Gen V Stall, Back and Better than Ever

::~:: INTRO ::~::

Everyone was saying stall was dead, it was gone. Frankly, thats bullshit.
This is my first stall team EVER and it got me to #70 on the ladder. When a stall newbie can get to that rank, surely it cant be too bad.

Onto the real stuff:

::~:: IN DETAIL ::~::

Hippowdon.jpg

Hippowdon (M) @ Leftovers
Trait: Sand Stream
EVs: 252 HP / 16 Atk / 240 Def
Impish Nature (+Def, -SAtk)
- Earthquake
- Stealth Rock
- Roar
- Slack Off

Despite not being at the front of my team in the preview, this is usually my lead. The standard set is ridiculously bulky and the only flaw I can find is the inability to hit flying types. Not that that is a huge deal because Dorry will smash their faces in...
This member is vital as it is my Doryuuzu check aswell as my P'Hazer. The 16 EV's ensure an OHKO on 16HP Doryuuzu.

180px-598Nattorei.png

Nattorei (M) @ Leftovers
Trait: Iron Barbs
EVs: 252 HP / 4 Atk / 252 Def
Relaxed Nature (+Def, -Spd)
- Leech Seed
- Spikes
- Gyro Ball
- Power Whip

Everyone uses this thing, for a good reason. While it may not be as good as the usage suggests, it is a solid Poké and has deserved a permanent spot on this team.
I went for a more Offensive moveset, using two attack moves. Spikes are the reason for using this and Leech Seed was vital for Nattorei's survivability.

2u8zbyp.jpg

Burungeru (M) @ Leftovers
Trait: Water Absorb
EVs: 252 HP / 248 SDef / 8 Spd
Calm Nature (+SDef, -Atk)
- Boil Over
- Recover
- Shadow Ball
- Ice Beam

Burungeru has amazing synergy with Nattorei. The Specially Defensive side of this core is designed to force switches and block rapid spin. It is hard to find a better rapid spinner at this time than Burungeru.
Once again I've opted for a more Offensive approach, running Recover-3Attacks. I must say this set has served me well.

150px-Nurse_Joy_Blissey.png

Blissey (F) @ Leftovers
Trait: Natural Cure
EVs: 252 HP / 252 Def / 4 Spd
Bold Nature (+Def, -Atk)
- Wish
- Protect
- Toxic
- Seismic Toss

The Pink Whore returns again with her infinite SpD to just be absolutely amazing. I decided that Wish-Protect was not only the best way to rack up poison damage but it also creates my only Wish-Passer, a (IMO) vital part of stall teams.

73___Tentacruel_by_OneEyedMe.png

Tentacruel (M) @ Black Sludge
Trait: Clear Body
EVs: 252 HP / 252 Def / 4 Spd
Bold Nature (+Def, -Atk)
- Rapid Spin
- Toxic Spikes
- Surf
- Ice Beam

Now this is where I need your help. I simply can't find a suitable Rapid Spinner. I want a more Physically Defensive Poké but I tried and disliked Forretress because of how similar it is to Nattorei. The set is generic but I need help finding a possible replacement.

doryuuzu.png

Doryuuzu (M) @ Life Orb
Trait: Sand Throw
EVs: 4 HP / 252 Atk / 252 Spd
Adamant Nature (+Atk, -SAtk)
- Swords Dance
- Earthquake
- Rock Slide
- Rapid Spin
I like to run at least one offensive Pokémon in every team and this fits the bill perfectively. My stall team can be used to slowly whittle down my opponent until Doryuuzu comes out an finishes the job, comfortably. Often my last Poké, this thing weakened teams by itself. Rapid Spin is on their because I never see Celebi or Claydol and I think 2 layers of Toxic Spikes + Rapid spin is a bit much for Tentacruel to handle, especially with no recovery. I chose LO over Balloon because I think Rock Slide really needs that kick due to the low Base Power and lack of STAB

::~:: Conclusion ::~::

Thanks for reading all those lines of text and please help me out a bit here, especially with my T'Spiker. Any decent rate would be greatly appreciated.

I hope to hear some great feedback from some great Smogonites!

Nice team. The only things I'd say need improving is maybe Return for rapid spin on Doryuuzu as it allows you to reliably KO Gliscor and other things that could potentially wall you. Or perhaps switch to RP or SD + Hp Ice Randorosu. But, yeah, nice team.

I'd try taunt on burungeru if I were you, to at least hinder other stall teams and stop rankurusu from setting up on you, other than that the team looks decent

Rankurusu is probably the biggest threat to this team. A bulky version can absorb your physical attacks with ease (apart from Doryuuzu's boosted attacks), and can easily come in on Tentacruel, Blissey, and Nattorei. The only reason it can't come in on Hippowdon is Roar, and Burungeru has Shadow Ball, but Rankurusu will take little damage from the latter after a Calm Mind boost. Recover means attempts to weaken it with Seismic Toss will be wasteful, and Magic Guard prevents it from taking Poison, Leech Seed, Sandstorm, Stealth Rock, and Spikes damage, which really means it can hurt your team. With Focus Blast and Psychic, it hits 4 of your 6 Pokemon for super effective damage, and the other two (Hippowdon and Burungeru) cannot stand up to Rankurusu after a Calm Mind, as previously mentioned.

For this reason, I would suggest adding a Spiritomb over Burungeru. Precisely, this Spiritomb set:
Spiritomb (M) @ Leftovers
Trait: Pressure
EVs: 252 HP / 252 SDef / 4 Spd
Careful Nature (+SDef, -SAtk)
- Will-O-Wisp
- Pursuit / Shadow Sneak
- Pain Split
- Taunt

It doesn't have Recover like Burungeru, but it does have that excellent typing that allows it to beat Psychic/Focus Blast Rankurusu with ease, as it cannot touch Spiritomb. Taunt stops set up Pokemon switching in, and also prevents Nattorei from setting up Spikes (you outspeed Nattorei). Taunt also helps against opposing stall teams, as it means they will struggle to restore HP, allowing you to wall their weaker hits and force switches, racking up Spikes damage. The rest of the moves are pretty obvious I think; Will-O-Wisp cripples switch-ins on the physical side which is useful considering the EV spread, Pain Split can be used to restore HP and go on the offensive somewhat if played correctly, and Pursuit helps you nail Starmie and Latios for some good damage (though you may prefer Shadow Sneak's priority). In general, Spiritomb also helps with your Substitute/Swords Dance/Drain Punch/Sucker Punch Toxicroak weakness, as you can just Taunt it and spam Will-O-Wisp whilst it swiftly wastes its PP with Pressure. If it switches, you land that crippling Will-O-Wisp on something else. No Recover isn't a total loss, as Spiritomb is immune to Fighting, and therefore can usually absorb Blissey's Wishes nicely (plus it's bulky enough to survive a hit and be healed by Wish anyway).

As for the Rapid Spin problem, the only Pokemon I can think of is some kind of Donphan. Earthquake is strong and will hurt Burungeru somewhat, and Ice Shard can help against Randorosu. However, it does leave you a lot weaker to opposing stall teams as you can no longer absorb Toxic Spikes just by switching in. Perhaps you should try a more specially defensive Tentacruel and see if the change allows you to play it differently enough so that you don't need to change Pokemon. I know you're looking for a more defensive Pokemon, but that may just be because the current EV spread means that Tentacruel cannot take either physical or special hits very well and therefore Tentacruel appears useless (tons of physical attackers have EQs that don't care about the EV spread), so changing it so you can come in on special attacks at least may be worthwhile. Also, try out Liquid Ooze Tentacruel, it's much better than Clear Body, as it means sapping moves like Leech Seed will harm the opponent.

Sorry this ended up so long, I didn't mean to ramble, and good luck with your team.

Roopushin alone will tear half your team apart. Rankurusu will tear your WHOLE team apart aside from Dory. Get a Gliscor.
