First Ubers team, and I need your help ^^.

Hello there fellow Smogonites. So yeah, I´m playing into some sort of league. You could see it as a baseball competition, you have an x number of teams and the teams with the highest points at the end of the season wins obviously. For next playround, I have been divided into 5th gen Ubers, a tier that I am not very familiar with. So I created a team, playtested some and it works.... well it works decent I guess. I won´t peak at a high place with it, but I guess my w/l ratio is around 50/50, and that is obviously not good enough. So that is why I´m here. To make it better.

The teambuilding
Well I guess everyone who is here knows that Ubers is al about weather. I decided to go for for a sunny team, so Groudon was my obvious lead.

Now I wanted something that could make use of that weather, probably by using sun-boosted moves. Specs Reshiram seemed a solid choice to me, especially because it has two unresisted STABs.

What I wanted now was a solid revenge killer and a set-up sweeper. Arceus seemed a very solid choice to me, as it got STAB Extremespeed and can set up Swords Dance. As a pure set-up sweeper I chose Rayquaza because of its ability to boost it´s Speed and it´s beastly attack.

Of course you still have that pesky Kyogre that ruins my weather, so I needed an answer to weather teams. Specially based Palkia was my choice here.

Jay. I got 3 dragons now, that means 3x a dragon weak. So I needed something to switch into Dragon moves. I decided to go for Ferrothorn, because of his ability to lay down Spikes and spread status with Thunder Wave. It is also a fairly good counter to Kyogre.

Relaxed nature @ Leftovers
Trait: Drought
EVs: 252 HP/4 Att/252 Def
-Stealth Rock
-Fire Blast
-Earthquake
-Dragon Tail

I chose a physically Defensive Groudon here. Stealth Rock seems pretty obvious te me, it is to set up entry hazards and deal some damage to switch ins, especially now that there are pretty much enemies that have a SR weak like Lugia, multiple Arceus formes, Rayquaza, Reshiram and obviously Ho-Oh, losing 50% on a switch in. Fire Blast pairs nice with the sun, having nice coverage with STAB Earthquake, and both taking out a good chunk out of anything that doesn´t resist it. Dragon Tail is to phaze after laying down Stealth Rock. I also gave him a Speed-lowering nature so it is slower than Kyogre, allowing me to set up weahter first, wich is great. Oh, and Dragon Tail and Fire Blast together is only resisted by Heatran, and I can phaze him out anyways, or hit non-balloon variant with Earthquake.

Jolly nature @ Life Orb
Trait: Multitype
EVs: 4 HP/252 Att/252 Spe
-Extremespeed
-Swords Dance
-Earthquake
-Dragon Claw

Arceus is my main revenge killer, packing a destructive STAB Extremespeed. Of the current enemy does not pose a threat to me, I go for Swords Dance, a move that makes Arceus near unstoppablein combination with Extremespeed. Earthquake gives nice coverage and hits stuff like Dialga hard, and can hit Ferrothorn neutral wich is nice. Dragon Claw makes sure I hit enemys like Giratina that would normally wall me. It also hits a lot of other slower Dragons for a nice Super Effective damage of course. I gave it a Life Orb to boost it´s destructive power even more, making it capable to destroy entire teams after two Swords Dances.

Timid nature @ Choice Specs
Trait: Turboblaze
EVs: 4 HP/252 SAtk/252 Spe
-Blue Flare
-Dragon Pulse
-Draco Meteor
-Focus Miss.

Specs Reshiram is the ultimate sun abuser, packing a huge Special Attack and having probably the best fire move there exists today, Blue Flare. It´s basically an upgraded Fire Blast with a 20% burn chance, and that together with Choice Specs and getting it boosted by the sun it destroys everything that doesn´t resist it. Dragon Pulse is a nice second STAB move, and makes an unresisted pair of STABs along with Blue Flare. Draco Meteor is there to break through tough walls that noramlly would have stopped my Reshiram. It deals a ton of damage. Focus Miss is to deal with the likes of Dalkia, providing it hits of course.

Hasty nature @ Life Orb
Trait: Air Lock
EVs: 252 Att/4 SAtk/252 Spe
-Dragon Dance
-Outrage
-Stone Edge
-Overheat

Rayquaza is my main set-up sweeper, and can be a beast after two DD´s. I chose a Hasty nature so it´s Overheat won´t get limited, and a Life Orb to give it some extra power. Outrage is it´s main STAB Attack and punch gigantic holes in teams after a DD, not even talking about 2 of them. Stone Edge let it hit things like Lugia and Ho-Oh. Overheat is nice as it hits you stuff like Scizor (for whatever reason people uses it in Ubers), Ferrothorn and Forretress without you having to worry about an SAtk drop since Overheat is your only SAtk move. It´s ground immunity is also nice, giving it an ability to switch into a Ground move aimed at Reshiram.

Calm Nature @ Leftovers
Trait: Iron Barbs
EVs: 252 HP/48 Def/208 Sdef
-Spikes
-Leech Seed
-Power Whip
-Thunder Wave

With that many Dragons in my team I needed something that could switch into it. Ferrothorn was my choice here, as it can lay down some Spikes wich is nice. It also gives me a powerfull Power Whip allowing me to hit both Groudon and Kyogre for super effective damage. Leech Seed is to outstall my opponent, get some healing or to force switches. Thunder Wave is nice to spread around some status to cripple enemies like Rayquaza. It is also a great counter to Rain teams since it likes the fire weak effect.

484.gif

Timid nature @ Lustrous Orb
Trait: Pressure
EVs: 4 HP/252 Att/252 Spe
-Surf
-Spacial Rend
-Thunder
-Fire Blast

Palkia is my main answer to Kyogre and other Rain team, giving to two nice STABs. Spacial Rend is basically an upgraded Dragon Pulse with a nice chance to get a Crit on my enemy. Lustrous Orb boosts its offensive abilities wich is nice. Surf get´s a boost in the Rain, inflicting high damage on al non-resisting enemy´s. Thunder abuses Rain as it gets a 100% accuracy, while Fire Blast can be used if I have my own weather up to give it a nice damage boost.

Rates, GO!

Hey man, good looking team. I have some nitpicks that could be really valuable too you that I'd like you to look at. First off, really simple, Arceus could be making much better use of Adamant nature. The reasoning for this is that, at base120 in Ubers, dropping from Jolly to Adamant is barely changing what out speeds you and what does not, and the boost from Adamant nature after a Swords Dance is a hell of an increase especially with Life Orb. Not to mention your main move, Extreme Speed, is a priority move anyway, meaning again Adamant > Jolly shouldn't harm you. Secondly, I would recommend trying a Choice Scarf over Lustrous Orb on Palkia. Basically, your team is quite weak to set up sweepers, especially if Ferrothorn has taken any previous damage, as it seems to be your only defensive answer to things. This'll help you out as far as making your team more solid in the long run. Good luck!

Thanks for the help, and yes I should use Adamant on Arceus :P.

I will definetly try out the Scarf, never though of it actually, seems a good idea to me ^^.
