Fix attempt number--aw, hell with it.

Okay. I'm pretty positive it's not my team that's holding me back by this point, but team fixes are a lot easier than fixing me. Since I'm not really sure what my overall strategy is or should be (sad but true), I figure a replay with the team I'm putting under the knife will have to do.

Now, this was from a recent tournament in which Rapid Spin, Zone/Trio, and auto-weather were banned in conjunction with any dragon-type...imagine the struggles this team must face in regular ladder play. And now the team, which is supposed to be specially based hyper offense.

Deoxys-D @ Leftovers
Trait: Pressure
EVs: 252 HP / 4 Def / 252 Spd
Impish Nature (+Def, -SAtk)
- Taunt
- Stealth Rock
- Spikes
- Seismic Toss
Pretty standard. Sets hazards, taunts walls and setup sweepers alike on a good day, survives a CB Scizor U-turn (I just have to remember not to taunt it), seismic toss to not be complete taunt bait and do reliable damage.

[pimg]453[/pimg]
Lucario (F) @ Life Orb
Trait: Inner Focus
EVs: 4 HP / 252 SAtk / 252 Spd
Modest Nature (+SAtk, -Atk)
- Nasty Plot
- Aura Sphere
- Shadow Ball
- Vacuum Wave
Specially based Lucario. aura sphere and shadow ball give perfect neutral coverage, Vacuum Wave for priority. Running Modest because it needs the extra power, according to IFM (this was my team built during my tutelage), and nasty plot to try to make up for the lack of base power but I rarely if ever know when it's safe to set up.

[pimg]65[/pimg]
Alakazam (M) @ Focus Sash
Trait: Magic Guard
EVs: 4 Def / 252 SAtk / 252 Spd
Timid Nature (+Spd, -Atk)
- Psyshock
- Hidden Power [Fire]
- Focus Blast
- Calm Mind
The bane of setup sweepers everywhere. Magic Guard and Focus Sash guarantees at least one turn of punishment, but these three moves are walled by motherfucking starmie of all things. Seeing as this is my only team member that can outrun him and shut down spinning, this is important to me. When I manage to use him well, he's like the zoroark of OU in that he comes in, gets one kill and then is dead weight for the rest of the match.

[pimg]381[/pimg]
Latios (M) @ Life Orb
Trait: Levitate
EVs: 4 HP / 252 SAtk / 252 Spd
Timid Nature (+Spd, -Atk)
- Recover
- Draco Meteor
- Surf
- Psyshock
Supposed to be my main sweeper, but these things never go as planned if I even try to plan them at all. Draco Meteor is just horrifically powerful, Recover keeps the attacks coming despite LO recoil, the other two moves are coverage (coverage against what, I've yet to satisfactorily answer). Thinking dragon pulse over DM so he can stay in longer and not worry about the SpA drops.

[pimg]490[/pimg]
Heatran (F) @ Life Orb
Trait: Flash Fire
EVs: 4 HP / 252 SAtk / 252 Spd
Modest Nature (+SAtk, -Atk)
- Flame Charge
- Fire Blast
- Hidden Power [Ice]
- Earth Power
I like the idea for this set a lot: Use Flame Charge upon coming out to get the speed of a scarf set while retaining the freedom to switch attacks. He needs Fire Blast's power, HP Ice is useful for taking down all manner of would-be sweepers and walls as well as popping balloons of rival Heatran, and Earth Power because I can't think of anything else he'd rather have.

[pimg]503[/pimg]
Rotom-W @ Choice Scarf
Trait: Levitate
EVs: 4 HP / 252 SAtk / 252 Spd
Timid Nature (+Spd, -Atk)
- Volt Switch
- Hydro Pump
- Hidden Power [Ice]
- Trick
I'm pretty sure this is the standard set, but I can never seem to utilize Trick to its maximum potential, so I'm thinking of swapping that out for another attack. This thing is too easily walled outside of rain (and even then, there's always miss hax with hydro pump), not to mention Haxorus outspeeds after a DD or with a scarf of his own.

Since I didn't really have any specific tactics or strategies in mind when making this team (fail to plan = plan to fail, I realize that), feel free to go nuts.

Hey there this is actually a pretty cool team and I can definitely see a plan in the works here with Latios and Alakazam, as they can both pressure each others' counters pretty well along with Spikes. You mentioned Rotom-W as being unable to outspeed DD Haxorus, which is actually a fairly big threat to this team if Alakazam's sash is broken, since it can outspeed and OHKO everything with Earthquake/Outrage when it's at +1, you have a decent shot at luring it into Outraging Heatran, but even that does a ton of damage and can open up your team to some other threats [such as Specs Latios, which can prove pretty dangerous to this team without Heatran, since Draco Meteor/Surf deal some serious damage to pretty much everything on your team. Anyways, have you ever tried out a Scarfed Salamence over your Rotom-W? It's a pretty good lategame cleaner and is able to revenge Haxorus, Latios and many other Pokemon due to its great power and speed tier. Salamence also holds the benefit of luring in physical walls, most of which Lucario is able to set up on, so it facilitates Lucario's sweeping, in a sense Additionally, Rotom-W isn't too beneficial to the goal of this team since it's so weak that it allows special walls such as Chansey or Jirachi a chance to recover from the powerful onslaught of your other powerful special attackers when it comes in, provided Rain isn't up. Also, have you considered using an Air Balloon on Heatran over Life Orb? I've never found Life Orb to be too effective on Heatran since it's boosting isn't too reliable and it still doesn't help it overcome Blissey or Chansey, whereas Air Balloon allows you to check other Heatran as well as possibly beat Salamence, Gliscor, Landorus late-game, etc if you conserve it.

Salamence (M) @ Choice Scarf
Trait: Moxie
EVs: 252 Atk / 4 SAtk / 252 Spd
Naive Nature (+Spd, -SDef)
- Outrage
- Dragon Claw
- Fire Blast
- Earthquake

Change Summary:

Heatran:
Life Orb-> Air Balloon

^^Very good suggestion actually. Once Salamence comes in and gets going it starts ripping things and getting stronger and stronger. Either that or Banded Terrakion would do wonders for this team as they both can dent stall teams so the rest of your team can clean up.

Also, Air Balloon over Life Orb on Heatran. Another problem I can see you having is getting set up on too early. Deoxys-D is set up on by the majority of prominent sweepers in OU. DNiTE and Volcarona will just boost and laugh at it. You need a better lead.

Switch around Heatran a bit, make it more bulky (Preferably Max Special Defence and Max HP), with an Air Balloon and give it stealth rock, HP Ice, Flamethrower/Fire Blast and 1 move of your choice. It walls Dragonite which would otherwise dominate your team and it sets up stealth rocks while applying pressure.
