First UnderUsed Team ( First Post )

Hey guys, I am a new battler and this is my very first post on this forum. I have battled a little bit in OU, it was fun and had a little bit of success for a newcomer and now I wanted to try out UU. I made this team that I thought wasn't bad last week and had success with it but now one of my most important part of it is banned : Magnezone :( And I'd like to see what you guys think of my team, if I should make some changes and what I could replace my Magnezone with! This is my very first post and didn't know where to write about help like this. If you guys could help and tell me where to go for other help on the forum, it would be really nice of you too :)

Flygon @ Choice Scarf
Ability: Levitate
EVs: 252 Atk / 4 SDef / 252 Spd
Jolly Nature
- Earthquake
- U-turn
- Fire Punch
- Dragon Claw

The revenge killer of my team, but can also be a good lead because of U-Turn. Earthquake and Dragon Claw for strong STAB moves and Fire Punch as a coverage move, to hit stuff like Shaymin or Forretress hard.

Toxicroak @ Assault Vest
Ability: Dry Skin
EVs: 236 HP / 252 Atk / 4 SDef / 16 Spd
Adamant Nature
- Gunk Shot
- Drain Punch
- Knock Off
- Ice Punch

Strong set that I have seen used by BlameTruth on Youtube, hits hard and can tank a hit or two because of the added SpD by Assault Vest. Gunk Shot is a strong STAB move that hits extremely hard. For example, it is a guaranteed 2HKO on Mega-Blastoise after Stealth Rock. Drain Punch as the basic move on Toxicroak to heal and hit hard. Knock Off as the annoying but useful move that is seen on every team (even sometimes 2 Pkmns carry it) and Ice Punch as the coverage move that hits hard because of the awesome Ice type.

Milotic @ Leftovers
Ability: Marvel Scale
EVs: 248 HP / 252 Def / 8 SpDef
Serious Nature
- Recover
- Ice Beam
- Scald
- Haze/Toxic

Defensive wall Milotic, I didn't really know what to do with it. At first I wanted to try that Competitive/Life Orb set but thought I probably needed some more bulk. Basic moves for Milotic but I'm still trying to decide if I use Haze or Toxic on this.

Chesnaught @ Leftovers
Ability: Bulletproof
EVs: 252 HP / 252 Def / 4 SDef
Impish Nature
- Spiky Shield
- Hammer Arm/Toxic
- Seed Bomb/Toxic
- Leech Seed

An incredibly annoying wall for the other team. This Chesnaught handed me so many forfeits because of that Leech Seed, Spiky Shield and Leftovers stalling. I'm still trying to figure out if I should replace one of the STAB attacks for Toxic to enhance the stalling or if I should keep that on Milotic...

Claydol @ Leftovers
Ability: Levitate
EVs: 252 HP / 4 Atk / 252 Def
Gentle Nature
- Stealth Rock
- Rapid Spin
- Earthquake
- Psychic

Pretty much a filler pokemon. Didn't really know what to put to set rocks up and spin/defog them away so I decided to try Claydol out. Either I haven't been using it properly or it doesn't fit right in UU or my team. It would be good to see opinions on this though. So SR and RS are pretty self-explanatory and Earthquake and Psychic just to have something more for him(or her) to do.

Magnezone @ Choice Specs
Ability: Analytic
EVs: 252 SAtk / 252 HP / 4 SDef
Modest Nature
IVs: 30 Atk / 30 SAtk / 0 Spd
- Volt Switch
- Thunderbolt
- Hidden Power [Grass]
- Flash Cannon

My ex-GoInAndHitHard pokemon. Analytic + Choice Specs + STAB gives so much power to Volt Switch and giving you a good momentum. He was probably one of my favorite pokemon on this team and him and Flygon had a good Volt-Turn combo. Thunderbolt was to hit as hard as possible, Flash Cannon as the other STAB and was useful against fairy types and Hidden Power Grass was to hit the predicted Swamperts,Quagsires,Gastros, etc. Please give me help to replace this little fella :( (RIP UU Magnezone)

So what I'd really like to know is if you guys like the synergy of the team, if Claydol should be replaced for another mon, if Milotic's set should change and what a good replacement could be for Magnezone.

Thanks ^^

one thing I can say for sure is definitely take out Claydol, it's just not very good in the UU metagame, no reliabel recovery, pretty bad stats etc. etc. It's more of an RU or NU poke imo.

For Stealth Rock setters I could recommend Miltank (also a decent wall), Kabutops/Armaldo (can also be offensive and also get rapid spin), Mega Aggron (also gets Dragon Tail/Roar and can do a sleeptalk rest set), or Registeel (?)

Looking at your team I don't feel like you need a Spinner that badly, considering you have no rock weaknesses and like 3 resists, but if you'd like you could run Mega Blastoise (maybe defensive). Honestly I feel like Armaldo might be interesting but it's more of an NU poke than anything.

As for Magnezone I think the most important parts of it are its ability to hit hard and use volt switch for momentum, so
you could use Mega Manectric (?), which can basically do most of the same things except its faster and more frail.

Hope you found this helpful lol. I don't know too much about comp either

Yeah I'm pretty new to comp as well. Just thought having a spinner was pretty important because of SR,T-Spikes, Spikes and Sticky Web. I'll try out Mega Manectric on the team later today and for the Rocker I have been thinking Mew too. He seems to be an elite pokemon in the UU tier. I have seen your post on the newcomer thread right after mine, so welcome on Smogon to you too :) Thanks!

Update: I have been trying Miltank instead of Claydol. For now it's going a lot better. with this set:

241.png

Miltank (F) @ Leftovers
Ability: Thick Fat
EVs: 252 HP / 252 Def / 4 SDef
Bold Nature
- Stealth Rock
- Milk Drink
- Heal Bell
- Toxic

And I have tried Mega-Manectric but didn't work as much as I would have liked. So I tried Heliolisk.

heliolisk.png

Heliolisk @ Choice Specs
Ability: Dry Skin
EVs: 4 HP / 252 SAtk / 252 Spd
Timid Nature
- Thunderbolt
- Volt Switch
- Surf
- Hidden Power [Ice]

Which worked okay but haven't really managed to get that permanent spot on the team.

I played a little and have seen some major problem with Shaymin. Pretty much all i could use to hurt him was Toxicroak's Gunk Shot but Toxicroak can't really take an Earth Power. Do you guys have any new idea to improve this weakness?

A good check to shaymin for your team is crobat as it can form a u-turn core with flygon and provide hazard removal in the form of defog but do have to be weary of the ice weakness team your team could face.

Okay i see alot of improvements already, you have a defensive team so you want to take hits and deal some damage in return while trying to 1v1 certain mons. This only worked out for me in 1 case but it can work ofc. I might change the team a bit much but i think it will make this team better.

Flygon: With a Choice Scarf i personally like Outrage > Dragon Claw but thats just for the high burst of damage but i can work against you if an Ice type switches in. I suggest trying it out and see which one you like better.

Toxicroak: Never seen the set so im gonna try it out and trust the Pokétuber that he knows what he is doing :P

Milotic: You need a special wall other than Toxicroak so i suggest moving the Defensive EV to Special Defense. I dont know about Haze, i think Toxic might be better but then again if you face some stupid set up Pokémon its nice to have Haze... Its what you prefer.

Chesnaught: If you dont go for Haze on Milotic you should switch Hammer Arm to Roar. With Roar you can remove those annoying Pokémon who want to setup against you but if you have Haze on Milotic you might want to pick Hammer Arm for coverage.

Miltank: I'm not a fan of Miltank in UU, it gets destroyed by Mienshao so i suggest running maybe Mega Aggron over Miltank. Personally im a huge fan of Donphan. Donphan is so strong, it can easily 1v1 many Pokémon and it has access to Stealth Rock and Rapid Spin! Earthquake for STAB and the amazing Ice Shard for priority.

Heliolisk: With many strong Electric Pokémon as well as Mega's but it seems it hasnt worked out quite well for you so maybe Raikou is a good alternative.

Donphan @ Leftovers
Ability: Sturdy
EVs: 252 HP / 4 Atk / 252 Def
Impish Nature
- Stealth Rock
- Earthquake
- Rapid Spin
- Ice Shard
Raikou @ Leftovers
Ability: Pressure
EVs: 252 Spd / 252 SAtk / 4 HP
Timid Nature
- Substitute
- Calm Mind
- Thunderbolt
- Hidden Power [Ice]/Hidden Power [Grass]

Raikou @ Choice Specs/Choice Scarf
Ability: Pressure
EVs: 252 Spd / 252 SAtk / 4 HP
Timid Nature
- Thunderbolt
- Hidden Power [Ice]/Hidden Power [Grass]
- Extrasensory/Aura Sphere
- Volt Switch
