ORAS OU First Team

Hello, so I'm not really a good teambuilder, or player...but I figured this would be a good way to improve. This is the team I have the most success with, though that's not saying much. I tried to build it around diance, since mega diancie is a total beast.

Diancie @ Diancite
Ability: Clear Body
EVs: 4 Atk / 252 SpA / 252 Spe
Hasty Nature
- Protect
- Diamond Storm
- Earth Power
- Moonblast

Diancie is what I tried to build around. I just went with a basic set of three attacks plus protect, since in regular form it's pretty slow. I chose hasty over naive, because I rarely see the need to bring it in on a physical attack. It still takes a mach punch and sucker punch, and bullet punch still kills, so I went with hasty. When the opponent has sand, it helps some.

Heatran @ Leftovers
Ability: Flash Fire
EVs: 248 HP / 192 SpD / 68 Spe
Calm Nature
- Taunt
- Stealth Rock
- Lava Plume
- Toxic

My first thought was that ferrothorn walls diancie, and I hate ferro with a burning passion, so I decided to go with heatran as my rocker, since I normally lead with diancie and ferro then comes in. I put toxic to wear down some walls so that diance, keldeo, or breloom can sweep. Taunt is purely because I hate clefable. EVs are from the smogon thread.....

Keldeo @ Choice Specs
Ability: Justified
EVs: 252 SpA / 4 SpD / 252 Spe
Timid Nature
- Hydro Pump
- Scald
- Secret Sword
- Icy Wind

I wanted a powerful pokemon to break through things like hippo and gliscor. Icy wind is so that the lati twins can't switch in since their speed will be lowered. Hidden power ice can be used because that extra bit of power is important for KO's on tank garchomp, which runs rampant on the ladder. Icy wind has a 37.5% chance to OHKO, while HP ice has an 87.5% chance to OHKO.

Breloom @ Focus Sash
Ability: Technician
EVs: 252 Atk / 4 SpD / 252 Spe
Jolly Nature
- Mach Punch
- Swords Dance
- Spore
- Bullet Seed

I needed some priority on this team, and was going to use scizor, but I liked the idea of having a security plan. If a pokemon has set up, Breloom can come in and take a hit thanks to focus sash and spore it. It has saved me many a times from getting swept.

Mew @ Leftovers
Ability: Synchronize
EVs: 252 HP / 224 Def / 32 Spe
Bold Nature
IVs: 0 Atk
- Thunder Wave
- Soft-Boiled
- Psychic
- Defog

Since breloom has a focus sash, obviously I needed someone to take hazards off the field. I thought about using Latias, but Lopunny was really scary at the time. Mew is my counter to lopunny. It takes hit really well, and can retaliate with a thunder wave. Mew is mostly just to take hits from fast pokemon and paralyze them, as well as clear hazards for breloom. It can't do much else with this set. Speed is to outspeed adamant base 70 pokes, like bisharp or breloom.

Latios @ Choice Scarf
Ability: Levitate
EVs: 252 SpA / 4 SpD / 252 Spe
Timid Nature
- Draco Meteor
- Psyshock
- Thunderbolt
- Ice Beam

I know this is not the optimal choice scarfer, but it can deal a good bit of damage on a surprise factor. It's a good revenge killer, and I don't need to worry about speed ties with other lati's. I also can still outspeed mega charizard x after one dragon dance. Ice beam is for gliscor. I hate gliscor. Thunderbolt is for gyarados, to deal some damage so that breloom can finish it off.

That's my team! Help would be greatly, greatly appreciated. Thanks!

Hi! Welcome to Smogon!
This team looks pretty solid. If you are running Scarf Latios, Trick and Hidden Power Fire are generally better options than Thunderbolt and Ice Beam, as Pokemon that are hit by those moves are going to be 2HKOd at the very least by Draco Meteor.
Latios Set:
Latios @ Choice Scarf
Ability: Levitate
EVs: 4 HP / 252 SpA / 252 Spe
Timid Nature
- Draco Meteor
- Psyshock
- Hidden Power Fire
- Trick
Trick is a phenomenal move on a Choice Latios, as it cripples nearly all of its common switch ins, such as Clefable and Chansey. Hidden Power fire is also a great move to deal with Ferrothorn and Scizor, opening the door for Diancie to sweep late game.
Good luck with the team!
