[OVERVIEW]

Flygon is a solid pivot in RU thanks to its good Speed tier, good offensive typing, and access to U-turn. It can primarily act as a revenge killer with Choice Scarf, pressuring threats such as Raikou, Salazzle, and Mega Sceptile with its good STAB combination and decent offenses. Flygon is a versatile Pokemon, as its moveset is highly customizable to accommodate for certain threats and uses. For example, it could run Defog to clear entry hazards for its team, Aerial Ace to revenge kill Virizion, or Iron Tail to deal super effective damage to Fairy-types. However, Flygon is often overshadowed by Zygarde-10%, which has a better Speed tier and access to Extreme Speed and Thousand Arrows to combat revenge killers and beat Flying-types and Pokemon with Levitate. Flygon does have better bulk, Levitate, and U-turn to make it a better Choice Scarf user, however. It also has competition as a Dragon-type Choice Scarf user from Goodra, which can threaten Pokemon that Flygon cannot and is forced out by fewer Pokemon. Flygon's defenses are far from stellar, limiting its defensive potential. Its Attack is also decent, but many times it is forced to use U-turn against bulkier teams. Flygon's Dragon / Ground typing allows it to safely come in against most Fire-types like Salazzle and Electric-types like Raikou, but it means that Flygon needs to be cautious of common Ice-type coverage moves from Mega Blastoise, Donphan, and Raikou as well as Ice-types like Mega Glalie and Mega Abomasnow.

[SET COMMENTS]
Moves
========

U-turn is Flygon's best move on this set, as it not only separates Flygon from its competition but allows it to gain and maintain offensive momentum throughout the match by escaping bad matchups such as against Slowbro, Mega Blastoise, and Milotic. Earthquake is a strong STAB move with very few drawbacks. Outrage is Flygon's strongest Dragon-type STAB option and is generally a safe move to use late-game once Fairy-types are taken care of. Aerial Ace is used to revenge kill Virizion and other weakened Grass-types like Shaymin and Mega Sceptile. Dragon Claw is Flygon's safest Dragon-type STAB move to use, since it can revenge kill weakened foes such as Mega Sceptile, Virizion, and Noivern and makes Flygon less exploitable by Fairy-types. Defog can clear entry hazards for Flygon's team but should only be used in emergency situations. Fire Punch is also a good choice to revenge kill Bronzong, Escavalier, and weakened Shuca Berry Metagross as well as Grass-types like Virizion, Roserade, and Tangela. However, it's damage output is lackluster, and Flygon misses out on revenge killing Mega Sceptile reliably.

Set Details
========

A Jolly nature with Speed investment and a Choice Scarf ensures that Flygon will outspeed other Choice Scarf users such as Roserade, Houndoom, and Drapion as well as Speed tie with Choice Scarf Shaymin. An Adamant nature can be used instead to give Flygon more power while still being able to outspeed Choice Scarf Toxicroak. Levitate gives Flygon an immunity to Ground-type moves outside of Thousand Arrows, making it a decent switch-in to Pokemon like Rhyperior, Nidoqueen, and Metagross.

Usage Tips
========

Flygon is a good pivot thanks to its access to U-turn and speed, allowing it to escape bad matchups and bring in an offensive answer to the foe, meaning Flygon gains and keeps offensive momentum for its team. Choice Scarf can also turn Flygon into a decent revenge killer if the foe is weak enough or even a late-game cleaner if its checks and counters are gone thanks to its great STAB combination and moves. However, Flygon's main goal is to pivot because this set has only average attacking power, so use U-turn as often as possible to bring other teammates in. Flygon should use its resistances to switch into Pokemon like Ninetales, Raikou, and Rhyperior. This play can be risky, though, since Pokemon like Raikou and Rhyperior can carry Ice-type coverage moves, which can result in losing Flygon. Defog should only be used if clearing Stealth Rock and Spikes is absolutely necessary. Flygon can safely use this move, since it does force switches with its STAB moves, but using this move when the opponent doesn't fall for it can result in Flygon being KOed.

Team Options
========

Flygon fits on teams that need speed control, a soft check to Electric-, Fire-, and Ground-types, and a pivot to safely bring in offensive teammates. Pokemon such as Salazzle, Barbaracle, Toxicroak, and Virizion are good examples of teammates that appreciate being brought safely into battle with U-turn. Salazzle can also put pressure on Fairy-types and Bronzong for Flygon, while Virizion provides a safety net against Knock Off and Trick users. Other Pokemon such as Choice item Raikou, Forretress, and Mega Ampharos can form a pivoting core with Flygon; Raikou can also help beat the bulky Water-types that Flygon has trouble breaking. Steel-types such as Metagross, Escavalier, and Registeel can help Flygon by switching into Ice- and Fairy-type attacks for it. In return, Flygon can threaten Fire-types like Arcanine and Ninetales for these partners. Grass-types such as Roserade, Shaymin, and Mega Sceptile also make decent teammates, since they beat defensive Water-type Pokemon like Mega Blastoise, Slowbro, and Milotic for Flygon, while Flygon can check Pokemon like Salazzle for them in return. Entry hazard setters such as Metagross, Roserade, and Golisopod can provide further offensive pressure when Flygon needs to revenge kill a foe. Golisopod, in particular, appreciates Flygon's U-turn support safely bringing it in and can help mitigate Flygon's lackluster offensive output. Since Flygon does not have a reliable form of recovery, a cleric like Florges and Diancie can be considered to help keep it healthy so it can continue pivoting. These Pokemon also appreciate Flygon's ability to pressure Steel-types like Metagross for them. If Flygon is locked into Defog, it can be easily pressured out, so running another entry hazard remover such as Mega Blastoise, Donphan, and Sigilyph would be recommended.

[STRATEGY COMMENTS]
Other Options
=============

A set using Substitute and Dragon Dance can turn Flygon into a threatening setup sweeper that fits on bulkier offensive teams thanks to Flygon's decent bulk and Levitate. However, this set is outclassed by Zygarde-10%. Iron Tail can also be considered so Flygon can hit Fairy-types for super effective damage. However, Iron Tail's low accuracy makes the move unreliable when it needs to take out these Pokemon.

Checks and Counters
===================

**Bronzong**: Outside of the rare Fire Punch, Bronzong has very little to fear from Flygon, as it resists its Dragon-type STAB moves and avoids Earthquake thanks to Levitate.

**Fairy-types**: Pokemon like Gardevoir, Florges, and Diancie can force Flygon out of the battle if they are healthy enough and take advantage of Flygon if it locks itself into Outrage.

**Physically Defensive Pokemon**: Flygon's average offensive presence means that it struggles with breaking Pokemon such as Cresselia and Porygon2, as they can take any attack from Flygon and retaliate with either Toxic, Moonblast, or Ice Beam. Others like Mega Blastoise, Slowbro, and Milotic can take any attack that Flygon uses and threaten it out with Ice Beam, Toxic, or even a burn from Scald.

**Ice-type Coverage and Ice-types**: Ice-types like Mega Glalie and Mega Abomasnow can threaten Flygon out of battle thanks to their powerful Ice-type moves. Flygon also needs to be careful of potential Ice-type coverage moves from Pokemon like Raikou, Salazzle, Rhyperior, Nidoqueen, and Donphan.

[OVERVIEW]

  • Flygon is a solid Pokemon in RarelyUsed thanks to its nice balanced stats, wide movepool, and offensive typing that allows it to threaten Pokemon such as Metagross, Noivern, and Salazzle.
  • Its access to U-turn, Defog, and solid defensive typing allow Flygon to function as a pivot with Choice Scarf. (Mention that Flygon is a good defog option as it resists Stealth Rock and is immune to spikes, tspikes, and Sticky Web)
  • Flygon can also act as a revenge killer with Choice Scarf, pressuring threats such as Raikou, Salazzle, and Mega Sceptile with it's good STAB combo.
  • While Flygon is by no means a bad Pokemon, it is often overshadowed by Zygarde-10%: they share the same typing, but its Zygarde-10%'s higher speed tier and access to Extreme Speed to combat revenge killers and Thousand Arrows to beat Flying-types and Pokemon with Levitate like Bronzong usually make it the superior choice. (It is also rivalled as an offensive pivot by Goodra that can hit a lot of other Pokemon that Flygon can not while being threatened out by less)
  • Flygon's average stats often let it down, too. Its mediocre bulk means it has issues switching into even resisted hits and its Attack ,while not bad, means that it often struggles to break defensive Pokemon such as Slowbro, Milotic, and especially Bronzong. (you mentioned in the first point is has 'nice balanced stats' and here you mention it has average stats, I would mention resisted hits that it struggles to take as well because Slowbro, Milotic, and Bronzong do not have resisted attacks)
  • Dragon/Ground is a decent defensive typing, but it means that Flygon needs to be cautious of common Ice-type coverage moves from Mega Blastoise, Machamp, and Raikou, as well as Ice-types like Mega Glalie, Mega Abomasnow, and Sneasel. (Ice Shard Donphan stops it from even being able to U-turn out and Donphan is used a lot)

Moves
========

  • U-turn is Flygon's best move on this set, allowing it to gain and maintain offensive momentum throughout the match by escaping bad matchups such as agaisnt Slowbro, Mega Blastoise, and Milotic.
  • Dragon Claw is Flygon's safest Dragon-STAB move to use since it can revenge kill weakened foes without making itself more exploitable by Fairy-types.
  • Earthquake is a strong STAB move with very few drawbacks to using it.
  • Defog can clear entry hazards for Flygon's team and is generally safe to use.
  • Tailwind can also be considered over Defog to provide a speed buffer for Flygon's team, but is usually more situational than Defog.
  • Outrage is a much stronger STAB option, but keep in mind that locking Flygon into Outrage is detrimental if the foe still has a Fairy-type on the team.
Set Details
========

  • A Jolly nature with maximum EV investment and a Choice Scarf ensures that Flygon will outspeed other Choice Scarf users such as Tyrantrum, Gardevoir, and Metagross, as well as outpace Yanmega after one Speed Boost and naturally fast Pokemon like Raikou, Salazzle, and Mega Sceptile.
  • Levitate is Flygon's only ability but it gives Flygon an immunity to Ground-type moves outside of Thousand Arrows and Spikes, giving it more defensive utility.
Usage Tips
========

  • Flygon is a good pivot thanks to its access to U-turn and good speed tier, allowing it to escape bad matchups and bring in an offensive answer to the foe, meaning Flygon gains and keeps offensive momentum for its team.
  • Choice Scarf can also turn Flygon into a decent revenge killer if the foe is weak enough or even a late-game cleaner if its checks and counters are gone thanks to its great STAB combination and moves.
  • However, Flygon's main goal is to pivot because this set has only average attacking power, so use U-turn as often as possible for not only momentum purposes, but also to provide chip damage that can later be used to KO the foe if Flygon needs to.
  • When using Flygon, make sure that it is as healthy as possible so that it can continue pivoting. This means keeping it away from status conditions, not bringing Flygon against a strong attack, and not allowing Flygon to lose its Choice Scarf via Knock Off or Trick.
  • If needed be, Flygon can use its defensive resistances to switch into Pokemon like Ninetales, Raikou, and Rhyperior. This play can be risky since Pokemon like Raikou and Rhyperior can carry Ice-type coverage moves, which can result in losing Flygon.
  • Defog should only be used if clearing Stealth Rock and Spikes is absolutely necessary. Flygon can safely use this move since it does force switches with its STAB combination, but using this move when the opponent doesn't fall for it can result in a KO'd Flygon.
Team Options
========

  • Choice Scarf Flygon fits on teams that have frail offensive Pokemon because it can bring them into battle safely.
  • Pokemon such as Salazzle, Barbaracle, Toxicroak, and Virizion are good examples of teammates that appreciate being brought safely into battle with U-turn. Salazzle can also even put pressure on Fairy-types for Flygon and Virizion provides a safety net against Knock Off and Trick users.
  • Other Pokemon such as Choiced Raikou, Forretress, and Mega Ampharos can form a pivoting core with Flygon. Raikou and Rotom-C can also help beat the bulky Water-types that Flygon has trouble breaking.
  • Steel-types such as Metagross, Escavalier, and Registeel can help Flygon by switching into Ice- and Fairy-type attacks for it. Flygon, in return, can threaten Fire-types like Arcanine and Ninetales for these partners.
  • Grass-types such as Roserade, Shaymin, and Mega Sceptile also make decent teammates since they beat defensive Water-type Pokemon like Mega Blastoise, Slowbro, and Milotic for Flygon, while Flygon can check Pokemon like Salazzle for them.
  • Entry hazard setters such as Metagross, Roserade, and Golisopod can provide further offensive pressure when Flygon needs to revenge kill a foe. Golisopod, in particular, appreciates Flygon's U-turn support safely bringing it in.
  • Since this Flygon does not have a reliable form of recovery, a cleric or Healing Wish like Florges, Diancie, or Gardevoir can be considered to help keep Flygon healthy so that it can continue pivoting. All of these Pokemon also appreciate Flygon's ability to pressure Steel-types like Metagross for them.
  • (Other hazard removers or pokemon not weak to hazards are close to necessary because Flygon is easily pressured when Defoging)
[STRATEGY COMMENTS]
Other Options
=============

  • Dragon Dance can turn Flygon into a threatening setup sweeper. However, this kind of set is better done by Zygarde-10% and Tyrantrum, as both of them pressure Flying-types and have much more raw power in Tyrantrum's case.
  • Choice Band can turn Flygon into a wallbreaker with immediate offensive presence, but this set is much better performed by Zygarde-10%, which is much faster and has a better Ground-type STAB move in Thousand Arrows.
  • An offensive Defog set running Leftovers is also plausible, but its lack of extra speed from Choice Scarf is noticeable.
  • Fire Punch can prevent Bronzong from outright walking Flygon, but has little use outside of this scenario.
  • Toxic can catch defensive Water-types like Slowbro and Milotic and other defensive Pokemon like Cresselia and Porygon2 off guard, but this is difficult to justify using considering the arguably stronger utility of U-turn or Defog. (It's easy to justify over Defog if you have another remover on the team)
Checks and Counters
===================

**Bronzong**: Bronzong has very little to fear from Flygon as it resists its Dragon-type STAB moves and avoids Earthquake thanks to Levitate.

**Fairy-types**: Pokemon like Gardevoir, Florges, and Diancie are immune to Flygon's Dragon-moves and can force it out of battle. Gardevoir and Diancie need to be cautious about switching into Earthquake, but Florges can simply heal off the damage with Synthesis or Wish. (Gardevoir has trace so it doesn't need to worry about EQ but U-turn instead)

**Physically Defensive Pokemon**: Flygon's only average offensive presence means that it has issues breaking Pokemon as Cresselia and Porygon2, as they can take any attack from Flygon and retaliate with either Toxic, Moonblast, or Ice Beam.

**Bulky Water-types**: Pokemon like Mega Blastoise, Slowbro, and Milotic can take any Attack that Flygon uses and can threaten it out with either Ice Beam, Toxic, or even a burn from Scald.

**Ice-type Coverage and Ice-types**: Ice-types like Mega Glalie and Mega Abomasnow can threaten Flygon out of battle thanks to thier powerful Ice-type moves. Flygon also needs to be careful of potential Ice-type coverage moves from Pokemon like Raikou, Salazzle, Rhyperior, and Donphan.

Thanks, man. Implemented.

[OVERVIEW]

  • Flygon is a solid pivot in RarelyUsed thanks to its good speed tier, good offensive type, and access to U-turn.
  • Flygon also makes for a decent Defog user since it resists Stealth Rock and Levitate makes it immune to Spikes, Toxic Spikes, and Sticky Web. i would change this to make it more general, something along the lines of its last slot being highly customizable for the team its on (u can run defog, aerial ace, dclaw, iron tail). also being a defogger is definitely not its main selling point.
  • It can also act as a revenge killer with Choice Scarf, pressuring threats such as Raikou, Salazzle, and Mega Sceptile with it's good STAB combination and decent offenses. i would move this bullet up
  • While Flygon is by no means a bad Pokemon, it is often overshadowed by Zygarde-10%: they share the same typing, but its Zygarde-10%'s higher speed tier and access to Extreme Speed to combat revenge killers and Thousand Arrows to beat Flying-types and Pokemon with Levitate like Bronzong usually make it the superior choice. mention its redeeming qualities over zyg: bulk, levitate, uturn, and mention it makes it a better scarfer than zyg but its basically outclassed in anything else it does
  • It also has competition as a Dragon-type Choice Scarf user from Goodra, which can threaten Pokemon that Flygon cannot and it is forced out by less Pokemon.
  • Flygon's average stats often let it down, too: its mediocre bulk means it has issues switching into even resisted hits repeatedly and its Attack, while not bad, means that it often struggles to break defensive Pokemon such as Slowbro, Milotic, and especially Bronzong. i mean its bulk is fine tbh, youre often pivoting it into resisted hits to do its job. instead of saying theyre bad say theyre OKAY but theyre not stellar by any means so ur often slightly underwhelmed by its defensive + offensive presence. also, add onto that by saying it can sometimes end up just being a uturn bot vs bulkier builds
  • Dragon/Ground is a decent defensive typing, but it means that Flygon needs to be cautious of common Ice-type coverage moves from Mega Blastoise, Donphan, and Raikou, as well as Ice-types like Mega Glalie and Mega Abomasnow. expand on this (or make a new bullet) by listing important resistances it has. switching into fires is pretty noteworthy, especially salazzle.

Moves
========

  • U-turn is Flygon's best move on this set, allowing it to gain and maintain offensive momentum throughout the match by escaping bad matchups such as agaisnt Slowbro, Mega Blastoise, and Milotic. mention it sets it apart from competition too
  • Dragon Claw is Flygon's safest Dragon-STAB move to use since it can revenge kill weakened foes without making itself more exploitable by Fairy-types. mention its a safe alternative when ur facing something like noivern/mscept/ weakened viriz + a fairy or something that takes advantage of outrage in the back
  • Earthquake is a strong STAB move with very few drawbacks to using it.
  • Defog can clear entry hazards for Flygon's team and is generally safe to use. no its not, status moves on choice sets are emergency buttons. u are never having scarf flygon as ur only removal. please change this
  • Tailwind can also be considered over Defog to provide a speed buffer for Flygon's team, but is usually more situational than Defog. drop this to oo at best. im not even sure if it should stay on the analysis but w/e
  • Outrage is a much stronger STAB option, but keep in mind that locking Flygon into Outrage is detrimental if the foe still has a Fairy-type on the team. mention its generally safe to use late game when flygon can clean
  • bullet on aerial ace
Set Details
========

  • A Jolly nature with maximum EV investment and a Choice Scarf ensures that Flygon will outspeed other Choice Scarf users such as Tyrantrum, Gardevoir, and Metagross, as well as outpace Yanmega after one Speed Boost and naturally fast Pokemon like Raikou, Salazzle, and Mega Sceptile. add an adamant mention and update ur examples
  • Levitate is Flygon's only ability but it gives Flygon an immunity to Ground-type moves outside of Thousand Arrows and Spikes, giving it more defensive utility. uh flygon isnt hit by spikes. also, give examples.
Usage Tips
========

  • Flygon is a good pivot thanks to its access to U-turn and good speed tier, allowing it to escape bad matchups and bring in an offensive answer to the foe, meaning Flygon gains and keeps offensive momentum for its team.
  • Choice Scarf can also turn Flygon into a decent revenge killer if the foe is weak enough or even a late-game cleaner if its checks and counters are gone thanks to its great STAB combination and moves. i think ur confused about flygons role. its not a pivot that can act as speed control.. its speed control AND a pivot. the 2 are not mutually exclusive. they dont act differently. its still the same mon. idk if im making sense but yea
  • However, Flygon's main goal is to pivot because this set has only average attacking power, so use U-turn as often as possible for not only momentum purposes, but also to provide chip damage that can later be used to KO the foe if Flygon needs to. uturn isnt really getting much chip. just say its good for bringing stuff in.
  • When using Flygon, make sure that it is as healthy as possible so that it can continue pivoting. This means keeping it away from status conditions, not bringing Flygon against a strong attack, and not allowing Flygon to lose its Choice Scarf via Knock Off or Trick. this is a given already
  • If needed be, Flygon can should use its defensive resistances to switch into Pokemon like Ninetales, Raikou, and Rhyperior. This play can be risky since Pokemon like Raikou and Rhyperior can carry Ice-type coverage moves, which can result in losing Flygon. mention salazzle too
  • Defog should only be used if clearing Stealth Rock and Spikes is absolutely necessary. Flygon can safely use this move since it does force switches with its STAB combination, but using this move when the opponent doesn't fall for it can result in a KO'd Flygon.
Team Options
========

  • Choice Scarf Flygon fits on teams that have frail offensive Pokemon because it can bring them into battle safely. flygon fits on teams that need speed control, a soft check to elecs/grounds/fires, pivoting, ect. make this more general
Golisopod, in particular, appreciates Flygon's U-turn support safely bringing it in. mention it helps mitigate flygons somewhat lacking offensive output
  • Since this Flygon does not have a reliable form of recovery, a cleric or Healing Wish like Florges, Diancie, or Gardevoir realistically ur never running scarf garde with flygon can be considered to help keep Flygon healthy so that it can continue pivoting. All of these Pokemon also appreciate Flygon's ability to pressure Steel-types like Metagross for them.
  • If Flygon is locked into Defog then it can be easily pressured out, so running another entry hazard setter such as Mega Blastoise, Donphan, and Forretress would be recommended.

Other Options
=============

  • Dragon Dance can turn Flygon into a threatening setup sweeper. However, this kind of set is better done by Zygarde-10% and Tyrantrum, as both of them pressure Flying-types and have much more raw power in Tyrantrum's case. dd is almost totally outclassed ever since glig left so make it sub dd to differentiate it from zyg. also specify rp trum, dd is not used.
  • Choice Band can turn Flygon into a wallbreaker with immediate offensive presence, but this set is much better performed by Zygarde-10%, which is much faster and has a better Ground-type STAB move in Thousand Arrows.
  • An offensive Defog set running Leftovers is also plausible, but its lack of extra speed from Choice Scarf is noticeable. these are ungood
  • Fire Punch can prevent Bronzong from outright walking Flygon, but has little use outside of this scenario. false, add escav here and also mention it hits weakened shuca metagross, not to mention ur still doing /somewhat/ respectable damage to grasses that resist eq without having to outrage lock. u could honestly make a case for this going up to moves
  • Toxic can catch defensive Water-types like Slowbro and Milotic and other defensive Pokemon like Cresselia and Porygon2 off guard. It's easy to fit if Flygon's team has another entry hazard remover. toxic is impossible to fit. if u want to deal with a bulky mon just uturn into a partner that deals w it.
  • bullet on iron tail
Checks and Counters
===================

Diancie needs to be cautious about switching into Earthquake, but Florges can simply heal off the damage with Synthesis or Wish and Gardevoir can Trace Flygon's Levitate to avoid Earthquake but is still hurt by U-turn. i mean flygons going to be spamming eq most of the game until it gets the opportunity to spam outrage. just say these can threaten it out if healthy and can take advantage of outrage locks

**Physically Defensive Pokemon**: Flygon's only average offensive presence means that it has issues breaking Pokemon as Cresselia and Porygon2, as they can take any attack from Flygon and retaliate with either Toxic, Moonblast, or Ice Beam.

**Bulky Water-types**: Pokemon like Mega Blastoise, Slowbro, and Milotic can take any Attack that Flygon uses and can threaten it out with either Ice Beam, Toxic, or even a burn from Scald. u could just leave it at "bulky pokemon" tbh, theres nothing particularly special about water types that stop flygon

**Ice-type Coverage and Ice-types**: Ice-types like Mega Glalie and Mega Abomasnow can threaten Flygon out of battle thanks to thier powerful Ice-type moves. Flygon also needs to be careful of potential Ice-type coverage moves from Pokemon like Raikou, Salazzle, Rhyperior, Nidoqueen, and Donphan.

Moves
========

  • A set using Substitute and Dragon Dance can turn Flygon into a threatening setup sweeper. However, this kind of set is better done by Zygarde-10%, as it can pressure Flying-types and revenge killers with Extreme Speed. the point of this set is to try and differentiate itself from zydog. u can mention theres still little point in using it w zydog around, but it can be cool on certain teams cause better bulk + levitate
  • Iron Tail can also be considered so that Flygon can hit Fairy-types for super effective damage. However, Iron Tail's low accuracy makes the move unreliable when it needs to take out these Pokemon.
Checks and Counters

**Bronzong**: Outside of the rare Fire Punch, Bronzong has very little to fear from Flygon as it resists its Dragon-type STAB moves and avoids Earthquake thanks to Levitate.

**Fairy-types**: Pokemon like Gardevoir, Florges, and Diancie can force Flygon out of the battle if they are healthy enough and can take advantage of Flygon if it locks itself into Outrage.

  • However, Flygon's main goal is to pivot because this set has only average attacking power, so use U-turn as often as possible to bring other teammates in.
  • Flygon should use its defensive resistances to switch into Pokemon like Ninetales, Raikou, and Rhyperior.
========

  • Flygon fits on teams that need speed control, a soft check to Electric- Fire- and Ground-types, and a pivot to safely bring in offensive teammates.
  • Pokemon such as Salazzle, Barbaracle, Toxicroak, and Virizion are good examples of teammates that appreciate being brought safely into battle with U-turn. Salazzle can also even put pressure on Fairy-types and Bronzong for Flygon and Virizion provides a safety net against Knock Off and Trick users.
  • Other Pokemon such as Choiced Raikou, Forretress, and Mega Ampharos can form a pivoting core with Flygon. Raikou and Rotom-C can also help beat the bulky Water-types that Flygon has trouble breaking. not sure if id add rotom c to an analysis in 2019. maybe try passimian
Golisopod, in particular, appreciates Flygon's U-turn support safely bringing it in and can help mitigate Flygon's lacking offensive output.
  • Since Flygon does not have a reliable form of recovery, a cleric like Florges and Diancie can be considered to help keep Flygon healthy so that it can continue pivoting. These Pokemon also appreciate Flygon's ability to pressure Steel-types like Metagross for them.
  • If Flygon is locked into Defog then it can be easily pressured out, so running another entry hazard setter such as Mega Blastoise, Donphan, and Forretress would be recommended.
[STRATEGY COMMENTS]
Other Options
=============

===================

**Physically Defensive Pokemon**: Flygon's only average offensive presence means that it has issues breaking Pokemon as Cresselia and Porygon2, as they can take any attack from Flygon and retaliate with either Toxic, Moonblast, or Ice Beam. Others like Mega Blastoise, Slowbro, and Milotic can take any Attack that Flygon uses and can threaten it out with either Ice Beam, Toxic, or even a burn from Scald.

Flygon is a solid pivot in RarelyUsed RU thanks to its good speed tier Speed tier, good offensive type typing, and access to U-turn. It can also act as a revenge killer with Choice Scarf, pressuring threats such as Raikou, Salazzle, and Mega Sceptile with it's its good STAB combination and decent offenses. Flygon is a versatile Pokemon, as its move set is highly customizable to accommodate for certain threats and uses. For example, it could run Defog to clear entry hazards for its team, Aerial Ace to revenge kill Virizion, or Iron Tail to deal super effective damage to Fairy-types. While Flygon is by no means a bad Pokemon, it However, Flygon is often overshadowed by Zygarde-10%: (Remove colon, AC), which has a better Speed tier and access to Extreme Speed and Thousand Arrows to combat revenge killers and beat Flying-types and Pokemon with Levitate. Flygon does have better bulk, Levitate, and U-turn to make it a better Choice Scarf user, however. but it's Zygarde-10%'s higher speed tier and access to Extreme Speed to combat revenge killers and Thousand Arrows to beat Flying-types and Pokemon with Levitate like Bronzong usually make it the superior choice. (I reworded this section to help it flow better in a way that makes sense) It also has competition as a Dragon-type Choice Scarf user from Goodra, which can threaten Pokemon that Flygon cannot and it is forced out by less Pokemon. Flygon's defenses are okay but far from stellar, limiting its defensive potential. It's Its Attack is also decent but many times it is forced to use U-turn against bulkier teams. Dragon/Ground is a decent defensive typing as it can Flygon's Dragon / Ground allows it to safely come in against most Fire-types like Salazzle or Electric-types like Raikou, but it means that Flygon needs to be cautious of common Ice-type coverage moves from Mega Blastoise, Donphan, and Raikou, as well as Ice-types like Mega Glalie and Mega Abomasnow.

U-turn is Flygon's best move on this set, as it not only seperates separates Flygon from its competition but it allows it to gain and maintain offensive momentum throughout the match by escaping bad matchups such as agaisnt against Slowbro, Mega Blastoise, and Milotic. Earthquake is a strong STAB move with very few drawbacks to using it. Outrage is Flygon's strongest Dragon-STAB Dragon-type STAB option and is generally a safe move to use late-game once Fairy-types are taken care of. Aerial Ace is used to revenge kill Virizion and other weakened Grass-types like Shaymin and Mega Sceptile. Dragon Claw is Flygon's safest Dragon-STAB Dragon-type STAB move to use, (AC) since it can revenge kill weakened foes such as Mega Sceptile, Virizion, and Noivern and it makes Flygon less exploitable by Fairy-types. Defog can clear entry hazards for Flygon's team, but should only be used in emergency situations. Fire Punch is also a good choice to revenge kill Bronzong, Escavalier, and weakened Shuca Berry Metagross, (RC) as well as Grass-types like Virizion, Roserade, and Tangela. However, its offensive output is lackluster outside of these Pokemon and Flygon misses out on revenge killing Mega Sceptile reliably.

It also has competition as a Dragon-type Choice Scarf user from Goodra, which can threaten Pokemon that Flygon cannot and is forced out by less Pokemon.

Moves
========

U-turn is Flygon's best move on this set, as it not only separates Flygon from its competition but allows Flygon to gain and maintain offensive momentum throughout the match by escaping bad matchups such as against Slowbro, Mega Blastoise, and Milotic. However, its offensive output is lackluster and Flygon misses out on revenge killing Mega Sceptile reliably.

Set Details
========

Levitate is Flygon's only ability but gives Flygon an immunity to Ground-type moves outside of Thousand Arrows, making it a decent switch-in to Pokemon like Rhyperior, Nidoqueen, and Metagross.

Usage Tips
========

Flygon is a good pivot thanks to its access to U-turn and speed control, allowing it to escape bad matchups and bring in an offensive answer to the foe, meaning Flygon gains and keeps offensive momentum for its team.

========

Salazzle can also put pressure on Fairy-types and Bronzong for Flygon,(AC) while Virizion provides a safety net against Knock Off and Trick users. Other Pokemon such as Choice item Raikou, Forretress, and Mega Ampharos can form a pivoting core with Flygon. Raikou can also help beat the bulky Water-types that Flygon has trouble breaking. Since Flygon does not have a reliable form of recovery, a cleric like Florges and Diancie can be considered to help keep Flygon healthy so it can continue pivoting. These Pokemon also appreciate Flygon's ability to pressure Steel-types like Metagross for them. If Flygon is locked into Defog, then it can be easily pressured out, so running another entry hazard remover such as Mega Blastoise, Donphan, and Sigilyph would be recommended.

[STRATEGY COMMENTS]
Other Options
=============

===================
