hippowdon and Slowbro crap all over the physical versions though.

Hippowdon can't learn Snow Slide, I ran into this same problem with mine. Because of this it does not make a Garchomp counter at all, Garchomp will kill it before Hippowdown can finish it with Ice Fang, though it does get Garchomp low. That said, Hippowdon is still a great pokemon and good defensive wall.

I question the wisdom of Will-o-Wisp on Dusknoir in this generation. It's just begging a Heracross switch-in, and Heracross will absolutely destroy you if it gets burned. Skarmory is most certainly not a Heracross counter anymore, it gets 2HKOed by In-Fight.

Update your descriptions, man lol

I'm not comfortable with Ice Beamless Blissey... if Slowbro had Ice Beam I would be more comfortable about Garchomp.

Man, this team seems like it would be an absolute dick to face, with everything having 50% recovery moves... Your biggest problem might me that Dusknoir is a bit vulnerable to Pursuit, at which point Gyarados is a pretty big problem. Then again, you should be able to give it trouble against any set - Waterfall is needed for Hippo/Skarm, Taunt is needed for Celebi, Earthquake for Bro, and obviously DD... I dunno how common that set will be, though.

Hehe, this is just like my team!

Except Celebi over miscelaneous flier (Gyara, Mence or Zapdos).

I think you probably need ice beam on Bliss.. I am afraid to say it but I would suggest having it over aromatherapy. You will just have to be damn careful about status. That being said, unless you plan on sticking around with them, most recoverers can deal with Toxic at least in a short term. But I cant imagine you being able to beat any Gengar without it.

Have a nice day.

I don't think you have one hard hitting power boosting fast sweeper. Rather you got 6 stallish pokemons, forming a stall team. I am now sure how long you can stall and chip with good predition.

I really dont think this will work. Nothing is providing damage and after another Dusknoir is done so is the team.

About the beautiful skin stuff, IMO you should initially be using it but when dp has been out for a few months duggys and magnezones will be pretty much never used allowing the return of lefties
