Hey guys! Lydo360 here with my third RMT with what has arguably been my most consistent and well-performing team so far revolving around a Kyurem-B, Koko, Lucha core with a Fire Blast Mega-Gyarados as tech, crazy as it might sound. I remember before I made this team I was trying to adapt to a shifting metagame and trying different builds. Before this team, my main team was my Burn Break team, my previous RMT which you can check out in my profile. However, I realized I often had trouble with pressuring certain teambuilds thanks to the fact that two of my mons were choiced and a lack of a dedicated special wall. Beyond that, I realized how much of a threat guys like Tornadus-T posed to my team thanks to Koko being the only thing faster than it before boosting and nothing in particular having an easy time taking Hurricanes and Heat Waves. When I made this team, I wanted to build it around the Icium Z Kyurem-B set, a set I'd been wanting to use for quite a while. I was also exploring tech options for Gyarados, and found to my surprise it's access to a plethora of fantastic coverage options that no one ever seems to really care about. I did not expect the resulting team to perform quite as well as it did. This was always the team I went back to when I was trying out other builds as the most consistent one, and I figured I'd want to share with you all. Hope you enjoy.

Proof of peak:

This song I think fits the mood

Teambuilding Process

I wanted to start off with the Icium Z Kyurem-B, arguably the most popular Kyurem set that I had been wanting to use for a while. Just the standard set here.

I added Tapu Koko since it and Kyurem form an amazing offensive core, with Koko dropping absurdly powerful Thunderbolts and spamming strong Volt Switches as an effective pivot, once Kyurem clears special walls like Chansey as well as bulky grounds with its powerful Z-move and ice moves. Electric Terrain also provides an effective boost for Fusion Bolt, giving it pseudo-STAB and thus making it Kyurem's second strongest move.

Of course, with the Koko and Kyurem core I figured I might as well throw in Hawlucha and make it a triple core to keep taking advantage of the Electric Terrain and act as a late game cleaner/sweeper.

I then added AV Magearna for an effective special wall that can pivot with Volt Switch as well as punish switch-ins like Landorus-T and 1v1 other mons weak to fairy/steel such as Clefable and Latios-Mega

Gyarados-Mega was probably my most interesting choice. I needed a good mega that was bulky enough to switch in and out for my relatively fire weak team, especially given that Magearna is very weak to mons like Heatran and the Zard forms, that could also set up and hit hard. Gyarados fit all those slots and the Intimdate pre-mega ability didn't hurt either

Lando was my final addition, providing Concealed Crags/Defog support with role compression, as well as a strong Earthquake and U-turn support

The Team

Kyurem-Black @ Icium Z

Ability: Teravolt
EVs: 252 Atk / 4 SpA / 252 Spe
Naive Nature
Freeze Shock

Ice Beam

Fusion Bolt

Earth Power

Roles: Physical Wallbreaker, Offensive Pressure
Kyurem-B is the star of the show. An absurdly high 170 base Attack and very solid 120 base Special Attack allow it to nail threats from both sides. Icium Z helps it mitigate its somewhat shallow physical movepool, which includes a lack of a consistent Ice-type physical STAB move, by converting Freeze Shock, a normally 140 BP two-turn move, into a powerful 200 BP STAB Subzero Slammer, allowing it to obliterate walls like Chansey and Ferrothorn, as well as basically anything not named Heatran, Scizor-Mega, or otherwise resistant to Ice. Even then it'll do a hefty amount of damage if not outright OHKOing them, 2HKOing just about any variant of Magearna and OHKOing Greninja. Use it wisely though, as it kinda sucks to accidentally waste it on a Heatran or on a turn your opponent decides to use Protect. Keep in mind that it's sometimes okay to still use Freeze Shock after you've used your Z-move given the situation, such as against Gastrodon or Chansey if you're prepared to risk status or predict the incoming switch. While they'll always be able to switch out, as long as Heatran's gone and they don't have Protect, Freeze Shock will still hit absurdly hard. Ice Beam is there for a consistent Ice move, still dealing hard damage to Ice weak targets and OHKOing the quadruply Ice weak mons that are staples in OU, such as Zygarde, Landorus-T, and Garchomp. Fusion Bolt hits consistently hard as well, especially with Electric Terrain support from Tapu Koko, 2HKOing any variant of Magearna and hammering anything that doesn't resist it. Careful spamming it against stall builds however, as it only has 8 PP. Earth Power rounds out the coverage, OHKOing offensive variants of Magnezone and Heatran and 2HKOing any other variant, but feel free to run HP Fire instead to surprise Ferrothorn and Mega-Scizor. Kyurem can additionally help to clear out threats like Ferrothorn and other Ground-types so Tapu Koko can clean. Naive is run to speed tie with non-Scarf Lele as well as other base 95s. Relevant calcs are shown below.

252 Atk Teravolt Kyurem-Black Subzero Slammer (200 BP) vs. 244 HP / 252+ Def Eviolite Chansey: 529-624 (75.3 - 88.8%) -- 12.5% chance to OHKO after Stealth Rock
252 Atk Teravolt Kyurem-Black Subzero Slammer (200 BP) vs. 252 HP / 48 Def Ferrothorn: 304-358 (86.3 - 101.7%) -- 50% chance to OHKO after Stealth Rock and Leftovers recovery
252 Atk Teravolt Kyurem-Black Fusion Bolt vs. 248 HP / 0 Def Magearna in Electric Terrain: 178-210 (49 - 57.8%) -- guaranteed 2HKO after Stealth Rock
252 Atk Teravolt Kyurem-Black Fusion Bolt vs. 244 HP / 252+ Def Eviolite Chansey in Electric Terrain: 266-313 (37.8 - 44.5%) -- 3.9% chance to 2HKO after Stealth Rock
4 SpA Teravolt Kyurem-Black Ice Beam vs. 248 HP / 56 SpD Assault Vest Tapu Bulu: 152-180 (44.3 - 52.4%) -- 74.6% chance to 2HKO after Stealth Rock and Grassy Terrain recovery

Tapu Koko @ Choice Specs

Ability: Electric Surge
EVs: 252 SpA / 4 SpD / 252 Spe
Timid Nature
IVs: 0 Atk
Volt Switch

Thunderbolt

Hidden Power [Ice]/[Fire]

Dazzling Gleam

Roles: Special Wallbreaker, Strong/Fast Pivot, Mid/Late Game Cleaner
Tapu Koko forms a beautiful core with most variants of Kyurem-B. I'm running the old Specs set. It's fallen out of popularity as of recent in favor of utility variants, but I've always quite like this set. As effective as they are, I always kinda felt that the utility sets were such a waste of power when you can drop ridiculously strong Thunderbolts and spam pivot moves that 2HKO Heatran. Once Kyurem clears out the Ground types with its Ice moves, Tapu Koko is free to spam Volt Switch without consequence. Its strong special hits also allow it to beat down and provide chip against physical walls, often forcing out mons like Skarmory, Tornadus, Greninja pre-Battle Bond, and basically anything that doesn't wall our outspeed it. Dazzling Gleam 2HKOs pretty much every Landorus-T as well as OHKOing basically everything weak to it, namely guys like Garchomp and offensive Zygarde. HP Ice rounds it out by OHKOing Landorus and Gliscor. Feel free to run HP Fire for Excadrill and Ferrothorn though.

Hawlucha @ Electric Seed

Ability: Unburden
EVs: 252 Atk / 4 SpD / 252 Spe
Adamant Nature
High Jump Kick

Acrobatics

Swords Dance

Roost

Roles: Physical Wallbreaker, Setup Sweeper, Late Game Cleaner
The Unburden Hawlucha rounds out the Koko-based core, acting as an amazing late game cleaner once Koko and Kyurem have cleared out roadblocks like Skarmory and Clefable, being able to take them both down with powerful hits. After a Swords Dance, Hawlucha can pretty much OHKO or 2HKO almost every relevant threat in OU with its powerful STAB moves with almost perfect coverage, even dedicated walls like Chansey, Toxapex, and Clefable, but keep in mind that the latter two can tank out one and either cripple it with a burn, get rid of its boosts, or flat out beat it with Moonblast. Roost is used to give it an easier time setting up against mons like Tapu Bulu and defensive Lando-T. The Electric Seed allows it to activate Unburden as well as give it a +1 defense boost, which is actually quite helpful against certain attacks. Also important to note that if Koko goes down, it's often still best to bring in Hawlucha, because even though it looses the speed boost when it swaps out, it's still best to make sure Acrobatics gets the item loss boost throughout the rest of the match. Adamant is chosen for the extra power, and the 252/4/252 spread is used to outspeed the more defensively invested Luchas. Benchmark calcs are shown below.

252+ Atk Swampert-Mega Waterfall vs. +1 0 HP / 0 Def Electric Seed Hawlucha in Rain: 204-240 (68.6 - 80.8%) -- guaranteed 2HKO
+2 252+ Atk Hawlucha High Jump Kick vs. 0 HP / 0 Def Tapu Koko: 210-248 (74.7 - 88.2%) -- 6.3% chance to OHKO after Stealth Rock
+2 252+ Atk Hawlucha Acrobatics (110 BP) vs. 252 HP / 252+ Def Clefable: 273-322 (69.2 - 81.7%) -- guaranteed 2HKO after Leftovers recovery
+4 252+ Atk Hawlucha Acrobatics (110 BP) vs. 252 HP / 240+ Def Landorus-Therian: 364-429 (95.2 - 112.3%) -- guaranteed OHKO after Stealth Rock and Leftovers recovery

Magearna @ Assault Vest

Ability: Soul-Heart
EVs: 252 HP / 8 SpA / 248 SpD
Calm Nature
IVs: 0 Atk
Fleur Cannon

Flash Cannon

Ice Beam

Volt Switch

Roles: Specially Defensive Tank, Slow Pivot
Magearna is the resident special wall of the team, being able to effectively tank out any Non-Groundium Z Greninja attack as well as basically any special move that isn't a STAB Fire move. It can even effectively tank out most special coverage moves too, such as Earth Power from Mega-Diancie and literally any Hidden Power. Fleur Cannon is Magearna's strongest move and hits anything that doesn't resist extremely hard, OHKOing offensive Pokemon weak to it such as Greninja, Hawlucha, and Mega-Latios. Unfortunately, it drops Sp. Atk by two stages after use, so it can't be spammed. Flash Cannon is a spammable STAB move that hits Steel-weak Pokemon like Kyurem and Clefable extremely hard. Ice Beam one-shots Landorous-T and Gliscor, as well as most other quadruply weak threats, without lowering Magearna's Sp. Atk. It can also 1v1 both of the former at full health. Volt Switch allows it to pivot and is boosted by Electric Terrain. An interesting tech option suggested by forums user Twilight replaces Ice Beam with Energy Ball, which really eases the matchup vs Gastrodon.

252 SpA Diancie-Mega Earth Power vs. 248 HP / 252+ SpD Assault Vest Magearna: 102-120 (28 - 33%) -- guaranteed 4HKO
252 SpA Choice Specs Greninja-Ash Hydro Pump vs. 248 HP / 252+ SpD Assault Vest Magearna: 133-157 (36.6 - 43.2%) -- guaranteed 3HKO
4 SpA Heatran Magma Storm vs. 248 HP / 252+ SpD Assault Vest Magearna: 120-144 (33 - 39.6%) -- guaranteed 3HKO after trapping damage
4 SpA Teravolt Kyurem-Black Earth Power vs. 248 HP / 252+ SpD Assault Vest Magearna: 68-80 (18.7 - 22%) -- possible 5HKO
0 Atk Landorus-Therian Earthquake vs. 248 HP / 0 Def Magearna: 264-312 (72.7 - 85.9%) -- guaranteed 2HKO

Gyarados-Mega @ Gyaradosite

Ability: Mold Breaker
EVs: 252 Atk / 4 SpD / 252 Spe
Jolly Nature
Dragon Dance

Waterfall

Crunch

Fire Blast

Roles: Physical Wallbreaker, Offensive Pressure, Setup Sweeper, Pseudo-Tank, Late Game Cleaner
This is probably the most unique set on the team. One of my favorite Kanto Pokemon, Gyarados is an offensive powerhouse with some pretty amazing bulk too. The set, for the most part, is standard. Offensive Dragon Dance with 2 STAB moves. Mold Breaker lets it set up on Unaware users such as Quagsire and Clefable, and alllows it to ignore abilities ike Water Absorb and Sturdy. The last moveslot is where it gets interesting, however, and is one of the moves thaat allowed this team to get as far as it has. Normally, it's reserved for either Earthquake or Taunt. I decided to go with Fire Blast. Fire Blast is Frostbite's team signature. Something that struck me as odd is why all of Gyarados's amazing tech coverage options are ignored. I was surprised it even got Fire Blast in the first place, and more surprised that no one's ever thought of using it. This move always OHKOs all forms of Kartana, something no other physical move of Gyarados's can boast, even at +2, 2HKOs all variants of Mega-Scizor, and 2HKOs Physically Defensive Ferrothorn after Stealth Rock. Jolly is run over Naive as it gets no benchmarks against all of Fire Blast's targets, except always 2HKOing Specially Defensive Ferrothorn after Masquerading Minerals, which isn't really worth the extra bulk trade-off that allows it to effectively tank Blacephalon and Greninja-Ash, which are otherwise more annoying for this team to handle. Relevant calcs are shown below.

0- SpA Mold Breaker Gyarados-Mega Fire Blast vs. 4 HP / 0 SpD Kartana: 508-600 (195.3 - 230.7%) -- guaranteed OHKO
0- SpA Mold Breaker Gyarados-Mega Fire Blast vs. 248 HP / 8 SpD Skarmory: 142-168 (42.6 - 50.4%) -- 94.5% chance to 2HKO after Stealth Rock
0 SpA Mold Breaker Gyarados-Mega Fire Blast vs. 248 HP / 8 SpD Skarmory: 158-186 (47.4 - 55.8%) -- 75% chance to 2HKO
0- SpA Mold Breaker Gyarados-Mega Fire Blast vs. 248 HP / 16 SpD Scizor-Mega: 208-248 (60.6 - 72.3%) -- guaranteed 2HKO after Stealth Rock
0- SpA Mold Breaker Gyarados-Mega Fire Blast vs. 252 HP / 208+ SpD Ferrothorn: 144-172 (40.9 - 48.8%) -- guaranteed 3HKO after Stealth Rock and Leftovers recovery
0 SpA Mold Breaker Gyarados-Mega Fire Blast vs. 252 HP / 208+ SpD Ferrothorn: 160-192 (45.4 - 54.5%) -- 55.9% chance to 2HKO after Stealth Rock and Leftovers recovery

Landorus-Therian @ Rocky Helmet

Ability: Intimidate
EVs: 236 HP / 240 Def / 32 Spe
Impish Nature
Stealth Rock

Earthquake

Defog

U-turn

Roles: Ground/Electric Immunity, Physical Tank, Physical Sweeper Check, Sneaky Pebble Setter, Entry Hazard Eliminator, Offensive Pressure, Slow Bulky Pivot
And finally we have the king of role compression, Landorus-T. Not much to be said here other than that I chose to run Defog over HP Ice to clear out entry hazards that would be quite annoying to this team otherwise, such as Screens, webs, Spikes, T-Spikes, and Sneaky Pebbles. Lando's bulk and immunity to the majority of them allows it to be an effective remover, as well as setter itself. U-turn forms a Volt-Turn dynamic with Mag and Koko and Intimidate is helpful to neuter physical attackers.

Threatlist
None of these guys necessarily dismantle this team bit for bit but they are rather annoying to deal with sometimes

This guy's sometimes annoying to switch into because Gyara's the only resist, but the team can handle and pressure it pretty well with its attacks. Protect variants are annoying when paired with Ground-Types because Koko can't spam Volt Switch as easily. Bluffing Scarf early game with Lando-T can help with this.

This thing is just kind of annoying. Kyurem takes it down but try to keep some chip on it so Subzero Slammer is a confirmed KO. Careful when it's on a stall team however because you have to watch out for Heatran switches

Magearna's always the safest switch and both it, Kyurem, and Koko can do a number on it. However, as long as it's there, it's an obstacle for Hawlucha's cleaning.

While this thing is easily handled by Gyara, Lucha, and Kyurem, it's often not safe to swap into thanks to the potential of a Scald burn. Immunity to Volt Switch means Magearna and Koko are not only useless against it, but they can't swap out either.

Conclusion
So that's it for now. Hope you all enjoyed this RMT. As always, feedback is always appreciated, and feel free to make your own modifications when you use this team in whatever way you see fit. Have fun :)

Hey really nice team and gratz on the peak it's definitely a team I would enjoy using myself. I don't have many suggestions but I'll give a few that you may have tested out already. Sorry in advance for the formatting I'm currently on my phone and ofc these suggestions are optional.

1. My first suggestion is running Energy Ball over ice Beam on your magearna to help you better take on gastrodon as well as mega swampert and rotom wash. I mainly based this off how troublesome gastrodon can be for you to switch into. This makes your magearna less deadweight vs it and being able to 1vs1 it opens the door for gyarados to spam waterfall. Ofc the trade off is the ability to OHKO lando so unless the combo of kyurem + koko isn't enough ice beam is all round better and consistent.

2. My second optional change is running substitute over earth power on kyurem. It can allow you to fire off freeze shocks after you may have blown your Icium Z. This just helps pressure Clefable and Chansey more, as well as giving you the advantage of when to blow your Z-Move e.g. on a scout or a protect you sub, but ofc you do lose coverage vs heatran and rotom wash. As heatran is already problematic to switch into i understand this change may not be as appealing but its a thought.

These are the only suggestions I can currently think of, do let me know what you think or if you have thought of it whilst team building. Again gratz on the peak and I look forward to seeing the future teams you post

Thanks so much for the tips :)) I've always run Ice beam to pressure the 4x weak staples of OU but I never thought of running Energy Ball actually. This is something I might look to try as gastrodon is extremely annoying. I also considered running sub too, but I decided against it because hazards are already gonna be chipping away at its health nonstop and Earth Power has always been extremely helpful coverage for the most part.
