First OU RMT (Balanced)

Hi. I've played with this team for a few weeks now with some success. I win most of my matches and usually only lose due to missed predictions and occasional bad luck. RMT please!

The Lead
aerodactyl.png

Aerodactyl @ Focus sash
Naive / Pressure
4 HP/ 252 Attack/ 252 Speed
-Earthquake
-Stone-edge
-Taunt
-Stealth Rock

Aerodactyl is for setting up stealth rock or stopping the opponent from setting up. If the other guy attacks when I taunt, I will either set up SR after or switch to one of my other pokemon to take them. After SR is out, I save him to dodge ground moves as well as dishing out extra damage before becoming death fodder.

The Special Wall
Blissey.bmp

Blissey @ Leftovers
Bold / Natural Cure
148 HP/ 252 Defense/ 110
-Softboiled
-Ice beam
-Seismic Toss
-Thunder Wave

Blissey completely tanks special attacks. She can wear down an opponent with Stoss and ice beam. TWave support is extremely important to stop my enemy from sweeping. When I'm faced with something that can OHKO bliss, I switch to dusknoir, who can take the attack and wisp them. Then I can pretty much switch into anything else that can fight it, or stay in if dusknoir can take them himself. She packs ice beam to hit those common Salamences and other 4x weak to ice pokemon as well as ghosts who avoid Seismic toss.

The Tank

Dusknoir @ Leftovers
Impish / Pressure
252 HP/ 54 Def/ 204 Special Def
-Will-o-Wisp
-Shadow Sneak
-Ice Punch
-Pain Split

My use of dusknoir is mainly to help out blissey as well spread status. He can completely handicap a physical sweeper. When fighting something that can't 2HKO him, I like to keep pain-splitting until they are in kill range for shadow sneak- which can catch my opponent off-guard. I sometimes have trouble with Lucario if my wisp misses. If I survive the crunch and wisp misses, then Lucario can start sweeping my team.
Dusknoir packs ice punch for the same reason as why bliss carries ice beam. With dusknoir, however, many people don't expect it and lose a valuable pokemon because of this move. Revenge killing is also a possibility with STAB sneak.

The Spinner
starmie.jpg

Starmie @ Leftovers
Timid / Natural Cure
136 HP/ 156 Def/ 216 Speed
-Surf
-Rapid Spin
-Recover
-Thunderbolt

Starmie provides spin support. With decent defenses and recover, it can spin, recover, and switch out. Starmie, along with blissey, can take status and hit back. As rapid spin is a pretty predictable move on starmie, my opponent usually counters with rotom. If they block my spin, I switch to take the shadow ball with blissey. Then I eventually bring in Starmie again on a non-ghost and spin/predict the rotom switch and use surf instead.

The MixApe
large_preview.jpg

Infernape @ Expert Belt
Naive/ Blaze
64 Atk / 252 SpA / 192 Spe
-Flamethrower
-Nasty Plot
-Close Combat
-Grass knot

I tried life orb but hate the recoil damage. With expert belt, I do less damage but can survive a bit longer. I usually don't bring him in until later in the game to learn what my opponent's team can do and avoid status. I bring him in to scare something away and then Nasty Plot. He can then finish off what's left with his boosted moves.

The Other Attacker
metagross.jpg

Metagross @ Leftovers
Adamant/ Clear Body
252 HP / 248 Atk / 8 Spe
-Bullet Punch
-Explosion
-Meteor-Mash
-Earthquake

I have Metagross because of its high attack and defenses. It's a pretty versatile pokemon that can revenge-kill with bullet punch, explode on things that my team can't handle (like SD lucario), EQ and Mash everything else. I originally used CB but disliked being stuck on one move. I then used life orb but the recoil damage made metagross a lot more fragile. Leftovers is to help him take hits better. I moved 12 def EVs to attack to make him hit a little bit harder.

Well that's the team. Suggestions and feedback are helpful!

This team is ridiculously weak to SD Lucario, after a single SD it can literally OHKO every member of your team. Adding a Pokemon like Gliscor would solve this problem and would give you a needed ground immunity as well. So:

Gliscor@leftovers
nature: jolly
EVs: 252 HP / 40 Def / 216 Spe
-earthquake
-roost
-taunt
-u-turn / stone edge

this Gliscor is an excellent stall breaker with taunt and u-turn and would fit nicely into your team. It would also help with Scizor's u-turns which can actually hurt your team too. The speed EVs and a jolly nature are to outspeed even jolly Lucario, which often carry ice punch.

Oh, and definitely use life orb on and fire blast Infernape, the boost in power is needed to score some important OHKO and will help a lot to hurt pokemon that you can't hit for SE damage - for example Salamence is usually 2hko'd by fire blast even without the NP boost.

Replace what with Gliscor? o_O

This team will also have issues with the following: DDMence, DDGyara, DDTar, Agility Metagross and the aforementioned Lucario. There's no possible way to actually counter all 5 of these but you can come really close. Add in Cresselia over Dusknoir, and MAKE SURE it has both Reflect and Thunder Wave. With that, you can slow down and cripple all but Tyranitar.

Along with that, Lucario still can put a hurting to Cresselia so if we go with that Gliscor, add it over Aerodactyl, and have it have Stealth Rock. This surely improves the defense by a lot. But the thing is, where's the offense?

Let's assume the core right now is Gliscor, Cresselia, Blissey and Starmie. It's quite bulky and very quickly leading to a stall team, so let's change that up. First I'd add in a CBTar, just rape the shit out of things via hard hitting. If Scizor or Lucario wants to come in after you Pursuit/Crunch, no worries, Gliscor and Cresselia are there. As for the last Poke, I'd like Mixmence in there, as it'll just tear up a lot of shit. With Blissey and Cresselia Thunder Waving quite a few things, and the bulk you have, the lack of super speed isn't as necessary so you can possible get away with this.

Thanks for the suggestions guys.

@Aeroblacktyl
I generally don't find DDMence as that big a threat as Dusknoir can usually one hit it with ice punch or ice punch and then sneak to kill. DDGyara is somewhat of a threat when it gets too many DDs up. Otherwise, Dusknoir can burn it and Starmie can usually scare it away with thunderbolt. I like Dusknoir because of his ability to burn things. I'll try out Cresselia though.

I like the idea of CBTar as I'm lacking a lot of offense. I might replace Metagross with him. Gross can't really do much right now except explode on things.
I might try out mixmence in place of Infernape to see how things go.

Gliscor also seems like a good choice for a lead. Aerodactyl was pretty replaceable and Gliscor fits its spot nicely. Thanks!

Problems:

DD Salamence
DD Tyranitar

How to fix:

Salamence can easily thow in DD since the team itself might fear Salamence, thus forcing you to switch-out. What you need to do is make Metagross a physical wall, which is severely underated. The EV spread for Metagross is 252 HP / 252 Def / 6 Atk with the moveset Meteor Mash / Earthquake / Reflect / Explosion. This is a great check to DD Salamence and can take any hits and survive any othem. Reflect is the crux of the set, which lets you hamper physical hits from the opponent and help the team overall. Meteor Mash / Earthquake boasts good coverage overall, so defenitley go for that. Explosion compensates for the lack of recovery you have, using it when your health is really low, racking yourself a free kill or taking a huge chunk out of the hp.

Now that you got that patched up, DD Tyranitar is a problem. Aerodactly doesn't need a place for a balanced team because its usually a better option for offense team. Give Swampert a go:

Swampert
@ Leftovers
Relaxed Nature (Def+ / Spe-)
252 Hp / 252 Def / 6 SpA

- ice Beam
- Earthquake
- Roar
- Stealth Rock

This is a great replacement for many reasons: ensures you check CB Tyranitar. (Can take up to 3-4 boosted Crunchs and simply KO with Earthqauek) and have a reliable Sr early in the match. Earthquake + Ice Beam is for good coverage. Ice Beam will nail Salamence if Metagross is dead while having a really high chance of surviving Outrage. Roar is great for scouting and racking up SR damage.

Now that we have 2 threats patched up, defenitley go for a Timid Scarf Rotom with the EV 252 HP / 252 Spe / 6 Spa and movesets Overheat / Thunderbolt / Trick / Shadow Ball. This ensures Lucario doesnt sweep the team while you outspeed it and kill it with Overheat. It also acts as a good check to Gyarados once Starmie goes down. Trick makes sure you get an easier time with Stall.

Overall, thats it gl, hope you take this in consideration.
