Gender Preference in Pokemon Teams

I don't know if it's just me, but I... 'prefer' to have as much of my team as males... Do you guys just pick any gender, as long as it's good? Because, I probably have a gender superiority issue.

The only female Pokemon I consider to use are Pokemon that are 100% female or shinies that just happened to be female. (I have a female sassy shiny Budew. Yeah, nasty nature. I'd consider using her, because she's shiny.)

I know it leaves me prone to females using charm, attract, etc. I just can't be bothered to strengthen my team by adding variety in the genders of my Pokemon, even though it adds a very easy counter to my team.

On Netbattle, I'd make them all female (unless they didn't have the option, like Nidoking, Starmie, etc.), since most Attracters are female.

Outside of Netbattle, it doesnt really matter to me.

I like to go by what gender the Pokemon looks like it is. But breeding in game really does mean it's hard to get what you want.

I usually use females, unless they've been trained just to get some move to breed (for example, I've trained a Kingdra so I could breed for a Bagon with Hydro Pump and Dragon Pulse) or have something like 87.5% chance of being male (like Infernape).

It takes so damn long to breed a pokemon with good IVs and nature i really couldn't care less about breeding for a specific gender as well, makes life extra difficult for no reason more than to say "look at how macho i am, an all MAN action team".

I agree with Firestorm88, I try to use the gender they look most likely to be. In most cases I would have to say that is male.

I too agree with him. That's why my female Tyranitar irks me just a little bit >>

YOU'RE ALL SEXIST. Seriously though, because breeding is difficult enough, when a suitable Pokemon comes up, its gender is the last of my concerns.

I use the gender the one with the better IV's gives me

which involves a female heracross (that horn looks really lame)

I don't really care about the genders, but if a Pokemon looks male, I try to make it male, and the same for female... ex:

Male:
Jolteon - Sparky
Floatzel - Napoleon
Tyranitar - T-Rex
Charizard - Blaze
Crobat - Batman :P

Female:
Delcatty - DoReMe
Blissey - Mo.Teresa
Garchomp - Gabriella
Lopunny - Bunniquewah
Flareon - Fiona

I worry about genders varying with the design of the pokemon, meaning I'd rather use a female Ninetales or a male Infernape.

And I don't feel comfortable unless my Team has 2 Female and 3 Males, while the 6th is either Genderless or Male.

I like using males because I'm a sexist pig. I tried and tried and tried to get used to my female Electivire, but it's just weird seeing a female Punch everything into oblivion.

The good news is that I named her Elektra.

Don't forget getting the right ability, too.

Alright, Jolly Heracross with great IVs......and Swarm...>_>

Mixed. I really don't care.

Slightly off topic, one of the galactic trainers I came up against used Purugly with Attract. Barf.

Also, Lopunny should be female-only.

GameFreak will probably add a male-only Buneary evolution in the next game. . .

For my Pokemon, what I try to do is equalize it. And sometimes I like making burly Pokemon female just because (Tyranitar comes to mind).

As far as Lopunny...it's very possible GF will add a "male" variation, although personally I don't think there's anything wrong with having male playboy bunnies. :3

It really only matters for Attracters, who you generally want to be Females, mainly because the starters are prodominantly Male and are used commonly. otherwise, gender matters near not at all (unless you're using a Cute Charm poke like Clefable, who you'd prefer to be female) and you shouoldnt worry about making a team balanced in gender
