First Team OU (5th gen)

Team Role: Lead
Heatran @ Chuca Berry
Timid
Flash Fire
252 SpA / 4 SpD /252 Spe
Fire Blast
Earth Power
Stealth Rock
Taunt

He was actually the last poke that I decided on to fill out the team. I was never a fan of suicide leads, so I was not going to fill the spot with a more frail (Infernape). Given his ability to set up rocks and additionally Taunt off slower SR users like Bronzong and Iwaparesu. His bulk allows him to do his job, set the stage and come back in later to perhaps wreak havoc on a weekend team. Also Heatran does attract Blissey and EQ, which is where his partnership with Gyarados and Scizor really shines.

Team Role: Mixed Sweeper
Landlos @ Life Orb
Naive
Encourage
252 Spe / 252 SpA / 4 ATK
Earth Power
Rock Slide
Swords Dance
Grass Knot

He might be my favorite poke of the new generation. His great typing allows me to switch him in for an expected EQ on Cobalon or Heatran, as well as any expected electric type move that Gyarados may attract. The speed EV's are obviously to keep him out pacing on the 100 SpD pokes, but I was unsure of my EV distribution into AtK and SpA for the simple reason that I at the moment do not have access to a 5th gen. damage calc. I would perhaps lower the EV's in SpA and raise those in AtK as would be necessary to deal with many of the OU threats after a single sword dance, while keeping Earth Power and Grass Knot as powered up as possible . Additionally like this set because it is really unexpected as I've never come across one quite like it in the metagame to date. The Landlos set capitalizes on the combine effect of Encourage + LO + STAB for Earth Power and a single boost from Swords Dance makes him able to sweep effectively from both sides of the plate. Additionally since Encourage boosts both Rock Slide and Earth Power he has longevity since there is no LO recoil.

Team Role: Revenge Killer/Scout
Scizor @ Choice Band
Adamant
Technician
4 HP / 252 ATK / 252 SPE
U-Turn
Bullet Punch
Pursuit
Superpower

Scizor is on this team for a couple reasons. With Heatran on the team he makes the use of flash fire very viable. He is also a top tier revenge killer and allows me with u-turn to keep the moment of the battle in my favor. He is also a great switch into pokemon like Blissey who present the team with a real problem, absorbing a possible toxic and laughing at a t-wave while crushing her on her way out with a pursuit or if she decided to stay in on an over prediction gets smashed by a Bullet Punch or better yet a Superpower.

Team Role: Mixed Wall/Support
Cresselia @ Left Overs
Calm
Levitate
252 HP/ 200 Def / 56 Def
Psychic
Moonlight
Thunder Wave
Reflect / Light Screen

She is my wall and in my opinion the best one in the metagame. She is great on this team because she deals with the pesky EQ's that my team may attract with the load of steels on the team, as well as the fighting type moves that are so common. The reason that Psychic is on the set and not Ice Beam is because I wanted a stable counter to Roopushin and since I felt safe enough in my counters to dragon's it fit right in (Plus it is always nice to have STAB imo). Her Ev's are straight forward but I was contemplating dropping reflect for light screen since my team has plenty of defensive bulk and seems a little light on the specially defensive side. Let me know what you think about that idea.

Team Role: Tank
Cobalon @ Balloon
Timid
Justice Heart
48 HP / 252 Def / 208 Spe
Volt Change
Focus Blast
Hidden Power (Ice)
Taunt

In my opinion, one of my more unique pokes in the group, Cobalon is essentially the team counter for Dragons and the annoying Doryuuzu. With the EV's above he will out-speed even Max Speed Jolly CB chomp and be able to survive an EQ from any Poke in the OU metagame (given the balloon has been popped). As I've seen him so far people do not generally expect Cobalon to be hitting from the special spectrum so he is a great surprise. Being faster than every dragon in OU is also a great benefit when running this set as he hits them all very hard with HP Ice. He has incredible bulk and great type resistance and additionally creates great team synergy with Cresselia who attracts many dark type attacks, which Cobalon eats from breakfast with his 4x resistance and justice heart ability (though I am unsure if the boost effects the Special end of the spectrum). This set would be perfect if only Cobalon had access to Aura Sphere, but we can only wish right! I personally like switching him into walls taunting them and then on the switch using Volt Change to keep the switch advantage.

Gyarados @ Leftovers
Adamant
156 HP / 72 Atk / 96 Def / 184 Spe
Dragon Dance
Waterfall
Dragon Tail
Earthquake / Stone Edge

Gyrados adds a couple of things that Suicune lacks in this team. Firstly is that without the physical power of a poke like Gyarados this team is too susceptible to being walled to hell by the likes of blissey, vaporeon or really any other great top tier Special Wall. The breakdown of the EV's allows for great bulk and after a single DD allows it to out speed any un-boosted base 115 pokemon. Dragon Tail allows me to force switches on pokemon setting up, while also giving a nice super effective hit against the popular dragon types. Only debate on the set between EQ and Stone Edge is my debating type coverage vs. stability really. It is incredibly annoying dealing with the occasional Stone Edge miss.

This is just something I've come up with and was wondering what you guys thought.

(This is sort of a repost, sry for the first one not having everything I wanted in it)

Also did not not Gyarados' ability is Intimidate and the fact that this team ejoys a couple of nice little perks. One is that every member of the team avoids toxic spike 1/2 of them avoid regular spike and only 1/6 is severely effected by stealth rock.

Tbh not too sure on the Landlos set. If you're too worried about your team being too physically oriented it might be best to just put a normal SD set on him.

I'd replace Gyarados with Kingdra, imo he's too outclassed. He has much better coverage and better speed. After your Scizor/Landlos gets rid of the opponent's steel type you can just maul through their team. ScarfChomp is also an option to consider, though he has similar coverage to Landlos.

I like your Cobalon set, looks slightly familiar :P How's it been working out for you? I've been using a Lax nature(since I hardly ever have him in against special attacks) and used Holy Sword over Focus Blast, for the accuracy, and I find it helps A LOT with countering Tyranitar.

I didn't even think of Kingdra, that might actually work out really well. I was really considering going that way to be completely honest and I'm not gonna lie Focus Blast misses a whole lot more than I wish it did. I may have to make that switch as well cause it kills me when I have a game at hand the all too common Focus Blast misses happens. I will to the hand calculations on the landlos, but it is very different from the norm and that's why I like it. I'll see how it works out when its done being tuned, if I find it is more successful to go a more traditional route, (e.g. Yache Chomp or standard SD Landlos) then I'll wind up doin' that but I wanna see if I can really make this work.

For Lead Heatran, I would run Balloon over Shuca Berry - it's very superior. For Landlos, run pure physical, because with the predominant presence of Tyranitar, Sand Power will boost SD'd LO Stone Edge and EQs to insane amounts of power - you don't need Grass Knot to handle bulky waters, EQ is a 2HKO at minimum and a guaranteed OHKO after SD in sand.

Run this set:

Landlos @ Life Orb
Ability: Sand Power
EVs: 4 HP / 252 Atk / 252 Spd
Jolly nature
- Earthquake
- Stone Edge
- Swords Dance
- U-Turn / Substitute / Brick Break

For Scizor you don't need the speed EVs, run 8 Spd 252 Atk and dump the rest into HP.

On Gyarados, Dragon Tail is useless. My logic is this. Anything switching in to KO / revenge kill Gyarados will kill it before you can Dragon Tail (Due to negative priority like Roar). Anything trying to status you can be taunted. Thus does it not make sense to run Taunt over Dragon Tail? Also you're running the Bulky TauntDos EVs, so I think Taunt serves this set better. Go with Stone Edge over EQ, Waterfall hits most stuff that EQ hits hard even harder due to STAB and immense neutral coverage. Stone Edge is for Zapdos and Dragons.

Dragon Tail is actually very useful on Restalk sets, as when Sleep Talk selects Dragon Tail it doesn't have negative priority. It's a bit too unreliable for my tastes but I've read enough stories to see the effectiveness with entry hazards.

why not try outrage on landlos? EQ stone edge and outrage sounds ridiculously deadly with an SD boost, no? then you can take your evs out of spatk and put them in atk and then put your extra 4 in like hp or something.

I think that taunt over dragon tail is a good idea and I find that this ev spread
Jolly nature
156 Hp
88 Atk
96 Def
168 Speed

This allows you to outspeed jolteon after a dragon dance which I find to be helpful.
