Pros
florgesr.png

flabebe.png
- Good Special Attack Stat of 112
flabebe.png
- The highest Special Defense currently available in Generation 9
flabebe.png
-
1670357308270.png
typing provides good defenses and a strong STAB move in Moonblast
flabebe.png
-
1670359291279.png
Tera finally allows Florges to use an ability in singles
flabebe.png
- A whopping 10 color combinations to choose from

florgeso.png
Cons
florgeso.png

flabebeb.png
- Relatively slow Speed of 75

flabebeb.png
- Other defensive stats are disappointing with 78 HP and 68 Defense
flabebeb.png
- Very limited offensive coverage, Chilling Water is the only move available not resisted by
1670359140216.png

flabebeb.png
- Limited access to status moves, essentially just Trick
flabebeb.png
- Relatively low HP for a Wish passer

Terastallization Potential
florgesy.png

1670357308270.png
can be used to boost the power of Moonblast to add some extra punch in a pinch

1670359383721.png
can be used on Stored Power sets to further increase the power that had been stored previously

1670359291279.png
can be used to harness to power of Flower Veil, making Florges immune to status effects and stat drops

Potential Sets

Mixed Wall/Cleric
Florges @ Leftovers
Ability: Flower Veil
Tera Type: Fairy / Grass
EVs: 252 HP / 252 Def / 4 SpD
Bold Nature
IVs: 0 Atk
- Wish
- Protect / Synthesis
- Moonblast
- Psychic / Energy Ball / Giga Drain

With this classic Wish/Protect set, Florges is more than bulky enough to shrug off most attacks and provide healing to her teammates and to herself. With the unfortunate loss of Aromatherapy, the final move slot is open again. Psychic and Energy Ball provide strong coverage moves with Psychic providing the better neutral coverage. Giga Drain is also an option for some extra self-sustain. While you can Tera this set, it is usually better to use that on Florges' teammates.

Stored Power Sweeper
Florges @ Leftovers
Ability: Flower Veil
Tera Type: Psychic
EVs: 252 HP / 252 Def / 4 SpD
Bold Nature
IVs: 0 Atk
- Calm Mind
- Wish / Synthesis
- Stored Power
- Moonblast

This is more of a gimmick set that is all about using Florges' bulk to build up Calm Mind boosts before becoming
1670361962163.png
and unleashing the original 300-ish (not really) BP move on whatever stands in front of her. The prevalence of
1670361949891.png
types in UU makes carrying a second attacking move a requirement in order have any hopes of sweeping anything.

Flower Veil Sweeper
Florges @ Leftovers
Ability: Flower Veil
Tera Type: Grass
EVs: 252 HP / 252 Def / 4 SpD
Bold Nature
IVs: 0 Atk
- Energy Ball / Giga Drain
- Moonblast / Psychic
- Calm Mind
- Wish / Synthesis

My personal favorite set, this utilizes
1670359291279.png
Tera to allow Florges to benefit from Flower Veil herself, making her immune to status effects and stat drops. Florges, now able to set up without fear of Toxic or Haze, has a choice to make when it comes to her new STAB, Energy Ball provides consistent damage while Giga Drain once again allows for extra self healing, or you could even do something outrageous like Petal Dance. Florges will retain her
1670357308270.png
STAB after Tera so Moonblast remains powerful but Psychic could also be an option to deal with the
1670361913041.png
and
1670361921377.png
types that threaten you. This set can also be modified to work in the sun with Solar Beam as your main STAB move and Synthesis optionally replacing Wish.

florgesb.png
Overall
florgesb.png

In her three year absence Florges has unfortunately lost some very useful tools in Aromatherapy/Heal Bell, Defog, and Toxic with relatively little in return in terms of new moves. However, Terastallization allows Florges to finally use one of her abilities in singles and it is quite a powerful one too. However, if Tera is going to be banned then Florges will probably have to settle for being little more special wall and cleric in the very low tiers with little in the way of moveset variety. But, with the way things are right now, Florges is a fun, not-so-delicate flower to play around with.

Florges Compared to the Competition
1670426689955.png

Florges' most common role will be that of a Cleric and Wall, this section is to compare her to the other Pokemon in UU who also fill this niche

1670426705782.png
Vs Sylveon
1670426707343.png

Offense:

+ Florges has higher base speed (75 vs 60)
- Sylveon's Pixelate Hyper Voice is stronger than Florges' Moonblast (108 BP vs 95 BP)
- Sylveon has a more versatile movepool with Shadow Ball, Psyshock, and Yawn
Defense:
+ Florges has better special bulk (78/154 vs 95/135)
+ Florges has access to more recovery options in Synthesis and Giga Drain
- Sylveon has better physical bulk (95/65 vs 78/68)

1670426711526.png
Vs Dachsbun
1670426712615.png

Offense:

+ Florges has 112 SPA compared to Dachbun's 80 ATK
+ Florges has access to set up moves like Calm Mind
- Dachsbun is faster (95 v 75)
- Dachsbun has access to a wider movepool including Body Press and Ice Fang
- Dachsbun has access to status moves like Yawn and Roar
Defense:
+ Florges has significantly better special bulk (78/154 vs 57/80)
+ Florges has access to more recovery options in Synthesis and Giga Drain
- Dachsbun has better physical bulk (57/115 vs 78/68)
- Dachsbun has Well-Baked Body provides a
1670426720577.png
immunity and is always active unlike Florges' abilities

1670426728683.png
Vs Scream Tail
1670426733342.png

Offense:

+ Florges is able to actually deal damage
- Scream Tail is significantly faster (111 vs 75)
- Scream Tail has access to status moves like Stealth Rock and Thunder Wave
Defense:
+ Florges has slightly better special bulk (78/154 vs 115/115)
+ Florges has access to more recovery options in Synthesis and Giga Drain
~ Scream Tail gains a weakness to
1670426741620.png
, loses the resistance to
1670426749962.png
, and gains increased resistances to
1670426763603.png
and
1670426768932.png

- Scream Tail has the ability to boost its defenses with Protosynthesis
- Scream Tail's 115/99/115 defenses allow it to act as a better overall wall than Florges

197.png
Vs Umbreon
197.png

Offense:

+ Florges is not dependent on Foul Play
+ Florges is faster (75 vs 65)
- Umbreon has access to status moves like Taunt and Thunder Wave
Defense:
~
1670426954699.png
type vs
1670426749962.png
type, both have immunities but Florges has 1 more resistance and 1 less weakness
- Umbreon has better bulk all-round (95/110/130 vs 78/68/154)
- Umbreon has Synchronize which punishes status without the need for Tera like Flower Veil

alomomomomomomoma.png
Vs Alomomola
alomomomomomomoma.png

Offense:

+ Florges has higher a better attacking stat (112 SPA vs 75 ATK)
+ Florges is faster (75 vs 65)
Defense:
+ Florges has significantly better special bulk (78/154 vs 165/45)
~
1670426954699.png
type vs
1670436824172.png
type, Florges has an immunity but one less resistance
- Alomomola has significantly better physical bulk (165/80 vs 78/68)
- Alomomola has Regenerator which synergizes well with Wish passing

HP Chart
The higher the HP, the more health healed by Wish
alomomomomomomoma.png
- Alomomola - 165
1670426728683.png
- Scream Tail - 115

From having used it a lot, the main threats to the Flower Veil CM set are probably Tinkaton, Trick Scarf, Encore from things like Grafaiai (and Tinkaton), and being revenged by shit like Slither Wing after going Tera Grass to avoid status or tank certain hits. Honorable mention to the one dude using Haze Cryogonal on the ladder.

Using it properly means not popping the tera too soon or at all vs. offense (its original typing is better defensively), and switching out frequently if you suspect a Trick or Encore is coming. But in the stall matchup for instance, you probably wanna pop the tera quite early to become a wonderful switch-in to pretty much literally everything.

I feel like you absolutely need Synthesis on any good Florges set. Two-turn recovery will always be a pain and having access to both Synthesis and Wish is a boon for any balance team and itself. I personally like Moonblast / Synthesis / Wish / a filler move; this retains its defensive utility while also giving it incredible longevity. This is similar to a set it would run in ORAS UU, but with Aromatherapy as the filler move. You could possibly opt for Calm Mind / Giga Drain + Tera Grass in the last slot, entirely up to the player really. I just don't think Protect + Wish takes advantage of the fact that Florges has the rare access to instant and reliable recovery among its fellow Wish passers.

Great post otherwise! Tera Grass is really creative, because I think I forgot that it had Flower Veil and didn't realize it worked like this LOL

Thanks so much! I now have Synthesis listed as an option instead of Protect.

I got a Shiny Blue Florges In game and love using Tera Grass with her. In game I have a Baton pass Oricorio Sensue set up to make her extremly strong, but since BP is banned in Smogon you have to go for other options to power her up. Honestly I feel that a set with Life Orb, Giga Drain/Energy Ball/Petal Dance, Moon Blast, Chilling Water, and Synthisis would be a good option. I get why calm mind is good but specifically with a Grass Tera set having just 2 attacking moves of Fairy and Steel wall her too much. Chilling water helps a lot with getting around most things that wall her, and Synthsis (with giga drain too maybe) helps with the Life orb self damage. Plus CHilling water lowering attack just makes her even bulkier, harder to attack her physical side.

Florges stock has fallen a bit since the beginning of UU, but it still holding up well. It stands out as very sturdy special wall that does well against the vast majority of attackers with a notable exception being Gengar. It also hits pretty hard and outspeeds many of the other defensive pokemon. One of its weaknesses is that its physical bulk is lacking and besides Tera Blast can't do much against Steel Types such as Tinkaton.
