First UU RMT

Introduction:

I've sorta gone off Shoddy after the last few months, and I recently came back to try to get onto the OU ladder. I got to about 1000 on the ratings. xD

To be honest, I'm not very good at OU, so I decided to try my hand at UU, and I've found it a lot more fun. Though, because I'm new to UU, I haven't fully begun to understand the threats etc.

Anna Bligh (Nidoqueen) (F) @ Leftovers
Ability: Poison Point
EVs: 252 HP/40 Def/120 SAtk/98 SDef
Modest nature (+SAtk, -Atk)
- Toxic Spikes
- Stealth Rock
- Ice Beam
- Earth Power

Nidoqueen is basically just here to get Stealth Rock up and as many layers of Toxic Spikes as possible. However, she does very well at removing other leads such as Kabutops, Froslass etc. Earthquake should be obvious, but Ice Beam can surprise people. I was going to run Ice Punch, but I decided to run a Lonely nature and put Ice Beam since Ice Beam is decent for any Donphans that like to switch in.
Tangrowth (M) @ Leftovers
Ability: Chlorophyll
EVs: 162 HP/236 Atk/56 Def/56 SDef
Adamant nature (+Atk, -SAtk)
- Synthesis
- Amnesia
- Rock Slide
- Power Whip
---

My late game sweeper. It can double up as a decent revenge killer too. I was originally going to run Jolly nature, however a member from another site pursuaded me to use Adamant, since Relicanth needs all the power it can get. Choice Scarf Rock Head pretty much kills anything that doesn't resist it providing it doesn't miss. Generally, I don't need to use Earthquake or Stone Edge, however they do come in handy. Waterfall is lol. I used to have Aqua Tail, but it missed the Rhyperior I was trying to kill. =(

The Rhyperior swept me.

So yeah. Accuracy I felt was better. Still, I've only used Waterfall once or twice.
---
Raikou @ Choice Specs
Ability: Pressure
EVs: 200 HP/252 Spd/58 SAtk
Modest nature (+SAtk, -Atk)
- Thunderbolt
- Extrasensory
- Shadow Ball
- Hidden Power [Grass]
---

Special Attacker. I did have Timid, but I ended up not killing stuff. So I changed it to Modest. Raikou is fast enough to outrun base 100's iirc. Thunderbolt is obvious, Shadow Ball helps for coverage (Which is hard because of Raikou's pathetic movepool) and Extrasensory is amazing for the surprise factor. It lets me kill lots of Venusaurs, which my team tends to struggle with. Extrasensory has pulled me out of quite a few sticky situations.

Thunder might seem strange, but it's for Rain Dance teams or if Raikou is my last Pokemon and I need to go all out. =P
---
Milotic (M) @ Leftovers
Ability: Marvel Scale
EVs: 200 HP/4 Def/252 Spd/48 SAtk/6 SDef
Modest nature (+SAtk, -Atk)
- Ice Beam
- Surf
- Recover
- Haze

Milotic is awesome in UU. Ice Beam and Surf give great coverage, though I find Pokemon like Slowbro wall me pretty bad. Recover is broken. Haze is pretty amazing though. Calm Mind Mismagius? Haze lol. Yeah. I saw someone on Shoddy running Haze and after trying (And failing) a Rest Talk set, I decided to try Haze out and I think it's worked well for me.

Milotic is so defensive, if I get Toxic Spikes up, it can just Recover stall anything.
---
Dugtrio (M) @ Choice Band
Ability: Arena Trap
EVs: 6 HP/252 Atk/252 Spd
Adamant nature (+Atk, -SAtk)
- Earthquake
- Night Slash
- Stone Edge
- Sucker Punch

It's Dugtrio. Everyone's favourite revenge killer! This thing is so awesomecakes. Beat up (with a healthy team) kills Chansey who would otherwise love to switch in on Raikou. Earthquake does most of the killing though. And I love switching in on Thunderbolts and waves and earthquaking/stone edging.

I wasn't sure on Choice Scarf or Band, I chose Band simply because it needs all the power it can get imo.
---
Pauline Hanson (Kangaskhan) (F) @ Leftovers
Ability: Scrappy
EVs: 252 HP/210 Atk/16 Def/16 Spd/16 SDef
Adamant nature (+Atk, -SAtk)
- Earthquake
- Roar
- Substitute
- Focus Punch
---

My team shuffler. Scrappy is sooooo good on ghosts. Drain Punch is a cool move especially on them pesky Spiritombs and the Regis. Earthquake is just a filler move, and Giga Impact might seem stupid, but it helps for netting those kills against really defensive Pokemon like Milotic and Slowbro. Roar is great if I have Toxic Spikes up, because Kangaskhan is pretty bulky. She can take quite a few hits.

So that's it. Rate please. =D

Hmm imo Thunder on Raikou is a bit of a risk, but then again with the amount of rain dance teams going around now-a-day I must admit it would be pretty effective but still I personally think you should go for HP Grass, to cover the switching in Rock types + the additional worries of your teams outstanding weakness to ground type.

apart from that, no rants.

Stone Edge has no purpose on Relicanth, as it literally is the same thing as Head Smash, only with 2/3 the power. Put something else there (although a STAB Head Smash basically does outdamage EVERYTHING else Relicanth could put there).

I'm not quite sure how Beat Up works, but I think Chansey goes down faster to Earthquake. Try putting something like Pursuit (for Uxie, Mismagius, etc. who try to run), or (my preference) Sucker Punch for other Dugtrios.

Is there a point about using 252 Spd EVs on Queen? You should focus on her defense and imo Earth Power > Quake, because it can hit guys like Cloyster and Omastar better - and plus you don't need to use -Def nature. You may try Taunt as well, though there is moveslot syndrome.

Hmm, Giga Impact is a no-no: really, even if you can make a surprise kill, your opponent will have a free turn to make whatever he wants against poor Kanga. A SubPuncher set fits better here.

Overall, I see some problems to take ground hits: half of the team are weak to and nothing resists it. Ok, you have Milo, but something like RPTorterra can sweep your entirely team rather easily. I'd suggest Tangrowth (or Leafeon if you prefer a sweeper who can take some hits).

Good point. Usually I switch in Raikou on a Water Pokemon like Milotic or whatever, they seem to flee in fear and bring out their nearest ground type. I’ll actually change Thunder for HP Grass and see how I’ll go. Hopefully this’ll help.

Mmm. I was thinking that too. The only problem with not having a secondary STAB is that anything with Pressure can PP stall me out of Head Smash. There isn’t any point in running Double Edge. I don’t think I’ve ever used it before. Perhaps I could change it to Stealth Rock?Pursuit on Dugtrio would be a good idea if they actually could escape. Lol

Sucker Punch is a decent idea though. My team tends to lean toward the slower side. A Priority move would be excellent for me. Thanks!
Why not just use Aggron over Relicanth? Is there a specific reason?

Well not really a specific reason per se. But Relicanth is just that little bit faster and bulkier than Aggron. And Aggron then gives me a 4x weakness to Ground as opposed to Relicanths 2x. My team is quite weak to ground moves at the moment, so I really need a Pokemon that’ll resist ground rather than add even more ground weakness to my team imo.

Awesome. Yeah, I noticed the ground weakness problem earlier. I haven’t had too much trouble with Torterra because Milotic just Ice Beams it if it kills something. That said, I’ve only seen one or two Torterras around. I changed Relicanth over for Tangrowth though.

Thanks for the rates guys. I’ll edit this stuff in. Keep ‘em coming please. =D
