Alright, the Haxorus of NU is on the scene:

[Overview]

Fraxure was always a classic case of an otherwise good Pokemon held back by coverage issues. Its movepool was as shallow as could be, with only Dragon-type moves as viable options. However, in the transition to BW2, Fraxure gained numerous new toys in Superpower, Low Kick, and Aqua Tail. As a result, Fraxure stands out among the crowd as the most powerful Dragon in NU, boasting great coverage in just a few moves. Combine that with a great boosting move in Dragon Dance, and you've got a huge threat in the NU metagame.

Fraxure does have its flaws, however. It has a pitiful base 67 Speed, so it fails to outspeed much before it boosts. It also has a bad weakness to Ice, which leaves it vulnerable to powerhouses like Rotom-F and Articuno. However, with its great coverage and high Attack Fraxure is still a force to be reckoned with.

[SET]
name: Dragon Dance
move 1: Dragon Dance
move 2: Outrage
move 3: Low Kick
move 4: Taunt / Substitute
item: Eviolite
ability: Mold Breaker
nature: Jolly
evs: 4 HP / 252 Atk / 252 Spe

[SET COMMENTS]

This set is Fraxure's most common and most dangerous set. Thanks to Dragon Dance, it can boost its high Attack and subpar Speed to formidable levels. With great coverage in just two moves, Fraxure can easily sweep teams after just one boost. It also stands out from Altaria with its much stronger firepower.

Dragon Dance is the crux of this set, boosting Fraxure's speed and power. Outrage is the STAB move of choice, hitting nearly everything for heavy damage, especially after a boost. Low Kick is the preferred coverage move, hitting Steel-types such as Bastiodon and Probopass for great damage. Finally, the last slot is up to the player's needs. Taunt allows Fraxure to set up on threats such as Alomomola, while Substitute allows it to evade Sucker Punch from Skuntank. Keep in mind, however, that Fraxure can take a Sucker Punch, so Substitute is not as necessary.

[ADDITIONAL COMMENTS]

Maximum EV values are invested into Attack and Speed to utilize Dragon Dance as effectively as possible. A Jolly nature is chosen here so that Fraxure can outspeed Swellow after one boost. However, an Adamant nature with an EV spread of 56 HP / 252 Atk / 200 Spe is possible to hit harder, as well as catching base 100 Speed Pokemon, such as Charizard, after one boost; however, being able to outspeed Swellow is generally much more important. The item here depends on the player's needs; Eviolite provides Fraxure with more bulk to set up Dragon Dance effectively, while Life Orb provides more power if bulk is not needed. Superpower is an option over Low Kick if Mawile poses a bigger problem than other Steel-types, but the Attack drop is counterproductive to the set's purpose. Likewise, Dragon Claw, Dual Chop, and Aqua Tail are all perfectly acceptable alternatives, although none of them are as good as the moves listed in the set. Swords Dance is also a decent boosting move alongside Dragon Dance.

As Fraxure does have issues with Steel-types, such as Metang and Mawile, a Pokemon like Sawk is greatly appreciated to deal with said Steel-types. A dual screens user, such as Gardevoir or Musharna, is also immensely helpful to allow Fraxure to attain boosts more easily. Finally, this set pairs well with powerful attackers, such as Zangoose and Swellow, due to their wallbreaking capabilities.

[SET]
name: Choice Band
move 1: Outrage
move 2: Superpower
move 3: Aqua Tail
move 4: Dragon Claw
item: Choice Band
ability: Mold Breaker
nature: Adamant
evs: 4 HP / 252 Atk / 252 Spe

[SET COMMENTS]

As opposed to a setup sweeper, this set aims to hit hard and switch out, keeping up offensive pressure. It also OHKOes the popular users of Stealth Rock and Sturdy. Fraxure also boasts perfect coverage in only a few moves, giving it the edge over other Choice Band users, namely Braviary.

Outrage is chosen as the primary STAB move, seriously denting many Pokemon. Superpower is chosen over Low Kick here; its sheer power can KO many Steel-types, including Probopass and Bastiodon, and also fits this set's hit and run nature. Aqua Tail is chosen for its ability to reliably OHKO Golem, as well as for hitting Golurk super effectively when Outrage is risky. Finally, as no additional coverage is needed, Dragon Claw is in the final moveslot to provide a reliable STAB move over Outrage, although it is considerably weaker.

[ADDITIONAL COMMENTS]

An Adamant nature is chosen here to provide the highest Attack stat attainable to hit hard with Choice Band. A Jolly nature is usable, however, to neutral nature Samurott and Ludicolo; however, the extra Attack provided by an Adamant nature is preferred here. Mold Breaker is the chosen ability to bypass Sturdy, which allows Superpower to OHKO Bastiodon. Low Kick is also a usable option over Superpower for its lack of stat drops, but the latter's hit-and-run nature and power is preferable on this set.

As Fraxure can struggle with Steel-types, Pokemon such as Sawk are immensely helpful to deal with them. As Fraxure is used to OHKO Stealth Rock users, Pokemon that appreciate the lack of said hazard, such as Swellow, benefit from Fraxure's support. Samurott is also useful to remove Regirock and Armaldo, the two Stealth Rock users that Fraxure cannot OHKO. Powerful physical attackers, such as Zangoose, Samurott, and Sawk, also appreciate Fraxure's ability to bypass said walls. To remove Alomomola and Tangela, Spikes support from Cacturne or Garbodor is also greatly appreciated. Additionally, a Pokemon with a trapping ability, such as Probopass or Gothorita, can trap and remove threats such as Bastiodon and Alomomola, respectively. As Fraxure is slow, paralysis support from the likes of Regirock, Regice, or Volbeat is also appreciated to remove faster threats. Finally, a slow user of U-turn or Volt Switch, such as Eelektross, is useful to bring Fraxure in safely.

[Other Options]

Fraxure's movepool is almost devoid of other options. That said, there are some unorthodox ones such as X-Scissor and Shadow Claw. Fraxure can also utilize Toxic to wear down walls such as Alomomola and Tangela. Fraxure also has an alternate ability in Rivalry, which can provide more power; however, Mold Breaker is far more reliable. A Liechi or Salac Berry is usable on the Dragon Dance set to keep Fraxure going if it gets low on HP, but both Berries are rather situational. Yache Berry also has a very situational use to survive an Ice Beam from Samurott or Ludicolo, but is completely useless otherwise. Additionally, a Choice Scarf set is usable to transform Fraxure into a solid revenge killer, but it loses out on the sheer power provided by the main sets. Finally, a bulky EV spread of 248 HP / 176 SpD / 88 Spe is also usable with Substitute, Dragon Dance, Dragon Claw, and Low Kick as moves, and can take on walls such as Alomomola.

[Checks and Counters]

Fraxure is one of few Pokemon that boasts no true counters thanks to its unresisted coverage in just a few moves. Metang and Mawile come the closest to countering Fraxure, as they can take an Outrage or Low Kick, but cannot do much back in return. Gurdurr and Piloswine can take an attack and retaliate with priority, but neither can switch in without being 2HKOed. Special Samurott and Ludicolo can outspeed unboosted Fraxure and OHKO with Ice Beam. Ditto with Choice Scarf can check Fraxure as Dragon is weak to itself. Alomomola and Tangela can tank repeated Outrages, but can't do anything back apart from Toxic unless Tangela carries Hidden Power Ice. Finally, Rotom-F and Articuno can fire powerful Ice-type attacks to give Fraxure a chill, but like other Pokemon, they cannot switch in safely.

I know its a WIP, but I'd like to point out some things.
 • I would remove Gorebyss completely from the analysis, it is a bad check or counter to Fraxure and that situation in AC makes no sense, take out Huntail too
 • Low Kick should be put before Superpower
 • add a choice band set of dragon claw / outrage / superpower / aqua tail, breaks through sturdy mons with mold breaker
 • add mawile as the best counter
 • mention choice scarf in OO
 • replace mentions of cinccino with swellow, fraxure outspeeds swellow by 1 point at +1
 • mention that though fraxure has few counters, as long as you don't allow it to set up, it is easily managable
 • add this bulky subdd set in OO, 248 HP / 172 Spe / 88 Spe Careful nature, sub / dragon dance/ dragon claw / low kick
 • the bulky set sets up on amoonguss and other walls while it takes hits very well
 • metang does not suck ass, sheesh, this rant against metang is retarded

If anything add Piloswine to the list of checks. I think it's probably bulky enough to tank a hit and retaliate. Tanking repeated attacks is dumb tho and not much likes taking them from Fraxure.

Tangela is also one of the most statistically bulky walls, can reply if you have HP Ice on it.

If you want to look for faster Ice Beamers, stuff like Ludicolo / Samurott outspeed and Ice Beams it. Unlike Gorebyss who gets outpaced. But then, not sure if they deserve special mention because same goes for most hard hitters in NU. The normal-types, namely.

I would probably slash Taunt / Substitute, and put Swords Dance on the AC of the same set.

Yeah as annoyer said CB probably could become a thing...

If you mention the bulky set in OO, also mention its competition, what its edge is, and the reason for the spread perhaps?

Ironically you forget Ditto in checks, can be especially devastating if you don't have a probopass of your own, lol.

Yeah so in general it looks ok just toughen up more on the C&C.

rotom-f should also be mentioned in c&c, as it outspeeds +1 and ohkos with hp ice. additional comments should also mention teammates that work well with fraxure; most physical sweepers appreciate its ability to clear out defensive walls, but mentioning something like emboar to clear out steels before fraxure gets in is a good idea. i don't have that much experience using fraxure so idk what other teammates work well

i'll be building something around fraxure today so i'll probably have more to add later, but both posts above provide strong suggestions that should be incorporated into your skeleton

On Samurott being, mention Special Samurott. Physical Samurott only has Megahorn to offer, while Special can launch Ice Beam at Fraxure. On Ludicolo, you need to mention Ice Beam and Ice Punch. Otherwise, it cannot counter Fraxure at all with Frax's 2x resistance to Grass and Water type moves. Basically, you should just mention that anything that outspeeds Fraxure and has an Ice type attack, such as Piloswine (priority) or Ludicolo (Swift Swim). Otherwise, we are going to mention Glalie as a counter, who basically is just a Spiker, and cannot OHKO Fraxure with Ice Fang.

Okay, did that. Did not mention Glalie since Glalie sucks, so yeah.

Anyways, ready.

I know this might sound weird, but in all of those sets Fraxure has no moves to hit Shedinja. At the very least, it should be in c&c IMO, unless you are running night slash. Shedinja then SDs or just X-Scissors as you can't do shit except Taunt. So, yeah Shedinja being useful. Again, Night Slash is the only move Fraxure would ever consider running to hit Shedinja, but it is a valid statement.

Yeah, I guess. Shed is worth mentioning since it walls Fraxure without Shadow Claw or Night Slash. Anyways, I added it. (The reason I had forgotten about it is that Shedinja isn't very common, but since it's NU it should be on the list)

these things can all ko an unboosted fraxure but none can switch in (also glalie is garbage). they are checks at best and this needs to be emphasized when you talk about them

anyway my qc check

[overview]

- we'll be following the guidelines aldaron set in this post. be brief but concise - don't over-fluff it with silly things like describing its attack stat, movepool, whatever (essentially, don't include points 3-5 and the last two).
- talk about why fraxure is even worth using at all. (hint: it's because it's the strongest/best boosting dragon in the metagame and has quite a few opportunities to set up thanks to great two-move coverage and ability to use taunt)
- you can briefly go over its flaws but explaining what's changed for it since bw1 (movepool, less offensive metagame) and why it's good is really all this section needs. don't feel pressed to add words just to make it look longer

[dd set comments]

- why is superpower slashed first? it honestly shouldn't even be slashed / talked about, especially when many of low kick's targets get hit for max damage anyway
- taunt should be slashed before substitute (and lo > eviolite) even though both are perfectly viable options. taunt is preferable because stuff like amoonguss can still break its subs and also prevents leech seed, roar, whirlwind etc. it also doesn't tack on extra recoil with LO, which you need to achieve several KOes. example: lo +2 fraxure cleanly ohkoes regirock with low kick (and has a 60% chance to do so without), while eviolite fails to ko even with rocks taken into account. eviolite is generally weaker and doesn't provide enough bulk to let it set up on anything noteworthy afaik. it helps a bit when dealing with revenge-kills but otherwise lo is the superior item
- you also failed to mention the primary usage of substitute - evading sucker punches.
- outrage is powerful even without a boost, don't knock it. it should also be the only move used unless the opp has steel-types or you need to ko something that low kick hits harder (limited to like uh lickilicky?)
- please don't just talk about the moves, give specific examples, talk about how the set performs in the metagame, etc - listing off the moves and their purpose alone is useless since presumably these people understand what DD is and that outrage is a good stab move to have.

[dd additional comments]

- no mention of adamant? it doesn't catch tauros at +1 so a spread of 56 hp / 252 atk / 200 spe lets you outrun base 100s (charizard) at +1.
- move item discussion to set comments and mention what i have said above. you should only mention potentially useful alternate items here, of which the only decent one would be yache in order to set up on ludicolo.
- uhhhhhh the last three points are entirely irrelevant to this section so strike them
- what about alternate moves? dragon claw, aqua tail? both are plausibly useful although they carry obvious negative effects / aren't as good as the listed moves, but explain that. what about swords dance? that's definitely usable, too
- teammates? spikes support is good for every sweeper but especially for fraxure, since it forces switches very frequently and every steel-type is susceptible to spikes. cacturne / garbodor would be best options here
- taken directly from my previous skeleton since i'm too lazy to re-word all of them. this is the kind of stuff you should be looking for when writing up an analysis:
- fraxure's awesome coverage and incredibly offensive nature makes it difficult to pick out partners to remove counters, since it doesn't really have any. better to use things that can take advantage of the havoc it creates
- pairs very well with something that struggles to break through rock- and steel-types, like swellow; even with jolly + evio, fraxure 2HKOes regirock at +1 and can taunt to prevent SR from coming up ever
- also works well with pkmn that struggle with tangela because it sets up all over non-hp ice; thinking stuff like torterra / golurk / kanga / sawk, even though former two share ice weaks with frax
- pkmns that resist ice are good, as are those that can deal with common revenge killers; samurott can handle ice-types and break down steels so it can spam outrage later, and the previously mentioned tort / lurk can handle rotom-s and other pokemon for scarfers idk
- zangerse
- steel killer probopass
- gothorita! traps and koes steels with hp fight / ground
- other mons that are fun to use with it
- obviously that is not a complete list of everything that works well with fraxure, but right now you have absolutely nothing and it needs to have partners mentioned lol

[cb set comments]

- the primary purpose of this is to use mold breaker and prevent sr set-up for sr-weak pokemon. it ohkoes every sturdy sr setter bar solid rock physically defensive carracosta (and armaldo / regirock)
- contrary to what you would expect it really cannot break through defensive walls in nu so much, but using cb allows it to function more as a hit-and-run pokemon rather than trying to set up and sweep
- it does also help with a few other things but in all honesty there's not that much of a reason you would be using cb fraxure over something stronger / faster like cb emboar, braviary. cb outrage does have great neutral coverage though and even if its unable to directly break through stuff like tangela / regirock it can easily clean teams given an opportunity to so do
- again don't talk about moves if you can avoid it, talk about its effectiveness in the metagame / why it's good / specific situations etc
- aqua tail is for those rare situations where you need the coverage of superpower but can't risk the -1 drops or you need to KO golurk but can't lock yourself into outrage. it also ohkoes golem.
- dual chop should also be slashed next to dragon claw, breaking subs is a good thing but missing is a bad thing

[cb additional comments]

- jolly lets you outrun all emboar and neutral samurott + ludicolo
- low kick (talk about why it's not as good on this set)
- don't talk about counters in this section, talk about teammates that help pkmn beat counters
again, examples..
- bring stuff to ohko armaldo / regi if you plan on using this to keep sr away
- sr-weak mons are obviously good to pair with this, as are those that appreciate rocks being gone (all normals, birds, etc)
- also lures and does a ton of damage to your standard physical walls, meaning it pairs really well with stuff like sawk, swellow, zangoose, etc. zangoose in particular because zang can clear out the steels for frax, and frax can spam outrage on the stuff zangoose cant directly ohko like alom, tangela, amoong, etc
- really needs spikes support to get anything done (iirc a few layers of spikes lets you 2hko tang), as well as steels removed so you can just spam outrage
- paralysis support
- trap support (gothorita / probopass)
- slow volt switches / u-turns into it help preserve it and prevent it from taking hits with mediocre defenses

[other options]

- you're missing a ton of stuff. if it's competitively plausible then it can go here
- toxic: lures in alom + tang + most defensive walls
- rivalry
- sash
- liechi / salac
- endure + reversal

[checks and counters]

- clarify that rotom-f / ludicolo / samurott / ditto cannot switch in
- non-hp ice tangela is set-up bait, clarify that it needs hp ice to be a counter
- does mawile actually beat it one on one lol, i've never seen it
- point out that it's obviously easier for offense to handle since they can often prevent it from setting up altogether, defensive teams are a different story
- most scarfers can handle it, it's rather frail
- every kind of status will kill a sweep so burning it or using things like priority twave from volbeat is good
- you can also catch it on the dd with priority encore from the above, though i don't think that's particularly worth mentioning
- absol's sucker punch
- a lot of bulky teams will have to rely on residual damage to kill it; hazards, rocky helmet, aftermath (notably skuntank w/ sucker punch and garbodor's bulk are good options)
- golbat walls it i suppose
- most reasonably fast pokemon can deal with the cb set

ok that's a lot to go through so i'm not stamping this until it's all implemented, but when it is lmk and i will stamp you

Uhhhhh, actually fraxure has no trouble with shedinja at all no matter what move its running, fraxure's ability mold breaker cancels out the effects of wonder guard, making shedinja useless.

On the Mawile vs Fraxure thing, physically defensive Intimidate Mawile can beat Fraxure that don't have Superpower as Mawile is light enough to only take 40 BP from Low Kick. Eviolite Fraxure would be too bulky for Mawile to break easily with Iron Head, however the defensive set uses Seismic Toss which beats Fraxure in 3 shots due to Fraxure's NFE HP stats that grants it only 274 HP with 4 HP Evs. In the analysis mention specifically that Mawile only beats Fraxure without Superpower and it has to have Seismic Toss and be physically defensive with Intimidate to beat it regardless.

BTW how does Shedinja counter Fraxure when it has Mold Breaker? Fraxure can just easily use its Dragon-type STAB and take it down with any trouble. ~~Ninja'd

Be sure to carry a Pokemon such as Sawk who can single handedly smash Metang and Bastiodon (since Bastiodon can phaze Fraxure out, thus neutering the DD boosts)
+1 252 Atk Fraxure Low Kick (100 BP) vs. 252 HP / 4+ Def Bastiodon: 352-416 (108.64 - 128.39%) -- guaranteed OHKO

I have no idea why Bastiodon is mentioned here. The standard spread onsite is cleanly OHKOd by +1 Eviolite Low Kick / Superpower, not to mention Life Orb variants. You really shouldn't be using Sturdy to justify it being a counter. (edit: yeah mold breaker ignores sturdy anyway, whatever lol). To be honest, I don't see the point of this sentence, Metang and Mawile are the only Steel types who want to take a hit from Fraxure, and they're not very common and pretty easy to wear down.

Bastiodon not hindering Fraxure whatsoever, but rather helping it by giving it free Dragon Dances. Since Fraxure has access to Taunt, Low Kick, and Mold Breaker it doesn't care about Bastiodon whether it's at +0 or +1 (unless it's locked into Outrage). Mention in C&C that Tangela lacking Hidden Power Ice are complete set up fodder for Eviolite DD Fraxure due to Taunt or Substitute.

Remove Life Orb from the Dragon Dance set and add it to Fraxure's AC. While Life Orb provides a lot of power, its main niche is taking advantage of its combination of bulk--which Eviolite provides more of--and power.

"Fraxure's only viable set" ~ Remove this from DD set; doesn't make sense to say this when it has another set right under it

"Substitute to allow more boosts, and most of all, evade Sucker Punch" ~when you mention this in your write-up make sure to include Pokemon that it can set up on with Substitute. Also make sure to mention that sets not using Substitute still don't have to worry about Sucker Punch all too much as its bulk with Eviolite allows it to take it. Adamant LO Absol's Sucker Punch does 61-72% while Adamant Skuntank's does 37-44%

"Taunt is also usable to set up on Amoonguss and Alomomola" -Mention that Alomomola with Scald have the potential to burn Fraxure as it is setting up. Make sure to mark this as a benefit of using Substitute over Taunt.

Remove mentions of Yache Berry in DD's AC. It only really helps it set up against Samurott and Ludicolo and otherwise it is a wasted item, with Eviolite and Life Orb being superior options. Fraxure still takes a lot from their Ice Beams and opting for this item makes it considerably more open to priority and attacks in general. Fraxure should be avoiding facing special Samurott and Ludicolo at +0 if it can.

Add Dual Chop in DD's AC as a means for Fraxure to OHKO Focus Sash Kadabra. More perks to this involve not having to lock yourself onto Outrage and making a decent check to Haunter. Fraxure can DD on Haunter's Sludge Bomb and take it down with Dual Chop the following turn. Add in that it lacks the power of Outrage and has a less than ideal 90% accuracy.

"Trappers (Gothorita, Probopass)" ~Make sure to explain what specifically these Pokemon trap and why it helps CB Fraxure.

Mention that CB Fraxure appreciates Thunder Wave support from Pokemon such as Regirock and Musharna so that it can abuse its power without being deterred by its lackluster Speed.

"Dragon Claw is acceptable on the DD set" ~remove that from Other Options as you already mentioned it in the AC.

"Sash, plus Endure and Reversal. Very gimmicky ; Salac/Liechi berry to boost speed or Attack to keep Fraxure going in the pinch." ~Remove Sash and combine Endure + Reversal with Salac and Liechi Berries.

Mention Dual Screens support (users such as Gardevoir) in AC of the DD set to set up easier. Put Choice Scarf in OO. Add this bulky subdd set in OO, 248 HP / 172 Spe / 88 Spe Careful nature, sub / dragon dance/ dragon claw / low kick. The bulky set sets up on amoonguss (sludge bomb does not break the sub) and other walls while it takes hits very well. Remove Ludicolo and Samurott from checks and counters imo since they both get OHKOd at +1 and Eviolite can tank an Ice Beam.

EDIT: oh i did my calcs against the wrong set lol nvm

Special Samurott and Ludicolo are definitely checks to Fraxure before a boost, although they do in fact lose if Fraxure manages to get up a Dragon Dance. However since both are very relevant to the metagame I think including that they are Fraxure checks when it is at +0 and not when it is at +1 is acceptable.

 • 252 SpAtk Life Orb Samurott Ice Beam vs 0 HP/0 SpDef Eviolite Fraxure: 101.1% - 118.68% (Guaranteed OHKO)
 • 252 SpAtk Life Orb Ludicolo Ice Beam vs 0 HP/0 SpDef Eviolite Fraxure: 89.38% - 105.49% (37.5% chance to OHKO)

EDIT: I noticed in Zeb's check that he mentioned to remove Superpower as a slash on the DD set. I think you should go through with doing so and instead include it in the AC because, like he said, most of Fraxure's targets are already hit just as hard by Low Kick and generally speaking using an Atk dropping move on a boosting set when you have another option that is just as good is looked down upon. In the grand scheme of things Superpower only hits Mawile harder, which is the only reason why Superpower should be added to AC rather than be completely removed.

"Gothorita can use HP Ground/Fire" ~Gothorita should not and would not ever use these moves. Mention Gothorita can trap Alomomola and Tangela since CB Fraxure is hard pressed to beat them without its Eviolite, DD, and Taunt/Sub

Snow Warning Snover recently dropped down so mention that the residual damage from Hail and the advent of Hail makes one of its best check in Rotom-F more common and more dangerous thanks to that 100% accurate Blizzard.

Mention Choice Scarf in Other Options [Implement this]

Mention that CB Fraxure appreciates Thunder Wave support from Pokemon such as Regirock and Musharna so that it can abuse its power without being deterred by its lackluster Speed. [Implement this please]

Add in what is needed and I'll return to give you a stamp

EDIT: I'm cool with Yache being OO. I'm actually a little surprised I didn't mention for it to be OO when I talked about it the first time.

yache's only use is to guarantee reliable set-up on ludicolo and samurott. eviolite fraxure is ohkoed by both ice beams, whereas yache is guaranteed to live (and it's only got like a 10% chance to be ohkoed by rott taking SR into account). it's literally only useful to act as a pseudo-lure for these pokemon, but that alone is enough to merit its mention IMO. perhaps it should be moved to OO, but i'd like it to be mentioned regardless.
