First RMT

Hello, I'm Lucario77 and i'm doing my First RMT here on smogon, i've been thinking and i need alot of help on my team, so any suggestions would ne fine.

Team At A Glance:

150px-Azelf.png

Azelf @ Focus Sash
Ability: Levitate
EVs: 4 Atk / 252 SpA / 252 Spe
Timid nature (+Spd, -Atk)
-Stealth Rock
-Fire Blast
-Psychic
-Explosion

Azelf is the kind of lead I have been looking for. his lead set is truly amazing. Stealth Rock is a must for this team. I use Psychic on leads such as Aero who would taunt me, and for STAB to get other leads such as Infernape. Fire Blast is for those steel type pokes (besides heatran) and roserade who I have been facing more and more lately. After the job is done Expolsion make sure i take out one poke.

celebi.jpg

Celebi @ Leftovers
Ability: Natural Cure
Evs: 252 HP / 220 Def / 36 Spe
Bold Nature ( +def, -atk)
-Grass Knot
-Recover
-Heal Bell
-Thunder Wave

A cleric poke is just what this team needs. After testing all pokes, Celebi came to my attention. Celebi serves as a great physical bulky wall. Thunder wave cripples all physical sweepers. Grass Knot for STAB and does lots of damage to gyarados. Heal Bell is used to get rid of status of my entire team. Recover make sure Celebi lives longer and keeps her going.

120px-Lanturn.png

Lanturn @ leftovers
Ability: Volt absorb
EVs: 40 HP / 76 Def / 140 SpA / 252 SpD
Calm nature ( +spdef, -atk)
-Surf
-Thunderbolt
-Toxic
-Ice Beam

Lanturn is a fantastic pokemon to use. She makes a great special wall and provides great synergy with celebi. Surf and thunderbolt is for STAB, and lets me handle those bulky water pokes who think they can wall me. Toxic allows me to hender those bulky walls such as blissey, snorlax (if he doesnt have the ability impunity) and so on. Ice Beam deals with the dragons.

anime212.jpg

Scizor @ Choice Band
Ability:Technican
Evs: 248 HP / 252 Atk / 8 Spe
Adamant Nature (+atk, -spatk)
-U-Turn
-Bullet Punch
-Pursuit
-Superpower

Scizor makes a great revenge killer. With the ability technican, 3 of four of his moves gets a boost. Bullet Punch lets me get those pokes that are weakened. U-Turn is for scouting in case I fear a magnezone coming in, and denting pokes who doesnt resist it. Pursuit lets me kill pokes that try to flee such as gengar, starmie. Superpower lets OHKO blissey and tyranitar.

Latias.png

Latias @ Choice Scarf
Ability:Levitate
EVs: 4 HP / 252 SpA / 252 Spe
Timid Nature ( +speed, -atk)
-Surf
-Thunderbolt
-Draco Meter
-Trick

Latias makes a fantastic revenge killer and sp atker. Surf lets me attack those steel types who wall this set otherwise. Thunderbolt also lets me hit Empoleon who would take netural damage from this set. Draco Meter is for STAB and lets me hit physical walls as well as bulky waters for good damage. Trick lets me cripple walls who gives my team trouble.

Hitmonlee.png

Hitmonlee @ Life Orb
Ability: Limber
EVs: 4 HP / 252 Atk / 252 Spe
Jolly nature (+speed, -spatk)
-Sucker Punch
-Close Combat
-Fake Out
-Blaze Kick

Hitmonlee was always my favorite pokemon. The new generation has really been good to him. So I chose him and decided he should be my physical sweeper. Sucker Punch lets me get those psychic pokes who think they can get me. Close Combat is for STAB and lets me dent anything that doesn't resist it. Blaze kick lets me hit those bulky grass types, and scizor. Fake out allows me to get a free hit in, also making the poke flinch.

So, thats my first RMT, and if you have any suggestions, please feel free to list them. Thank you for helping me with my team.

Your team isn’t bad but has a few problems.

Azelf is a great lead. He is fine just the way he is. Celebi is also good. One correction, Grass Knot does not do a lot of damage to Gyrados, it hurts Swampert more. Scizor is also great.

The first problem I see is that you have 3 pokemon who are weak to Ghost and Dark type moves: Azelf, Celebi, and Latias. Of the three, I suggest replacing Latias with either Flygon or Salamence. Both can use a Scarf pretty well. If you are keeping a Scarf, I suggest Flygon, but it is your personal preference. Since your team isn’t weak to Stealth Rock, it isn’t bad that Salamence will be weak. Here are Sets for both of them.

Flygon @Choice Scarf
Nature: Jolly/Adamant
EVs: 4 HP / 252 Atk / 252 Speed
-Earthquake
-U-Turn
-Dragon Claw/Outrage
-Stone Edge/ Fire Blast

Salamence @ Choice Scarf
Nature: Naughty
EVs: 252 Atk / 80 Sp Atk / 176 Speed
-Outrage/Dragon Claw
-Earthquake
-Fire Blast
-Hydro Pump

Instead of Lanturn, I recommend a bulky Swampert. Swampert might not resist as much, but he has better defences (but less HP). He also has a higher attack. A set that comes to mind is CursePert.

Swampert @ Leftover/Chesto Berry
Nature: Careful
EVs: 252 HP / 40 Def / 216 SpD
-Curse
-Earthquake
-Avalanche/Stone Edge
-Rest/Waterfall

Hitmonlee is a sweet sweeper, especially with his great Atk. His only downfall is his Def, but that’s not major. I think you should replace Fake Out with Stone Edge or Earthquake. Fake Out isn’t needed, and the other two are both great attacks that will make sweeping easier for him. I have never seen anyone use him but now that I see him on your team, he looks great J

The biggest thing is the Ghost and Dark weakness. As I said, the best way to fix it is replace Latias with either Flygon or Salamence. Other than that changes are mostly minor. I hope I was helpful to you. Have fun battling!

In addition to the Ghost/Dark weakness Jolteon17 pointed out, those three are also weak to Bug types. Putting in Salamence would reduce the Ghost/Dark vulnerabilities of your team, plus giving you another handy Bug resistance and a Ground Immunity to support Scizor and Lanturn if you decide to keep him. Scizor is a fantastic revenge killer, so another isn't really all that necessary, i would suggest a DDmence (right off of the strategy dex.)
Salamence @ Life Orb
Naive or Naughty 232 Atk / 24 SpA / 252 Spe
Dragon Dance
Outrage
Earthquake
Fire Blast
He gives your team a little set up potential if your opponent gives you an oppurtunity. Example, if scizor gets picked off by Magnezone using HP fire after a revenge kill, you can bring in mence, get a dance off and wreck a poke or two, maybe even sweep.
Good luck out there!

I see what you are saying, the swamp also looks good, i'll switch lanturn out for him, and i'll try out both dragons to see which fits me best, also i will switch out fake out to stone edge so i can hit all the other flying types

Hiya!

Good team, but I noticed that you have a problem with Adamant Lucario. It practically can come in on your Blissey's Toxic and set up an SD and proceed to KO your entire team with ExSpeed and Crunch, since only Jolly run Ice Punch.

To help remedy this, I will suggest a Gliscor with the following set:

Sand Veil | Leftovers
Jolly | 252 HP • 40 Def • 216 Spe
Earthquake | Taunt | Roost | Toxic

With the mentioned set, you would be able to deal with Adamant Lucario better. That set also deals with your stall problem that you have. I would recommend using Gliscor over Blissey, since she seems to be dragging your team down. Of course, I chose Toxic in the last slot to help imitate Blissey's role, but you can always opt for U-Turn instead.

And with Gliscor, you also get a backup plan for Ape who kinda gives you problems once Latias is gone. But Gliscor won't be able to deal with some variants of Ape however.

With the change, however, you lose some insurance against special attacks. But having a way to stop a 6-0 is better than being able to sponge special hits IMO.
