Gaming nostalgia

I was just wondering if anyone here still digs up the ol' dinosaurs and enjoys some old time gaming. The other day i dug my old NES out of the closet, and y'know if the nes was anything its was well built machine. it spent over 12 years in an old dusty closet resting under mountains of old clothes, the toys i used to play with as a kid, and all the other crap i've been holding onto for no apparent reason. But after a mere 30 seconds of cleaning i put in the old super mario brothers 3 cart in and instantly its on and ready to play. Christ, my Xbox360 burned up and became good for nothing but setting drinks on after a year of medium use but this old hunk of primitive plastic sits in a dirty closet, gets full of cobwebs and the dust on it was so settled into it it seemed to have bonded permanently to its frame forming a second skin. Yet i press that old button and presto! im ready to put my plumber's foot into king koopa's ass. But first it was time for revenge....Mike tyson was going down.

I spent hours meeting my old freinds glass joe and great tiger, and bald bull had to show his face. After ruining piston honda's shit for the second time, I knew my time to shine was near. sopa popinski? feh. super macho man? oh please. finally i face The ugly bastard one on one.... AND HE STILL FUCKING BEAT ME!!!! ARRRRGH!!! I ripped out the cables, threw the old dinosaur back into the closet and decided that nostalgia isn't all its cracked up to be.

Hahaa i enjoyed reading your thread. But, you weren't hardcore enough for Mike.

The last time i took the dust off my NES was like a year ago, to play Zelda II: adventure of link again, i just like that game a lot, and i still have a hard time raping thunderbird.

I still whip it out to play Battletoads and Contra, awaiting the day they are released on the Wii VC, though I'm sure my NES is on its last legs as I have to do the Reset button trick about 50 times for a game to work.

Most of the games I play are old ones from snes-nes era.

I went back to punch out many times through my life to once again attempt to beat Mike Tyson.

I never managed to, I will probably try again many times but I doubt I will ever be able to.

I wish I could say I finished that game :(

played Dune 2 last month, pure nostalgia as it was my first game back then, still as cool es ever

Yeah man, I still break out the Sega Genesis for some Streets of Rage and Sonic the Hedgehog.

And Dreamcast. Does Dreamcast count? I play Power Stone still, that's a GREAT game.

Pure gaming nostalgia is when I downloaded an ATARI emulator to emulate my home computer from way back in 1982-1983, when I was 5 years old, and played Donkey Kong, Miner 2049er, and the like.

I still enjoy playing them!

I play my Turbo Game(sort of NES+Famicom) like everyday :D Currently working on beating Flappy, Zippy Race, Star Soldier and Arkanoid.

check out my virtual console guide; you'll notice that a lot of my favourite games are the old NES and SNES ones. the NES megaman games stand out in my mind as far as favourites go

it's the SNES that does it for me. super metroid, super castlevania, super mario world, contra, zelda, i play them all actively.

i could construct another "Jumpman Wall Of Words" talking about video game nostalgia but i'll just give you a statistic: of the 3945 songs i currently have, roughly 40% are VGM or arranged VGM, according to the fact that I made a "Normalcy" playlist two months ago purposely devoid of VGM stuff and said playlist is 2066 songs and i cant remember what else i left out. like ~100 of my 3945 are sound effects which dont really count cause i dont listen to them "but still"

As do I.

I also recently played some OG Megaman, and I was pretty glad about that.

i sometimes whip out my NESf or nostalgia...SMB3, Ice Hockey and TMNT were awesome...but the real nostalgia comes from the n64 for me, even if the games arent that old. Banjo-Kazooie/Tooie, Super Smash Brothers, Ocarina of time...video games these days just dont seem to be as epic

I still play my snes every so often. Mostly play TMNT 4, megaman x(1,2 and 3), Zelda LttP, and DK country. Its a shame i don't have dk country 2.

But my friends and i play n64 hardbody. But i don't know if that counts.

Super Smash Brothers, Goldeneye, Mariokart64, Diddykong Racing, Mario Tennis, Perfect Dark, and every so often pokemon stadium for the mini games.

I still play Final Fantasy Tactics.

When I go to my cousin's, we always whip out the old N64 and play Super Smash Brothers/Golden Eye 007. I rock at using Jigglypuff.

I play Tetris pretty much daily when I get bored if it counts although I do it on my cell which isn't very retro at all.

Other than that there isn't much, Ice Hockey on my Wii and then nothing more retro than Pokemon Stadium or FF Tactics usually.

I was way too young to remember what playing games on the NES was like for me to have a good nostalgic feeling, but my SNES still works and I play that every so often. Super Mario All Stars + Super Mario World, Kirby Super Star, Donkey Kong Country, and, possibly the best game in my collection, Donkey Kong Country 2.

I am beyond nasty at tetris on a cell phone. Tetris is all i do durring school so it has forced me to get nasty at it.

I still play my old Sonic 2 and 3 with Knuckles on my old Sega Genesis I'm still surprised that it still works. I still remember good ol' debug mode on both games. It was pretty fun.
