Fresh Takes V3

Welcome to the third edition of Fresh Takes! The basic premise is basically similar to the last two threads, in which Pokemon that got the short end of the competitive stick are redesigned so that they will be able to be successful in an OU environment.

How Submissions Work
Every week, I will post a sample submission slate with three random pokes and three random "takes", and your job will be to associate a take to a pokemon and change it up accordingly. You do not need to reserve one take per Pokémon, and you can use any take as much as you want, whether it be for one, two, all three, or even no Pokémon. However, only one sub is allowed per Pokémon. As for custom moves and abilities, they are only allowed if they are a clone of an existing move or ability, for instance Lightning Rod for Ice-type moves, or a Steel-type Close Combat. And when you want to give a pokemon a new move or ability, do not go ridiculously against flavor, such as Flash Fire Kartana or Spectral Thief Charizard. Also, do not give legendary signature moves and abilities to normal pokes unless you have an extremely convincing reason to do so. Also, unless I say otherwise, the maximum limit for BST on any submission is 570. Dynamax is banned, no exceptions. We will also not be taking Dexit or Movexit into consideration for this mod.

How Voting Works
Voting is basically done the same as other Pet Mods. All voters vote for their three preferred submissions, and first vote will be worth 3 points, second vote 2 points, third vote 1 point. Note that voting is based on Pokémon, not takes. Self-votes are allowed, just not in the first slot. Even if you didn't sub, you can still vote for your favorite Pokémon. Each slate will last a week before voting period begins.

"Take" is the number of the Take you choose for the Pokemon. Competitive Niche and Sample Sets are optional.

Before this mod officially starts, we will hold a vote to determine which of the mons from Gen 7 Fresh Takes should be added into Gen 8. You can vote up to your 5 submissions this time, or if you prefer to not have any previous pokemon return, just type "None" as one of your choices. Check the spreadsheet in the first post for the list of winners. The top five pokemon will get added into Gen 8.
To give you an idea, I will post my votes below:

Slowbro, Florges, None, Jirachi, Ninjask

Voting for 5 interesting Pokémon that have been dexited in standard, so they can bring their new strats and utilize them here.

Sorry for the lateness, internet went out. Anyway time for the first slate!
Slate #1: Galarian Forms!
:ss/rapidash-galar: :ss/weezing-galar: :ss/stunfisk-galar:
(no I did not steal this from OptiMons)
These new forms, while they do have some good niches, such as Weezing-Galar's great defensive typing and three great defensive abilities, Stunfisk-Galar's great defensive typing and unique ability, and Rapidash-Galar's great offensive typing, fall short compared to other OU pokemon. Hopefully though, with some tweaks, they can fit into OU and do what their original counterparts never could!
----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Take #1: Typing is important!
Type Restriction: Must keep typing the same
Ability Restriction: 3.5
Stat Restriction: Attacking stats (Atk, SpA, Speed) cannot go higher than 125
Move Limit: 2 new moves

Take #2: The No-Damage Attacker
Type Restriction: One type must remain, secondary typing must be replaced with a STAB move a pokemon learns (cannot be one of its original secondary type)
Ability Restriction: 4
Stat Restriction: Attacking stats cannot go above 75, defensive stats (HP, Def, SpD) must have a sum of at least 300
Move Restriction: 3 status moves, except those that boost stats

Take #3: Move Master
Type Restriction: Must replace one type with any random type besides Normal
Ability Restriction: 3.5
Stat Restriction: Highest offensive and defensive stat cannot be increased
Move Limit: 3 new STABs, 2 offensive moves from 60-120 BP

Glarian Rapidash (Take 1)

Ability:Tinted Lens
Stats: 75/110/70/80/80/110 [525 BST]
New Moves: Flare Blitz, Psychic Fangs
Competitive Niche: Fast Attacker with Tinted Lens to make it harder to switch into..
Rapidash-Galar @ Choice Band
Ability: Tinted Lens
EVs: 252 Atk / 4 SpD / 252 Spe
Jolly Nature
- Play Rough
- Psychic Fangs
- High Horsepower
- Flare Blitz

Rapidash-Galar @ Life Orb
Ability: Tinted Lens
EVs: 252 Atk / 4 SpD / 252 Spe
Jolly Nature
- Play Rough
- Psychic Fangs
- Swords Dance
- Agility

weezing-galar.gif

Pokemon: Galarian Weezing
Take: #1 Typing is important!
Type: Poison/Fairy
Ability: Levitate / Corrosion (Natural Cure)
Stats: 90/65/120/100/85/60 (BST: 520)
New Moves: Volt Switch, Moonlight
Competitive Niche: Weezing is now much bulkier with its improved HP and Special Defense. A slow Volt Switch allows it to pivot a teammate safely, while Moonlight gives it much needed recovery. Corrosion is an option to surprise a Steel-type such a Ferrothorn with a Toxic. Natural Cure, on the other hand, allows Weezing to absorb status whuch synergizes well with its pivoting role. It still has a whole lot of status moves in its arsenal to become an unpredictable support Pokemon.
Sample Sets:
Weezing-Galar @ Black Sludge
Ability: Levitate / Corrosion
EVs: 248 HP / 252 Def / 8 SpD
Bold Nature
IVs: 0 Atk
- Strange Steam / Sludge Bomb
- Toxic / Will-O-Wisp
- Moonlight
- Volt Switch / Toxic Spikes

rapidash-galar.gif

Pokemon: Galarian Rapidash
Take: #3 Move Master
Type: Psychic/Ground
Ability: Mold Breaker / Pastel Veil (Defiant)
Stats: 85/100/70/80/80/115 (BST: 530)
New Moves: Psychic Fangs, Sacred Sword
Competitive Niche: Defiant punishes Defog and Intimidate while Mold Breaker is also a good option to hit Levitate and Unaware users hard. Swords Dance boosts its Attack even further, allowing Rapidash to plow through teams with its good offensive typing. Sacred Sword is an option to hit Ferrothorn hard.
Sample Sets:
Rapidash-Galar @ Life Orb
Ability: Defiant / Mold Breaker
EVs: 252 Atk / 4 Def / 252 Spe
Jolly Nature
- Swords Dance / Morning Sun
- Psychic Fangs
- High Horsepower
- Wild Charge / Sacred Sword

Pokemon: Rapidash-Galar
Take: Move Master!
Type: Fairy/Fire
Ability: Pastel Veil/Flame Body/Flash Fire
Stats: 75/100/80/70/80/112 (BST: 517)
New Moves:
Blaze Kick, Flame Charge, Flare Blitz, Jump Kick, U-Turn.
Competitive Niche: With decent abilities and an unique stab combination in fairy/fire, as well as a slight BST boost, galarian rapidash is an interesting fast sweeper. It outspeeds base 110s, and its wide movepool lets it cover a wide variety of threats. However, it suffers from relatively low 75/80/80 bulk and an unimpressive base 100 attack, in addition to being vulnerable to scarf and priority users.

A life orb swords dance set can be used as an alternative to the banded set, sacrificing some immediate power for flexibility and wallbreaking potential. It can even run Flame Charge to surprise would-be offensive checks. However, this set struggles even more with coming in and setting up, and is easily worn down by hazards, recoil, and other residual damage.

Sample Sets:
Choice Band

Rapidash-Galar @ Choice Band
Ability: Flash Fire
EVs: 252 Atk / 4 Def / 252 Spe
Jolly Nature
- Play Rough
- Flare Blitz
- Drill Run
- U-Turn/Jump Kick/Wild Charge

Swords Dance
Rapidash-Galar @ Life Orb
Ability: Flash Fire
EVs: 252 Atk / 4 Def / 252 Spe
Jolly Nature
- Play Rough
- Flare Blitz
- Swords Dance
- Drill Run/Flame Charge

Pokemon: Weezing-Galar
Take: The No-Damage Attacker!
Type: Poison/Psychic (it learns psybeam)
Ability: Levitate/Neutralizing Gas/Dazzling
Stats: 90/75/120/75/90/60 (BST:510) (lowered offenses dumped into HP, +20 special defense boost)
New Moves: Healing Wish, Recover, Trick Room
Competitive Niche: Bulky wall with an unique typing and various supportive abilities. In doubles, it can serve as a capable trick room setter.
Sample Sets:

Bulky Hazard Setter

Weezing-Galar @ Black Sludge
Ability: Levitate
EVs: 252 HP/ 252 Def/ 4 SpD
Bold Nature
-Recover
-Toxic Spikes
-Defog/Taunt/Clear Smog/Haze
-Will-O-Wisp/Taunt/Clear Smog/Haze

Trick Room Support (Singles)
Weezing-Galar @ Mental Herb
Ability: Levitate
EVs: 252 HP/ 252 Def/ 4 SpD
IVs: 0 Spe
Relaxed Nature
-Trick Room
-Healing Wish/Memento
-Taunt
-Toxic

Trick Room Support (Doubles)
Weezing-Galar @ Mental Herb/Colbur Berry
Ability: Neutralizing Gas/Dazzling
EVs: 252 HP/ 252 Def/ 4 SpD
IVs: 0 Spe
Relaxed Nature
-Trick Room
-Clear Smog
-Will-O-Wisp
-Memento/Healing Wish

I figured I'd go for another previously-unseen type combination, and make galarian weezing poison/psychic! These typings cancel out each others' psychic and bug weaknesses, and Levitate takes care of the ground weakness, leaving only dark and ghost. This makes galarian weezing a natural fit in a defensive core with something like umbreon or tyranitar (depending on where in the tiers it ends up).

The added moves are all reasonably common on psychic-types, so I didn't feel weird about including them. Misty Terrain didn't really fit thematically, so I figured I should give it another interesting support ability in Dazzling: something thematically linked to both the fairy- and psychic-types.

You know who I feel bad for, Stunfisk. Stunfisk got the bare minimum put in for his form and I will not let it stand! IF GAME FREAK REFUSES TO IMPROVE STUNFISK THEN I WILL!

Pokemon: Galarian Stunfisk
Take:2 The No Damage Attacker
Type:
Steel/Ghost(It learns astonish)
Ability:Levitate
Stats:130/75/130/75/130/30(BST 570)
New Moves:
Toxic, Will-O-Wisp, Strength Sap
Competitive Niche:Behold the haunted bear trap. With those defenses how can anything stop it? This thing is a monster with surprisingly good recovery, the ability to inflict burn, paralysis, and the bad poison, and access to a fairly good defensive typing. However what it lacks are offenses and of course speed.
Sample Sets:

The Physical Wall

Stunfisk-Galar @ leftovers
Ability: Levitate
EVs: 252 HP/ 252 Def/ 4 SpD
Bold Nature
-Toxic
-Protect
-Strength Sap
-Foul Play

The Special Wall
Stunfisk-Galar @ leftovers
Ability: Levitate
EVs: 252 HP/ 4 Def/ 252 SpD
Calm Nature
-Will-O-Wisp
-Strength Sap
-Protect
-Scald/Surf

The Fuck Your Attack Stat Bucko
Stunfisk-Galar @ leftovers
Ability: Lecitate
Bold Nature
EVs: 252 HP/ 252 Def/ 4 SpD
-Will-O-Wisp
-Protect
-Strength Sap
-Snap Trap

Please put all your submissions into one post.

It means that you replace its secondary type with the type of any move in a Pokémon’s movepool, except it’s original secondary type.
Ex: Galarian Stunfisk can become Ground/Water because it learns Scald, but you can’t use Flash Cannon to keep it Ground/Steel.

Your Weezing is just 10 BST short of the required sum, I suggest putting it into Sp. Def. Also, Psychic Surge is a 4.5 ability, and the limit for this take is 4. May I suggest Misty Surge instead, since it fits the limit?
Voting starts tomorrow!

Actually, y’know what? Someone else can take over the mod. I just don’t feel like it anymore and we are clearly not gonna get more votes.
