Pokémon Furfrou

Furfrou has an overpowered ability but not enough sheer stats to actually use it.
In a world where Toxic and Special Attackers exist, Furfrou will have no place in OU or possibly even UU.

Hmm... Rampardos would be bad news bears for Furfrou as well, having Mold Breaker and a base 165 Atk. Even without a STAB fighting type move, it would still deal some heavy damage, probably a 2HKO. (btw, I don't actually do the math. I just guesstimate based on past experience with pokes.) It would almost definitely OHKO it with Head Smash, though.

Even some physical walls are to stay clear of Rampardos. Base 165 Attack would leave a dent in a lot of things. Doubt Furfrou would live to tell the story of how it took a Head Smash to the face.

I highly doubt even a Furfrou with 252 Def EV's, a Def boosting nature, and two cotton guards would survive Head Smash from Rampardos.

With two Cotton Guards, it might be possible. And I just remembered Rampardos can learn Hammer Arm. Though I don't know if Hammer Arm is used in competitive movesets, since I have yet to see a single Rampardos competitively.

No real point in speculating:
252+ Atk Mold Breaker Rampardos Head Smash vs. +6 252 HP / 252+ Def Furfrou: 79-94 (22.3 - 26.5%) -- possible 5HKO after Leftovers recovery

Granted, Rampardos is practically never used cause of its piss-poor defenses, so that's a moot point. Even with +6 Defenses, something like Gliscor could easily come in, wall Furfrou, and proceed to stall it out (unless Furfrou is really stally with Cotton Guard and Substitute). Or, you know, we could just use special sweepers, or fighting types. Still, Furfrou could run a ridiculous stalling set, which would be great since it isn't impotent Special Defensively, but Gliscor can really stall well when you set up (without team support), yet Furfrou is gonna need good team support to take out key threats before it can plant itself down.

Holy Shnizzle. How is ANYTHING able to take up to 6 Head Smashs?! Ridiculous. Simply Ridiculous.

By resisting it? lol

252+ Atk Rampardos Head Smash vs. 0 HP / 0 Def Cobalion: 64-76 (19.81 - 23.52%) -- possible 6HKO
252+ Atk Rampardos Head Smash vs. 252 HP / 252+ Def Cobalion: 48-57 (12.43 - 14.76%) -- possibly the worst move ever

I'm talking about the sheer power of a 150 bp STAB move coming from a base 165 Atk. Not a powerful legendary with high defence and a good type matchup.

Because that is one fine as hell fur coat.

I actually really like Furfrou as a concept. No reliable recovery, sadly, but it still might work as a fantastic wall in lower tiers.

With +6 defense? Freaking Sunkern could tank Head Smash with +6 def boosts.

If Furfrou got Slack Off or something it could have made a great physical wall in the lower tiers, but all it has is Rest (which in fairness does get rid of Toxic).

Pretty unfortunate. With all the insane offensive threats introduced this gen it would've been nice to get an ability like Fur Coat one something with a better movepool and BST.

How about this set ?

Nature: Impish
Ability: Furcoat
EVs: 252, HP, 252 DEF, 4 Attack
Item: Chesto Berry

Rest
Cotton Guard
Toxic
Return

If only Furfrou could learn Encore. Then you could go like so.
Rest
Cotton Guard
Toxic
Encore
Cotton up, poison them, and sleep. If they use a non attacking move, Encore, then Rest. Simply stall till death by poison.

I like the ragequit Furfrou idea though.
44 Def 212 Spdef 252 HP
Cotton Guard
Twave
Headbutt
U-turn
And Kings rock as the item.
I think I'm gonna try this one out. It's just a slight modification to someone elses idea.

this is his best set I have found, and even then it's not that great but it's aight.

rest
roar
thunder wave
headbutt

chesto berry for item

you can get rid of chesto and rest and put in toxic/u-turn if you have a cleric to pass wishes/heal status.

Use Return > Headbutt and Sleep Talk over Thunder Wave, and tell me how it works.

I think it's funny how "NoStatusPlz" is using T-Wave on his Furfrou! XD if you go for max speed, you could use the roar/Twave combo to spread around as much status as possible, which would make him a pretty great support. Headbutt w/ Kings Rock and paralyzation would be extremely annoying. Plus Rest, it could be very useful in lower tiers. I like the sound of this set!

you actually want zero EVs in speed since you outspeed everything paralyzed anyway. Max DEF furfrou was only taking about 17% from a choice band bullet punch, not bad.

What about a very tanky core revolving around Furfrou and another pokemon specializing in high special defense... and perhaps wish?

Pokemon: Furfrou
Nature: Impish
Ability: Furcoat
EVs: 252 HP, 252 DEF, 4 Attack
Item: Rocky Helm
Moves:
Cotton Guard
Thunder Wave
Return
Suckerpunch/Toxic

Pokemon: Florges
Nature: Calm
Ability: Flower Veil
EVs: 252 HP, 252 SPDEF, 4 SPATK
Item: Leftovers
Moves:
Aromatherapy
Misty Terrain
Moonblast
Wish

With this combination, Furfrou can get the recovery it needs and have switches if it needs to get out of a Special Attacker. It could carry Toxic AND Thunderwave in the case of a steel type so that it could so something...but normally in that case you would need to swap out of these two mons altogether for a third pokemon that could deal with steels (another bulky offense?)

cotton guard is a waste of a turn/slot unless you are baton passing which he cannot. They are switching to a special attacker immediately so it's better to have some sort of utility like roar.

Maybe swap Cotton Guard for U-turn then, that way you can deal damage as you switch? Also, why does nobody think Retaliate is a good idea? It has decent bp, STAB, and double bp if an ally fainted last turn. Only having 5 PP can be partly solved with a couple PP Ups.
