Four Player Battles?

Well, just been playing D/P, and enjoying the new 2vs2 system where both you and partner can fight 2 other people simultaneously, leading to 4 plaer battles, and I ws thinking how much fun it would be on something like Shoddybattle, etc. You would have to have a decent strategy, and you and your partner would have to work well together, plus, 4 players means twice the amount of un-predictability as in a normal battle. You would also have to be very smart about your Pokemon, as you can only pick 3, which would have to be good in UU as well as being able to accompant whatever your opponents have.

So, what do you think 4 player 2vs2 would be like? Can you imagine Jibaku and Seph working together, crushing the unprepared :justin:? Does it sound fun? Discuss here, and come up with possible movesets specialised for 4 player 2vs2.

((I'm mainly a lurker, so I just like to watch you veterans discuss things before I try them out))

Gengar+Bronzong with explode
Gengar+garchomp with earthquake
Gengar+Snorlax with selfdestruct and earthquake
lol

but seriously, it would be awesome to be able to play that way in shoddy, could play with my brother online and get crushed by other people, and the i will blame my brother >_<

I doubt that, goldenblem, as you wouldnt know your partners Pokemon unless you'd already battled with them once before, so they might not have Protect, and anyway, Explosion and EQ have reduced power in 2vs2 in DP.

See? This is what I mean. You'd have to prepare for everything with just 3 Pokemon, which is why it would be so tricky, but so rewarding.

No, you're missing the point. You wouldn't know what Pokemon your partner had if it was just some random dude on Shoddy helping you out versus two other random dudes. So you couldn't use accepted double combos, such as Explode Lickilicky, as your opponent may not carry Gengar.

I see what you mean. You'd have to predict what your partner does as well as your two opponents. A lot of the game would be down to human error, but it would be interesting.

Yes, that's precisely what I mean. It would possibly be the hardest metagame, as not only do you have to counter everything, you also have to do it in a way the could complement any of your ally's Pokemon... and that's just with 3 Pokemon. On the other hand, it would also be so much fun. As I said, can you imagine the force that would be Jibaku and Seph, on exactly the same team, working together?

We'd be broken, I guess.

But it would be a challenge, as you would have to predict a) Jibaku's move, b)Opponent 1's move, and c)Opponent 3's move, all at the same time, which is 3 times the amount of prediction as normal. Surely a challenge even for you?

lol, Jibaku and SePh working together is overrated. When two queen bees hatch simultaneously in honeybee nests, they battle until one is dead, and when infant tiger sharks hatch within their mother's body, they fight until only one remains in each half of the mother's body.

Anyways, I wouldn't really want to do this, because it's extremely hard to make sure that you and your opponent have strategies that complement each other, and it eventually becomes "who has the luckier strategy-picking".

Actually SePh would weigh you down with his considerable girth from eating too many Big Mac's and being lazy.

The only thing that would be broken is the chair he sits on :).
Ily SePH!

Moving on, I've supported this idea back in ADV, thinking of how awesome it'd be. In theory it sounds like it would be alot of fun and would add a new dimension to how pokemon is played.

I think this would be a very cool thing to be implemented, especially if you had the option to choose partners and the like.

I always have 2v2 double battles with my friends (Not on shoddy of course). I always got paired with my friend who everyone thought was absolutely rubbish. It was then when i found out his glaceon

owned everything.

I was thinking Jolteon + Electivire.

Jolteon eletricutes 'Vire to get it's engines running. Then vire can sweeep and heal jolteon. The only problem is something with earthquake. But you could try to set up a skill swap to get Electivire in the air.
