Introduction
Hello, my name is GhenghisCon i've been around the block for awhile and have been battling 4th gen competitively since 2007. It is sad to see it go because I'm still so attached to the 4th gen metagame and now have been witnessing its gradual collapse before my eyes. Pains me to know that this is the very last team I will be building. I just want some input on it because I want my last team to be my most fun to use and also best I've ever built. I am set on hail because I feel like i have never experimented with a hail team before. I call this RMT Frozen in Time because it is a hail team and my nostalgia for 4th gen will forever be frozen in time.

Team Building

The Poke I wanted to build my hail team around is none other than Weavile. Swords Dance Weavile to be exact.

After deciding on this Poke as my late game sweeper in Swords Dance Weavile, I knew I would need some vital walls to accompany him. First let's add a nice strong Fighting resistor, with great defense, and a reliable recovery move. I chose Gliscor for this role.

Now let's see, who would do a solid job backing up Gliscor? Well definitely Bulky waters always do a nice job backing him up and I don't have a rapid spinner on the team yet. So let's go for one of my favorite water type pokes who does a great job in the hail: Starmie.

After deciding on Starmie, I thought of a Poke that would be good and also has a reliable recovery move. Clefable does work in the hail because she gets wish, protect, magic guard and with those can stall the hell out of people. Being able to pass wishes to pokemon and clear statuses is beneficial to my team so I had to include Clefable.

I was close to just including Froslass at this point because she would be good for taking Fighting moves aimed at Clefable and be a good spin blocker. Having a spin blocker and another user of entry hazards would be nice but also it would be great to have another physical wall that could take both fire and fighting attacks. Besides Starmie, I don't really have a Poke who can take fire moves and Froslass wouldn't be able to take Fire attacks well. I decided on a physically defensive Charizard to fit this role.

For my lead it doesn't require much explanation. I wanna get my hail up ASAP so obviously Abomasnow is gonna be my main man for this.

Frozen in Time: Hail Team

Breakdown

460.png

Abomasnow (M) @Leftovers
Ability: Snow Warning
EVs: 252 HP / 4 Def / 252 SpDef
Sassy Nature (+SpDef, -Spe)
- Leech Seed
- Wood Hammer
- Protect
- Toxic

This set is great on Abomasnow. I thought that I would absolutely need him to carry Blizzard, but Toxic works better on him in my opinion. He has leech seed and hail and protect to whittle down opponents' HP and then throw in Toxic and he's an epic staller. His sole job is to set up hail and if he is faced with an unfavorable match up then I just switch him into someone else.

006.png

Charizard (M) @Leftovers
Ability: Blaze
EVs: 220 HP / 252 Def / 36 Sp Atk
Bold Nature (+Def, -Atk)
- Will-O-Wisp
- Roost
- Air Slash
- Focus Blast

Overview: Not every day that you see a Defensive Charizard with Will-O-Wisp. From what i've tested this set is actually pretty good though. Switch into a steel type or something and they will switch out fearing a special fire move. They might go into T-Tar who eats a will-o-wisp and then has a nerfed physical attack. i can take down T-Tar then by clicking Focus blast and hoping it hits. Or the opponent might switch into Gyara to try and set up Dragon Dances not knowing I carry the Will-O-Wisp.
EVs: 220HP is desirable because it is a "lefties" number which means it gets his total HP to a number divisible by 16. however, idk if this will get him to an odd number so i might have to change his HP. Max attack allows it to take many physical attacks aimed at it. I wanted him to have some offensive power so i put the remaining EVs into his Sp. Atk.

121.png

Starmie @Leftovers
Ability: Natural Cure
EVs: 252 HP / 4 SpDef / 252 Spe
Timid Nature (+Spe, -Atk)
- Rapid Spin
- Recover
- Surf
- Thunderbolt

Overview: Nothing fancy at all about this Starmie. I know that Starmie is a great Pokemon to have on a hail team because it carries rapid spin and rocks, t-spikes, and spikes are no fun to have around... especially rocks.

036.png

Clefable (M) @Leftovers
Ability: Magic Guard
EVs: 252 HP / 152 Def / 102 SpDef / 4 Spe
Calm Nature (+SpDef, -Atk)
- Wish
- Protect
- Fire Blast
- Heal Bell
Overview: Having a Wish passer like Clefable is a huge asset to the team. It serves so many functions. It can stall with wish and protect, it can remove status from other teammates. Finally, it can take on Skarm and other steel pokes via Fire Blast.

Gliscor_sprite.png

Gliscor (M) @Leftovers
Ability: Hyper Cutter
EVs: 252 HP / 184 Def / 76 Spe
Impish Nature (+Def, -SpAtk)
- Roost
- Knock off
- Earthquake
- Stealth rock
Overview: I wanted a Pokemon with Knock off because removing Leftovers from the opponent makes stalling go by just that much quicker. Knock off helped me a lot in test battles i have had. To be honest though, this Gliscor could use Taunt and I've considered replacing one of his moves with Taunt but I just don't know which move to pick.

Spr_4p_461_m.png

Weavile(M) @Expert Belt
Ability: Pressure
EVs: 32 HP / 252 Atk / 224 Spe
Jolly Nature (+Spe, -SpAtk)
- Swords Dance
- Low Kick
- Ice Shard
- Night Slash

Ahh, the star of the show. Back in 2007 Weavile was almost a staple to every single team. If you didn't have him somebody would wreck you with Garchomp, or Salamence, or Latias. Now he has become washed up and i want him to be able to relive his former glory on this team. I wanted Expert Belt because if I needed to use him in the beginning of the game I could bluff a Choice Band and then later in the game set up Swords Dance.

Observations/Conclusion/Final Remarks

This team could definitely use a little work for sure. From some test battles there have been a few holes. I am not that resistant to Rock and feel like I should have a guy who resists rock type. Also, it has some problems with Tentacruel because there isn't a good Poke on my team to take it down. It has Liquid Ooze so Abomasnow can't stall it, it can kill Gliscor, etc. If I could change one Pokemon it might be Charizard. Both Gliscor and Clefable might need a revamping on their movesets. Anyways I really hope people post feedback to this because I spent a good amount of time on this post. Please be honest and give valuable feedback about what I should change before I use this team.

Thank you guys. And if you want to battle 4th gen please contact me because I'm going to really miss it and hope I can battle as many people with this team as I can.

Well you asked the whole chat to post so...

How exactly do you deal with dragons?
Despite the fact that this is a hail team, you have one ice-type move, on your frailest pokemon. And it's ice shard, which means that you can't even ko 2x weak dragons. At least give your aboma Ice Shard too.

Edit: Also, how do you take down fire-types? Volca crushes you bad and so do sun teams/manitan/victini

I love the creativity! Weavile won't be able to survive to use swords dance, might wanna replace that move. But why charisard? It's Nu and not even that good. 5/6 or your team has leftovers life orb?

Charizard has been really solid actually believe it or not. i've been testing this team on Showdown and he is a GREAT T-Tar counter tbh. You think i should maybe give Sash to Weavile instead of E-belt?

On for this hail set, i think you should switch Recover for Blizzard, well this is a hail team right? Blizzard gets boosted to PERFECT accuracy, and Starmie could easilly abuse it in hail very well. Plus Thunderbolt and Blizzard fit really well BECAUSE of the BoltBeam combo. Its not really Starmie without the boltbeam combo, otherwise, salamence lolz starmie.

Here is a set i would recommend.
121.gif

Starmie
Timid (EVs: 252 Spe/252 SpAtk/ 4Sp Def)
Ability=Natural Cure @life orb/leftovers

-Blizzard
-Surf/Hydro Pump
-Thunderbolt
-Rapid Spin

I mean, who cares about recovery, Starmie is too frail to use it anyways. Plus Starmie has better opportunities doing some damage other than recovering its health.

For your weavile, i recommend giving a Life Orb instead of a Expert Belt, because Life Orb has more reliability, and does more damage. Although the recoil sucks, it does ALOT more when hitting something neutral.

First of all, why are you using Clefable instead of Blissey or Chansey? I mean they are 100 times better than that Wannabe Fairy. Blissey can do all that stuff, plus it works great on hail. Clefable has a decent bulk unlike Blissey, which possesses alot of HP and has more reliablility. Here is a set that i would reccomend.

242.gif
Blissey
Ability=Natural Cure @leftovers
Calm (EVs: 252 DEF/252 SpDef/4 Spe)

-Aromatherapy/Stealth Rocks
-Softboiled
-Seismic Toss/Flamethrower
-Toxic/Thunder Wave

Seriously, Blissey actually packs a punch. She can do exactly all this, and plus her bulk is SUPER AMAZING. I mean, Focus Blast doesnt budge blissey unlike Clefable which sightly brings it to half HP.

Next, why use a Gliscor without Toxic Heal? I mean, Toxic Heal Gliscor is an ass to deal with plus he is a very good asset to hail teams. Yea knock off is a cool move, but seriously, we all know Gliscor has better options. So i recommend this set for Gliscor.

gliscor.gif

Gliscor
Impish (EVs: 252 HP/184 Def/72 Spe)
Abilities: Poison Heal @Toxic Orb

-Earthquake
-Subsitute
-Protect
-Toxic

Now this set can be an ass to everyone. Now Blissey does the job of setting rocks, while Gliscor can simply stall the hell out of everyone. Substitute grants full protection, plus the Toxic Heal can be annoying to people lol. Protect is for instant activation for posion, plus getting a free heal in the hail unlike lefties recovery, which is 1/16 of your health while Toxic Heal is 1/8 of your health. Gliscor also has a neat typing, in which he is resisted by fighting attacks, which you need because, without him, fighting types will ruin your whole team. Toxic is just a stall move, which Gliscor fits perfectly for this set.

Well this is all your team is missing. Hope this helps :)

Silly hat -.- Evolite only works for NFE pokemon

And Life Orbs suck for walls because they will lose their recovery and their reliability.

Charizard has been really solid actually believe it or not. i've been testing this team on Showdown and he is a GREAT T-Tar counter tbh.
wat.
Charizard is always OHKOed by stone edge and usually OHKOed by crunch after stealth rock.
And Btw, Blissey and especially chansey always outclass your Clefable in that role, but if you're using her for the sake of novelty then there's nothing wrong with it.

Hey,

This is a decent team but I think with some changes you'll be able to succeed even more. First off - your team lacks a Scarfer which means you'll often times be losing to Pokemon as soon as they get to +1 Speed and then can outspeed your entire party with fast KOs (even worse considering your Stealth Rock weakness). This is why I suggest Choice Scarf Abomasnow. CS Abomasnow can build up some great speed to abuse his 100% accurate Blizzard which does a surprisingly large amount of damage to a plethora of Pokemon in OU.

Next up I think you should definitely change Charizard. He fails to make an impact large enough to be worth having on even Sun teams - let alone Hail teams which struggle with the amount of support members that they need. I suggest that you swap out Charizard for an Offensive Pivot Landorus-Therian, who can also spam Earthquakes in the direction of Ninetales and Tyranitar while still being able to defend on the physical side.

Your Starmie set looks fairly good but I'd consider replacing Surf with Scald for the fantastic 30% chance to burn which can definitely help support the Defensive set as well as I'd definitely use Psyshock over Thunderbolt as a secondary STAB to help you hit Pokemon such as Blissey. Currently Thunderbolt can't accomplish much considering you have such little SAtk investment.

Clefable is a rather odd option that I rarely see in OU because its role is typically outdone. Blissey and Chansey both possess better defensive stats with equivalent movepools if you were looking to take a more defensive path. However, Pokemon such as Reuniclus can take on a bulky Magic Guard/CM road if you wanted to stack up more on Fighting-resists. I'd use the suggested Smogon sets for either.

For your Gliscor I'd immediately change his ability to Poison Heal and make him hold a Toxic Orb. Poison Heal heals double the amount that leftovers does and allows Gliscor to be a status absorber for your team. The EV/nature is fine but I'd also suggest you to try a moveset of Earthquake / Taunt / Protect / Toxic seeing as how Lando-T can now take the role as Stealth Rocker. Protect allows you to not only activate your Toxic Orb but also stall for an extra turn of healing and scout opponent's moves. Taunt prevents Gliscor from being set-up fodder and allows him to annoy Stall teams quite a lot and finally Earthquake is a nice STAB to have with 100 base power that hurts many Fire types that threaten your team and that works well with Toxic.

Abomasnow (M) @ Choice Scarf
Ability: Snow Warning
EVs: 16 Atk / 252SAtk / 240 Spe
Hasty Nature
- Blizzard
- Hidden Power [Fire]
- Wood Hammer / Grass Knot
- Earthquake

Landorus-Therian (M) @ Leftovers
Ability: Intimidate
EVs: 200 HP / 64 Atk / 244 Def
Adamant Nature
- Earthquake
- Stone Edge
- U-turn
- Stealth Rock

Starmie @ Leftovers
Ability: Natural Cure
EVs: 252 HP / 4 SAtk / 252 Spe
Timid Nature (+Spe, -Atk)
- Rapid Spin
- Recover
- Scald
- Psyshock

Gliscor (M) @ Toxic Orb
Ability: Poison Heal
EVs: 252 HP / 184 Def / 76 Spe
Impish Nature (+Def, -SpAtk)
- Earthquake
- Toxic
- Taunt
- Protect

Good luck with your team!

How is Charizard a counter to Tyranitar at all?

Guys, this is clearly a 4th gen team... Gliscor doesn't have Poison heal in 4th gen and Thundurus/Landorus/Tornadus didn't even exist back then... pay attention to details

If that what the user wanted it to be, then this team is in the wrong section. It should be in the 4th gen section not the 5th gen.
