Heya! So following up on our survey from a few days ago, the UU council has decided to quickban Galarian Moltres.
It's probably not a surprise to a ton of you given how high Galarian Moltres's survey score was. 3.83 is /really/ high, higher than Ceruledge by a decent margin and that was a stomp to say the least; it's clear this was an exceptionally polarising Pokemon. To give you an idea on some of the extremes - 7 people gave Galarian Moltres a score of "1", indicating that they think it is entirely balanced, while a whopping 27 gave it a score of "5".
Galarian Moltres is not a particularly complex Pokemon by any means. It clicks Agility, it clicks Nasty Plot, and then it attempts to KO everything in one hit or flinch the things that live with Fiery Wrath. Its ability Berserk and excellent natural bulk play into this by punishing you for attacking it directly, resulting in the best method of response to Galarian Moltres being a passive form of play that gives it multiple setup opportunities and all but guarantees that you're losing a few Pokemon to it unless you have one of its few solid answers like Tinkaton or Tyranitar. Its Tera Type could easily be switched up to mess with various forms of counterplay, with Tera Steel letting it dodge Toxic from Mandibuzz and giving it the upper hand on Tinkaton, while Tera Fairy could get through Specially Defensive Garchomp and Tyranitar, or just simply busting through everything with +3 Tera Dark Fiery Wrath and simply ignoring resistances to begin with.
Given its hugely polarising nature and its the immense support we had, the UU council felt that a quickban on Galarian Moltres was the best way forward so that we could focus on more pressing matters that require more significant community input.
