Greetings everyone,
I'm attempting to create a balanced team that I can use to take on any threat. This team really don't have a gimmick to build around like trick room, but I'm hoping that I can make it a better all-purpose team since I don't have to rely on things like that to set up. However, I realize that it's far from perfect at the moment, and I'm eagerly looking forward to having you all tear it down.
The mons:
1) Mega-Metagross
Nature: Jolly
Ability: Tough Claws
Evs: 252 Speed, 252 Attack, 4 HP
Item: Metagrossite
Moveset: EQ, Meteor Mash, Ice Punch, Zen Headbutt
Megagross is the main core to my team and the starting pokemon that I based it on. I love the steel typing and the bulk he has to switch into attacks/rocks without caring. For the moveset, I went with EQ to hit Heatran and Ferroseed particularly hard and I went with Ice Punch to KO Lando-T.
2) Starmie
Nature: Timid
Ability: Natural Cure
Evs: 232 HP, 24 Sp.Def, 252 Speed
Item: Leftovers
Moveset: Scald, Psyshock, Recover, Rapid Spin
Recommended to me below. The hope is to provide a safe switch in for Keldeo while giving me a spinner for my Talonflame.
3) Breloom
Nature: jolly
Ability: Technician
Evs: 252 Speed, 252 Attack, 4 HP
Item: Life Orb
Moveset: Spore, Swords Dance, Mach Punch, Bullet Seed
My next thought was for something to counter sandstorm/rain teams. Excadrill in particular was a fear of mine due to the speed boost. Thus, I settled on Breloom since it would provide physical support to Milotic's special. The set is pretty standard, and I've been using it to counter Ferrothorn as well. Nothing really wants to get spored on a switch-in to setup Breloom.
4) Talonflame
Nature: Adamant
Ability: Gale Wings
Evs: 252 Speed, 252 Attack, 4 HP
Item: Sharp Beak
Moveset: Brave Bird, Flare Blitz, Taunt, Roost
Talonflame fills the role of checking opposing Breloom and giving me some nice priority to hit opposing Grass or Fighting types. I didn't really have anything in particular in mind outside Breloom when I made this, but nothing really wants to take a priority Brave Bird to the face other than Mega-Slowbro. Taunt is just there for a bit of flexibility, allowing me to slow down enemy trick room and burn physical threats.
5) Clefable
Nature: Bold
Ability: Magic Guard
Evs: 252 Def, 252 HP, 4 Sp.Def
Item: Life Orb
Moveset: Calm Mind, Soft-Boiled, Moon Blast, Flamethrower
I decided to go a bit more offensive on my Clefable, choosing to go with a Life Orb over leftovers. However, the bulk setup here still provides ample coverage to setup a calm mind or just take an outright hit and retaliate with a strong shot of my own.
6) Garchomp
Nature: Jolly
Ability: Rough Skin
Evs: 252 Spd, 252 Attack, 4 Sp.Def
Item: Focus Sash
Moveset: Stealth Rock, Earthquake, Outrage, Swords Dance
Garchomp is here to nullify electric types and potentially switch in on opponent twaves. The stealth rock setup is also quite nice and he can potentially lead as well, setting up with swords dance if the opponent chooses the wrong pokemon. Regardless, the focus sash at least assures me a set of stealth rocks.
