[overview]
**Draft Order**: Round 7 onwards
**Price Range**: 3-4 points
**Overview**: Flamigo is an attacker that can spam its Fighting-type moves even in the face of Ghost-types thanks to its ability Scrappy. Despite a great ability and two great spammable STAB options, its Speed stat is lackluster, its bulk is near unusable, and without items to significantly boost its power, it is not strong enough to make up for any of it.

Common Roles
========
**Revenge Killer**: By holding a Choice Scarf, Flamigo can act as a revenge killer that can also use U-turn to generate offensive momentum for its team.
**Wallbreaker**: Having the option to hold a Choice Band or set up with Swords Dance, Flamigo can serve as a wallbreaker that can spam its Fighting-type move worry-free thanks to Scrappy.
Common Moves
========
**Primary STAB Moves**: Close Combat, Brave Bird, Low Kick
**Setup Moves**: Bulk Up, Swords Dance, Agility
**Utility Moves**: Roost, Taunt, U-turn
**Coverage**: Liquidation, Lunge, Throat Chop
Niche Moves
========
**Sky Attack / Acrobatics**: While it is less reliable than Brave Bird and relies on a Power Herb, Sky Attack could be used alongside Acrobatics if a stronger Flying-type move is needed. With an easily consumable item such as Power Herb, Acrobatics is about as powerful as Brave Bird and avoids the recoil damage.
**Upper Hand**: Flamigo is easily KOed with priority moves, meaning it can use Upper Hand to try and gain the upper hand against foes that want to do this.
**Tailwind**: Tailwind can be used to speed itself up without having to hold a Choice Scarf, and U-turn can be used alongside it to allow Flamigo to pass that Speed boost to its teammates.
Common Items
========
**Choice Scarf**: Flamigo needs to outspeed its foes in order to gain any value, and Choice Scarf ensures that most unboosted Pokemon will be outsped.
**Choice Band**: If Flamigo wants more punching power, Choice Band can be used to break through the defensive Pokemon that would otherwise want to switch into it.
Niche Items
========
**Damage-boosting Items**: Items like Life Orb and Black Belt can give Flamigo the power it needs to break through some Pokemon while still being able to switch its moves.
**Power Herb**: With Sky Attack, Power Herb can provide a one-time powerful attack that does not have the recoil damage like Brave Bird does.
**Lum Berry**: By allowing Flamigo to set up against Pokemon that want to debilitate it with a status effect, Lum Berry can be used to transform it into a strong sweeper.
Tera
========
Flamigo is too frail, weak, and slow to take advantage of Terastallization. Its offensive typing has good synergy, with both combining to form a near unresisted combination. If it is made a Tera Captain, Tera Fighting and Flying are the only two types that make sense, giving a boost to whichever STAB option is better in the matchup.
Draft Strategy
========
Flamigo likes to be on bulky offense teams that have allies it can pivot to with U-turn but also take advantage of its role as a revenge killer. Pokemon that it can form pivot cores with are also helpful, allowing the offensive pressure it gives to span beyond its own reaches.
**Offensive Pivots**: Pokemon like Greninja, Meowscarada, and Roaring Moon that do not want to switch in directly but can continue to gather momentum through their own U-turns can increase Flamigo’s worth.
**Defensive Pivot**: Pokemon like Iron Treads, Landorus-T, and Rotom-W that can tank hits and get other teammates in make Flamigo much easier to use its strong moves without having to worry about locking itself into something that could be punished.
Checks and Counters
========
**Faster Pokemon**: Faster Pokemon such as Iron Valiant, Enamorus, and Zarude that commonly have ways to boost their Speed will outspeed and easily KO Flamigo.
**Physically Defensive Walls**: Pokemon like Pecharunt, Uxie, and Corviknight that can shrug off Flamigo’s attacks are common answers to it.
**Chip Damage / Recoil**: Damage taken from Brave Bird's recoil and Rocky Helmet adds up, allowing Pokemon like Palafin and Scizor to revenge kill Flamigo with priority moves.
**Fairy-type Pokemon**: Although Fairy-type Pokemon often have mediocre physical bulk, they have no problem switching into Flamigo’s Fighting-type moves and threatening it out with their own Fairy-type moves.
