First Mono-Water Team [OU]

I wanted to build a Water-Mono Type. Not only because Waters tend to be bulky, offensive, or a little of both, but because water is my second favorite pokemon type, next to grass. And, my sig is invalid now because Kingdra is on my team, finally! Anyway, the team

CHANGES IN BOLD RED
In-Depth View:
The Lead

Swampert@Leftovers
Ability: Torrent
Nature: Relaxed
EVs:4Atk/252HP/252Def
Moves:
Stealth Rock
Roar
Ice Beam
Earthquake
Description: Okay. So i wanted to start things out with one weakness. Since this is a water mono-type, expect a grass weakness. This lead isn't actually a suicide lead. It can play the role of a pseudo-hazer, with roar. Roar not only helps PHaze but also complements Stealth Rock and Tentacruel's T-Spikes. Ice Beam, though unsure of it, can sure dent some specially-weak pokemon. Earthquake is for a STAB and powerful move.

The Wish-Passer
vaporeon.gif

Vaporeon@Leftovers
Ability: Water Absorb
Nature: Bold
EVs: 188HP/252Def/68Spe
Moves:
Wish
Hidden Power Electric
Protect
Surf
Description: Vaporeon acts as a good Wish-passer because of its special bulk and large HP amount. Wish complements my whole team. My team isn't all that built around offense, yet all of them lack a recovery move. Wish patches this up. Protect helps Vaporeon heal itself and stall if the foe is inflicted with burn or poison. Surf to provide a little attacking power, and with 110 Spec Attack, it can pull of some damage. HP-electric to scare off suicune, opposing vaporeon, and gyarados.

The Specially Defensive Spinner
911.jpg

Tentacruel@Black Sludge
Nature: Calm
Ability: Liquid Ooze
EVs:252HP/136SpDef/120Def
Moves:
Rapid Spin
Surf
Sludge Bomb
Toxic Spikes
Description: Tentacruel may not have Claydol's Levitate and SR resistance, but Tentacruel can still prove to be an effective spinner because it absorbs poison. I use Surf for a powerful STAB move and to give Ground types which give Tentacruel a problem a warning when switching in to Tentacruel. I used Sludge Bomb for STAB also but I mainly use it to cover Grass types which gives my team a ridiculously large problem. Toxic Spikes as an Entry Hazard and Rapid Spin to spin away theirs.

The Penguin
Empoleon@Petaya Berry
Nature: Modest
Ability: Torrent
EVs: 12HP/12Def/252SpAtk/232Spe
Moves:
Surf
Substitute
Agility
Grass Knot
(Another bluewooper suggestion)

The Element of Surprise

Suicune@Leftovers
Ability: Pressure
Nature: Bold
EVs: 252HP/252Def/4Spe
Moves:
Rest
Calm Mind
Surf
Sleep Talk
Description: This pokemon has been recommended by bluewooper.

The Wildcard
Roserade @ Life Orb
Nature: Modest
Ability: Natural Cure
EVs: 4HP/252SpA/252Spe
Moves:
Sludge Bomb
Energy Ball
Sleep Powder
HP Ground
(A pokerama suggestion)

Hello Kingdra22. I am responding to thine PM.

I have made several mono-type teams in the past. It is necessary to have a resistance to every type. Your team have five types without resistances. Grass, Psychic, Dark, Ghost, and Dragon are all types your team can have trouble with. This opens up many holes for a CB Tyranitar's Crunch, stray Draco Meteors will hurt this team, Gengar has opportunities to outspeed every pokemon on your team with shadow ball, the list can go on. I noticed that Empoleon provides a resistance to four of these five types. I have also noted that Kingdra is not doing much to help your team.
Why Kingdra? Kindra is generally an offensive pokemon. Due to the fact that your team has incredible bulk due to the fact that it is filled with bulky waters, Kingdra does not fit the team too well. Kingdra can easily be stopped by a Thunderwave, or even a CB Scizor U-turn. Scarf Latias can be a huge threat to it also. Empoleon will still provide your team with a powerful setup sweeper, who can help support your Suicune sweep.

Empoleon.png

Empoleon @ Petaya Berry | Torrent
Modest: 12Hp / 12Def / 252SpA / 232Spe
Substitute / Agility / Surf / Grass Knot

Pros:
Empoleon is a bulky pokemon who provides four resistances to your team that you have previously lacked. SubPetaya Empoleon has a useful set of 12 resistances and immunities, which means he will have little trouble coming in and setting up. Empoleon is a great abuser of Toxic Spikes. Why? Empoleon usually runs a set of Ice Beam and Surf/Hydro Pump. Bulky waters usually come in on empoleon in hopes to wall him. Toxic Spikes hit these bulky waters, such as Vaporeon and Suicune. Grass Knot is chosen over Ice Beam because the goal of your team is to support a CM Suicune sweep. Both Subpetaya and Suicune draw Bulky waters, which make them good teammates.

Cons:
Empoleon unfortunately brings some bad things to the table. Most importantly, Empoleon provides a disgusting 4th weakness to Electricity. This means you must keep Swampert alive via Wish Support. Additionally, Empoleon provides a second ground weakness, which can cause problems if Rotom-h falls to Tyranitar. Finally, you lose a good Mixape counter. Never fear, as Vaporeon receives a simple 3HKO from Close combat from the standard mixape.

With this in mind, let's take a look at Suicune.

Suicune:
I believe that CroCune will help you reach your goal better, which is to support a Suicune Sweep. Crocune works very well with SubPetaya Empoleon, for the reasons I have stated Earlier. Vaporeon, Crocune's best counter, will usually be removed or severely weakened by Toxic Spikes by the time Suicune comes in to Calm Mind. A simple set of Bold: 252Hp / 252Def / 4Spe will maximize Suicune's physical defenses. This will retain maximum bulkyness as he raises his Special Defense with Calm Mind. A set of Calm Mind / Rest / Sleep Talk / Surf will allow Suicune to avoid nagging status problems, like Poison, while recovering Hp. Obviously, Leftovers is the prefered item.

Pros:
With this new set, Suicune will reach nearly impenetrable defenses, if allowed two Calm Minds. Suicune will now be able to absorb status for the team, something he couldn't do before. CroCune in conjunction with Empoleon and Toxic Spikes will be able to eliminate any Bulky water. Suicune now has a reliable source of recovery Via rest and Sleep talk.

Cons:
Suicune will lose a lot immediate power, which means that there are some pokemon who can hinder Suicune's setup. Gyarados cannot be dealt with easily, as it can Dragon Dance and become a potential threat. Dragons are now only checked by Swampert, who (and I will say this as often as needed) must stay alive for this team to remain intact. Suicune will be more maimed by Trick now.

Now, for a closer look at your wild card:

Rotom-h:
You will need to have a check and counter to certain set up sweepers, like Salamence and Gyarados. I recommend this set, as you will now be able to check many threats that you could not have done in the past:

Gengar.png

Gengar @ Choice Scarf | Levitate
Timid: 4Hp / 252SpA / 252Spe
Shadow Ball / Thunderbolt / Focus Blast / Hidden Power Ice

Pros:
Gengar will provide you with a reliable check to Salamence, Tyranitar, and Gyarados. These pokemon have been known as ferocious setup sweepers. Thunderbolt will ensure a KO against Gyarados, as the dicey Focus Blast will KO Tyranitar, if it hits. Hidden Power Ice is your strongest move against Salamence instantly KOing it. The grass types that you fear are maimed with Hidden Power Ice. Gengar still acts as a Spin Blocker. Gengar will appreciate wishes, as he has no form of recovery, and will switch in a lot.

Cons:
There are not too many things that Rotom-h can do that Gengar cannot. Rotom-A has more bulk that Gengar has, and will be able to inflict status. Rotom-H also has a more impressive move to deal with Grass Types.

I like the look of your team, and I hope you are successful with it!

Rotom-H cannot be replaced by a Choice Scarf Gengar because it would take away the team's only Scizor check. Without it, the number one used Pokemon will surely cause a lot of problems. You don't revenge kill Salamence like Gengar but Mence is already covered by Swampert with Ice Beam and Stealth Rock damage racked up. Gyarados is also pretty much handled very easily by Vaporeon with HP Electric and Rotom-H to an extent. Tyranitar is not even a problem with Swampert on the team. With Wish support, Swampert will easily counter both Salamence and Tyranitar with ease while Vaporeon counters DD Gyarados. The Scarf Gengar suggestion is useless to sum it up, keep Rotom-H for sure as it provides a Scizor counter that Gengar aggravates instead of improving the team.

I have nothing to bring to the table because I know nothing about Mono-type teams, just pointing out that Rotom-H must not go.

Tentacruel-maybe switching sludge bomb for knock off would add to the toxic damage.
Rotom-switch to something that resist electric and grass, maybe roserade w/lo set to give you your own way to deal with water types.

i cant offer much more insight, due to my lack of mono team knowledge, but i hope i helped in some way :]

For your wildcard, you should consider as grass type, as they resist electric and grass, which your team is very weak too. Scarfbreloom can sleep stuff ect, and celebi also provides variability with many sets to fit what the team needs, with a psychic resistance to boot.

Dragon types go unresisted, so an Empoleon can provide that resistance without taking up the wildcard spot

Thanks for your input! I will try these.

I think Empoleon will be a check to Scizor. Petaya+Agility, in my opinion, can be very deadly for a Scizor, as double steel resistance means that it can't easily OHKO with Bullet Punch. I'll try replacing Rotom-h with LO Roserade first and then switch to Gengar if it doesn't work. If Empoleon still doesn't give a primary Scizor check and Gengar still doesn't work, I'll try keeping Rotom-H.

Thanks for the input, by the way. :)

Tentacruel-maybe switching sludge bomb for knock off would add to the toxic damage.

Sludge Bomb, unfortunately, is my primary check to grass-types. I can't afford to lose it :/ I'll try LO Roserade, however.

Thanks for your input! :)

I will try the Roserade suggestion above. If it works, I'm taking it. If it doesn't Ill try yours.

Thanks for your input! :)

You need to write descriptions for the three new Pokemon you've included onto the team. PM me once you've done so and I'll unlock your thread.
