Floatzel Discussion

Floatzel has its place, which is in the UU enviornment I think most would agree on that point. The problem for OU(sorta) is its Attack and Speed are just good enough to have you almost think it could work in OU, then you see its terrible defenses and realise sure, it can dent a lot of things, but it usually ends up getting KOed fairly quickly. My Main Concern being I am sure there are a bunch of things that would survive hits (even from Choice Band) but come right back and be able to OHKO Floatzel with some strong attack...
For that reason I do also like the Bulk Up set, its never all that hard to find something to pass Attack and Defense to either.

But I do Agree with what Tauros said... If played right this thing could probably take down a lot of stuff before toppling over. And you get a sense of satisfaction by using something more uncommon to great effect.

In truth, i believe it's actually BL. The Bulk Up set especially can turn the game around, even in OU. The CB, not so much, they are better CBer's around in OU, you can't deny it. But the bulk up set? Definately something to watch out for.

And if the bulk up set can work in OU, it's probably (I'll say 60% or so) going to be gamebreaking in UU. So, there's only 1 tier left for it go to.

O, and i nvr attacked kristy. In fact, i went as far as to use Mimi in my team.

When I was talking about Espeon's decent defense I meant its Special defense, which allows it to make sturdy subs against special attacks.

I just wonder how this "borderline" Tier thinking in the long run is going to work out for 4th generation specifically... It may end up getting a lot of useful things killed in a regular enviornment, and yet have others whine in UU that these things are "Too Strong". Unless an entire metagame develops for the 4th gen around these borderline things, we could see a LOT of good pokemon go untried/unused because they aren't "quite good enough", or "Pokemon X does this better".

I really hate the ideology of "well pokemon X does this better"... Well what if I dont like Pokemon X and the pokemon I am using is good enough, and one of my favorites... (I guess a good example of this would be what came out of the Blaziken discussion topic and how Infernape does what Blaziken can do but better... Well what if Blaziken is one of my favorite pokemon? Yes, i know Infernape does it better, I am glad you pointed that out, but that doesnt help any does it?)

I donno...

<Alper> i like how everybody was KIRSTY HARKA UR DUMB WEAK POKEMON BIZEL SHIT
<Alper> and jumpman made a post
<Alper> now everybody is "kristy id love to see you beat retards using bog standards with cute pokemon like floatzel ^_____^ also ur cute"

lol

Gyarados can still Earthquake or Stone Edge though which will hurt before Bulk Upping, and Stone Edge CH will hurt afterwards. Otherwise I agree that Floatsel can be pretty good sometimes under the right circumstances. It has "switchineritis" though, but the handful of Milotic will help.
Oh, I was assuming Gyarados was switching in on a Bulk Up, which in my mind is more fair an assumption than Floatzel routinely getting by its obvious switchinitis. Unlike a LOT of dangerous stat uppers, like the aforementioned Raikou, Espeon and Jynx, including things like Tyranitar, Salamence, Snorlax, Garchomp and Rhyperior, and even Weavile (I'm excluding, like, Azelf I guess), Floatzel can get away with its stat up move like 9-out-of-10 times from the very beginning thanks to its speed and there being so few safe switches into it.

If its lucky enough to take no damage at all coming in (Jirachi U-Turn anyone?), they can and should expect CB and therefore why would they switch in anything but Starmie or Sceptile, since Aero, Jolt, Gengar, Zam, Weavile all would take ridiculous damage from Waterfall? That's why I think this can really work — Bulk up is one of the most underrated moves in the whole game, and so is Taunt, which has been in my top three favorite moves (with Substitute and Baton Pass being #1 and #2, guess why) since 2004 when I put it on my Skarmory over the standard Rest and never looked back. When you combine two awesome moves like that on a pokemon who can actually make them work, good things can happen etc

I actually prefer Kristy's Bulk Up set to Jump's, though it will likely be called FloatzJump (it's already happening). Kristy suffers the Espy Curse, my sets (I'm called Espy Psyche on NB) are never recognized because I posted them. If Jumpman/Phuquoph posted the same set it would be popular.

As far as Floatzel goes, it's a major disruption to some teams like EspyJump was. Also yeah it's a decent CBer but Kristy's pass set is the best I've seen yet.

though it will likely be called FloatzJump (it's already happening).

Anyone naming ANY set after ANY user, person, thing, etc deserves to get shot in both of their knees, ankles and shoulders in my opinion. But it's true that people prefer to use what good players promote.

Wow I really hope that Floatzel will at least be BL, thanks to Jumpman of course!~ ^.^

It could be FloatzJump and EspyJump! <333 And I would really love to let this weasel take down some things like Garchomp with them not knowing it. What should the EVs be?

And thanks for the replies you guys and the compliments and stuff!

Theme Park with a bunch of waterslides, if I'm not mistaken...I've actually been there either once or no times at all lol and may be confusing it with Cedar Point or something equally obscure to some

I actually live near Houston, a site where they removed the only Theme Park ina possible 80 mile radius. SixFlags used to stand there, but for clarification, the "waterfall" rides were in the SplashTown section, or at least the Houston SixFlags was. Basically, it was a Rollercoaster Park + Water Park, but it didn't necessarily own the company who built the Water Park, IIRC.

Guess what it got turned into? An immense parking lot. A theme park got sold to make a parking lot? I was shocked right there. I heard rumors that the park didn't get enough year-round visitors to pay for the costs to keep it up, and the money made in Spring and Summer wasn't enough to cover for the whole year.

Oh well. Six Flags smelt like BO anyways, and every ride there had the possibility of collapsing under fat people, which Houston is comprised of. =P

I digress, I really like those Floatzel movesets. I really didn't like himat first, with the crappy defenses, but I see how you work around that by making him into a pseudo EspyJumper and a decent CBer.

Lol @ themepark discussion. ^.^;

I will have both Floatzels, the FloatzJump one AND the CB one. The CB one will be the one I catch and train ingame (since I could change the Evs around later with berries) and that is the one I get attached to most.

I have a question, though... Is it only the FloatzJump one that is BL capable, or is it the CB one, too?

Sorry for the double post, but I just had to tell you guys that the Floatzel set that we made up is everywhere on Psypoke and serebii and stuff its sooo cool its like a Floatzel convention!~ ^.^ Yay us!

And, would someone answer my question please?

CB Floatsel isn't very good because it has trouble switching in, and compared to other fragile CB users, it does way less damage. Well, it's nice that Floatsel gets to use Waterfall, which takes advantage of the heavy Rock/Ground metagame we'll probably be seeing soon...

Both sets if used intelligently can cause a splash in the OU metagame (I'm not saying Floatzel is OU, I'm just saying he can work there much like how ADV's BL Tauros/Gardevoir and UU Jumpluff/Cradily work fine in OU), but I'm still going to stand by my original stance that using Floatzel without Baton Pass is a waste.

Can you use this set

Rain Dance
Ice Beam
HP: Electric / Grass / Crunch
Aqua Jet / Surf

or is that a common moveset for all Pokemon and allowed Pokemon with Thunder to come in and destroy a team

Mmm I see what you mean, aeroshadow!~

I'm going to make TWO Floatzels. One CB Floatzel which will also be my ingame Floatzel that I will name 2TailsRBettaThan1 ahaha. The second one will be Jumpman's awesome Floatzel which I will name FloatzJump after him! Yay me!

@ post above me: Wow that set is very unique, but I don't think you should use special attacks on Floatzel since his attack is much higher. I HAVE heard that Ice Beam > Ice Fang, but... I'm not too sure. ^.^;

And isn't it also a waste if Floatzel doesn't get to use its ability?
