Hey Smogon, this is my first X and Y team i've built. Any feedback is appreciated, so please help me improve my team.
Tyranitar @ Tyranitarite
Ability: Sand Stream
EVs: 252 Atk / 244 HP / 4 SAtk / 8 Spd
Naughty Nature
- Stealth Rock
- Stone Edge
- Crunch
- Ice Beam
Tyranitar (mega) is my Stealth Rock setter, and also a main physical threat. I gave him max Attack and HP for power and bulk, respectively, and the Speed EV's are to outspeed other Mega Tyranitars. I put Ice Beam on him instead of Earthquake or Superpower to catch incoming threats like Gliscor and Garchomp. Ice Beam is the only questionable move on there, so tell me if I should keep it or change it.
Tentacruel @ Black Sludge
Ability: Liquid Ooze
EVs: 252 HP / 16 Spd / 240 SDef
Calm Nature
- Rapid Spin
- Sludge Bomb
- Scald
- Knock Off
I've always loved Tentacruel, but I love him more now in 6th gen. He's my Rapid Spinner, and also my special wall. Sludge Bomb and Scald are there to inflict status and deal damage, and Knock Off help neuter Pokemon that rely on their items. I cant really think of any changes to make to Tentacruel, as the rest of his movepool is pretty shallow.
Greninja @ Life Orb
Ability: Protean
EVs: 252 Spd / 252 SAtk / 4 Atk
Hasty Nature
- Hydro Pump
- Dark Pulse
- U-turn
- Ice Beam
Greninja is my main special attacker, and a great one at that. With Protean giving all of his attacks STAB, he packs a punch even when U-Turning out. He has a Hasty nature over a Modest one to outspeed other Greninjas, and things in that speed tier (Noivern). The only change I can think of is changing Hydro Pump to Surf, but it loses quite a bit of power in that transition.
Gliscor @ Toxic Orb
Ability: Poison Heal
EVs: 184 Def / 252 HP / 72 Spd
Impish Nature
- Earthquake
- Toxic
- Roost
- Substitute
Gliscor is cheap as hell, and he always will be. I just use the standard Showdown EV spread, and a standard moveset. Gliscor or my physical wall, and can stall out almost any physical threat, barring ridiculous powerhouses like Mega Mawile. I could change him to the Sub-Protect set, but that's no fun for me, and I find that this set works better instead.
Gengar (F) @ Choice Scarf
Ability: Levitate
EVs: 252 Spd / 252 SAtk / 4 HP
Timid Nature
- Shadow Ball
- Sludge Bomb
- Dazzling Gleam
- Focus Blast
Scarfed Gengar is something that people don't expect a lot. Because of this, it scores many kills on unsuspecting players. With the four moves that it has, not many things can switch in on it and not risk getting smashed with a super effective move. Once Pokebank comes out, i'll change Focus Blast to Trick, as that seems to be my least useful move, also it misses a lot.
Garchomp @ Choice Band
Ability: Rough Skin
EVs: 252 Spd / 252 Atk / 4 HP
Jolly Nature
- Earthquake
- Stone Edge
- Outrage
- Dragon Claw
Choice Banded Garchomp pretty much destroys everything that isn't a physical wall. Edgequake along with Dragon STAB doesn't have many resists, and thats what makes him so good. I have both Dragon Claw and Outrage because there will be times when I want to use a Dragon move, but I don't want to lock myself into Outrage. Should i change Dragon Claw for something else?
The main problem with this team that i've noticed is that there's no way at all to deal with Mamoswine. the only solution I can think of is switch into Gengar, but my opponent usually catches on after I do that a few times. Also Rotom-W is a problem, but not nearly as big of a problem that Mamoswine. Please help me fix this problem
