You'd think DIB would make him better. bit sad
DIB is literally meaningless when Steel Beam exists as a free 120 BP move with no recoil, accuracy issues, or stat drops

might be how it was in XY's betaWhy does fairy not resist poison or fire?
Why does fairy not resist poison or fire?
assuming you mean "why do poison and fire not resist fairy?". in the future consider reading the OPQ: How do the new types work?
Dark, Steel and Fairy all function properly defensively, but Fire does not resist Steel and Fairy, Poison does not resist Fairy and Dark is not super effective against Ghost or Psychic. Fairy moves are physical.
assuming you mean "why do poison and fire not resist fairy?". in the future consider reading the OP
MG1 works with custom game mechanics, which are not conceived with future gen mechanics in mind. Lot of MG1 mechanics are probably just not intended, including the weird MG1 type interactions with fairy and dark.that’s what i meant, why do fire and poison not resist fairy
well yeah but DIB has a flinch chance, hits twice, and is physical. have you seen melmetal's special stats?DIB is literally meaningless when Steel Beam exists as a free 120 BP move with no recoil, accuracy issues, or stat drops
my man's forgot the phys/special split!!well yeah but DIB has a flinch chance, hits twice, and is physical. have you seen melmetal's special stats?
i'm fairly confident you didn't play this meta very much and either don't intend to, or don't intend on researching RBY mechanics first; Fairy is barely a meaningfully good typing in this meta for anything other than being immune to Dragon - Fairy moves are all physical in this meta and with most of them being special attackers you probably can tell they have STAB issues similar to most Ghost types in the past gens, let alone being one of the few types weak to Steel being very problematic with the aforementioned extremely safe Steel Beami don't get the reasoning behind steel and fire not resisting fairy, that's never been a thing before and all it does is make fairy types stronger
i didn't intend to insult but poke at the way you don't seem to want to look for basic information at the OP FAQ's and would rather complain that the meta is in a shape you do not want it to be instead of trying to comprehend it and why it's this way. I simpl wish this topic was a bit more constructive instead of asking the same things over and overwas the thinly-veiled insult really necessary? Also, your confidence is very misplaced.
i'd try to argue it's typing and bulk might be salvageable but i... can't confidently see it winning against most of what seems to make OU good rn, sad to see itPecharunt is released now and will be starting in OU! This mon is absolutely terrible and you probably shouldn't use it.
You should give me a tier for metronome monsHELLO ITS MG1 TL HERE WITH ANOTHER CAPS LOCK INTRO. Soon there will be a very epic mg1 eipp anyone reading this can join. What is mg1 eipp you ask?
Everyone is Pokemon Pokemon (Modern Gen 1 Edition) is a Pokemon free-for-all social game (aka a battle royale) taking place on Discord over the course of several days. 40~ players select a Pokemon and choose a move each turn (24 hours), and then the hosts (me and teamo) calculate what happens with real mg1 calculations/mechanics. The last few players remaining are the winners!
A more in depth explanation and signups can be found in the Discord server here. The rest of this post will be dedicated to listing in the (in my opinion) top picks for this so I hopefully don't see anyone pick fucking Gouging Fire or Hydreigon. This is going to be targetted mostly at people new to EiPP but if you've played before this is hopefully still going to be a helpful read to learn more about (in my opinion) whats good in this twist.
Pretty much anything that fulfills all these criteria will be good, but if you're lazy and don't want to check here's (IN MY OPINION just because Im a host doesnt make me right btw....) some picks.
- Good survivability is the most important factor, preferably from a combination of good bulk, good defensive typing, and a good boosting move to either increase defenses directly and get kills to get defense boosts. Higher HP is better than higher defense as you only need a base 76 def/spdef stat to reach 999 (the stat cap) at +6, so mons like Diancie arent going to be particularly bulky even at max defenses because of its low base HP. Screens are a great way to increase bulk as they halve damage taken permanently, but can be ignored with crits unlike defensive boosts.
- Boosting moves are essential as everything is so insanely bulky that you will not be able to claim kills turn 1 or most likely 2 without significant help from allies.
- Being weak to Steel, Ice, Rock, or Ground is very bad and if a mon is weak to several of those its going to be an easy target for Steel Beams, Blizzards, Stone Edges, and Earthquakes.
- Accurate stab moves are essential as you are probably dead if you miss out on a kill early in the game due to missing.
- Being 4x weak to basically any type is a death sentence and brings even amazing mons from top tier to unviable. Pretty much the sole exception to being 4x weak to fairy as theres very few fairies, Moonblast is rare and Dazzling Gleam is insanely weak due to it being a spread move.
Top Picks
Good boosting in Take Heart/Tail Glow/Acid Armor/Screens + insane bulk + good typing + water/ice coverage (with eball for waters in lategame!)
Basically same mon as Manaphy, but 130/60/110 bulk instead of 100s. Loses out on Light Screen and Energy Ball too.
Good boosting, great bulk, great typing, fantastic stab with Boomburst, thats really all you need,
SD get acc boost click sedge (or click sedge before acc boost if youre lucky)
Bulky boosting etc but it also has physical psychic stab with EQ and DD.
Being an NFE, it gets +1 Def/SpDef at the start of the game which gives its good physical bulk and absolutely bonkers special bulk. On top of this, it gets Reflect to further its phys bulk and CM with a wide array of special coverage options.
Great Picks
Despite its mediocre typing, it has great stats, SD, and good dual coverage.
Being weak to Ice and Ground is not a problem if you are fucking Raging Bolt.
With First Impression being the fastest prio move, combined with SD and no protect, you can take any kill you want any turn uncontested.
IDCM + dual screens with only 2 weaknesses (and only 1 of them is relevant). Struggles with its moves having low BP though.
SD with SBeam + EQ is all you need and it has screens to patch up its mediocre SpDef.
Fantastic type, great stats and alright movepool mostly held back by mediocre boosting options which may make your early game difficult.
Good Picks
Worse Chansey, but if Chansey gets claused it's good. Has very slightly better endgame because of higher defense and HP but you have a much higher chance of dying early and have less SpAtk until +6.
Horrible typing defensively but you have 125/90/90 bulk and can spam Blizzards. Dual screens too but doesn't patch up the rock weakness.
Amazing high BP coverage with #1 most broken move in the game Spacial Rend makes up for mediocre bulk and type.
Thunderous Kick is great in this format and it has Light Screen (no Reflect for some reason) to patch most of its weaknesses.
Hone Claws to get an easy accuracy boost with high BP moves like Focus Blast, Gunk Shot, Stone Edge and Shadow Claw with good bulk and typing.
SD + Fighting moves (or IDPress) with big stats but aside from EQ and Heavy Slam/Hard Press its lacking coverage and its really fucking slow.
Decent Picks
While you have 1 weakness and Bug has no crit moves to get through Reflect, every single person will want you dead because of Instruct so prepare your crazy good social game.
It has good stats and an amazing move in Torch Song but it's typing and coverage leave alot to be desired.
Fantastic mon entirely limited by it's atrocious starting type. You will have to click camouflage turn 1.
Shell Trap can function as a prio move since it activates instantly upon hit and you're one of the only fire types so you'll have alot of good targets but people HATE this mon and you will get hate crimed lmao
SD + Drill Run + Steel Beam my beloved. Has kind of mediocre bulk and is ground weak itself however.
CM dual screen mon carried entirely by Lumina Crash.
Mostly worse Koko but it has Blaze Kick which makes it one of the best Fire types.
Barely Relevant Picks
Bad defensive typing partially saved by 107/139 physical bulk and BU, this mon has alright coverage but needs to rely on Hammer Arm, Dynamic Punch and Focus Punch for strong fighting STAB.
It's Annihilape without EQ or Gunk Shot and less bulk but it is alot faster so you can maybe hypothetically use it I guess.
It has Growth (CM clone) and Ivy Cudgel and that is all you will be clicking with your 60 SpAtk stat and zero coverage.
That's not like every single pick that good so just because I didn't list something doesn't mean it's useless. I am rushing because teamo just fucking posted signups and need to stop people from submitting Roaring Moon please save me.
