Monotype Gliscor (Ground) [QC: 3/3] [GP: 2/2]

[OVERVIEW]
Ground
========
Gliscor's good bulk and movepool let it serve as an effective stallbreaker and defensive pivot on Ground teams. Poison Heal is a great defensive ability that allows Gliscor to avoid harmful status such as burns and heals 1/8 of its health every turn after it has been poisoned by a Toxic Orb. These traits allow it to switch into passive walls like Mantine and Celesteela and threaten them with Taunt. Gliscor is also one of the best users of Knock Off on Ground teams, helping remove items like Eviolite to make certain Pokemon like Chansey easier to break past. While Gliscor's secondary Flying typing grants it a useful neutrality to Grass-type attacks, it also burdens it with a 4x weakness to Ice-type moves, letting Pokemon that have Ice-type coverage such as Porygon-Z and Kyurem-B easily force it out. In addition, Gliscor's only decent bulk means powerful wallbreakers like Mega Gallade and Hydreigon can punch through it with little issue.

[SET]
name: Stallbreaker
move 1: Earthquake
move 2: Roost
move 3: Taunt
move 4: Knock Off
item: Toxic Orb
ability: Poison Heal
nature: Jolly
evs: 244 HP / 32 Def / 120 SpD / 112 Spe

[SET COMMENTS]
Moves
========
Earthquake is Gliscor's strongest and only STAB move, being able to deal consistent damage to threats that are not immune to it. Roost allows Gliscor to keep itself healthy so it can effectively switch into attacks throughout the battle. Taunt helps Gliscor to stallbreak, preventing passive walls like Skarmory from healing themselves or laying entry hazards. Knock Off provides utility by removing items such as Dragonite's Choice Band and Chansey's Eviolite so they can be dealt with more easily. It also can hit key Ground-immune targets like Celesteela and Air Balloon Heatran.

Set Details
========
244 HP EVs in conjunction with 32 Defense EVs allow Gliscor to always avoid a 2HKO from Choice Scarf Tapu Bulu's Horn Leech after Stealth Rock while also maximizing its recovery from Poison Heal. 112 Speed EVs with a Jolly nature let Gliscor outspeed threats such as Adamant Diggersby and Timid Heatran, letting it check them more effectively. The remaining EVs are put into Special Defense to take special hits such as Latios's Draco Meteor more easily. Alternatively, more EVs can be moved from Special Defense to Speed to hit certain benchmarks, such as 120 Speed to outspeed Jolly Diggersby, and 176 Speed to outspeed Nidoking and Suicune. Toxic Orb combined with Poison Heal allows Gliscor to heal 1/8 of its health per turn while also making it immune to harmful status after it has activated.

Usage Tips
========
Gliscor should be brought in on passive walls like Celesteela and proceed to use Taunt to prevent them from healing and slowly whittle them down. It's important to be careful before Gliscor's Toxic Orb has activated to avoid getting it burned by Will-O-Wisp or Scald users such as Mega Sableye and Swampert, respectively. This risk can be avoided if Gliscor comes via a double switch when your opponent is likely to switch out. Once it is poisoned, Gliscor can effectively be used as a status absorber for the team, being able to switch into Toxic or Will-O-Wisp aimed for a teammate like Gastrodon. Gliscor also makes for a good pivot into Knock Off due to it not needing Toxic Orb after it has activated. Since opponents might try to predict Gliscor using Taunt and directly bring in an offensive check like Greninja, it is sometimes worthwhile to try to predict this and attack them on the switch in. Knock Off is a good move to spam early-game, as removing Leftovers or Eviolite from defensive walls like Staraptor and Chansey makes them easier to wear down and break past for Gliscor's teammates. Taunt can sometimes allow Gliscor to stall out the PP of walls with one attacking move, such as Ferrothorn, forcing them to use Struggle. However, Gliscor can also be stalled out of Taunt PP if the opponent switches between their Pokemon repeatedly and Stealth Rock is not up.

Team Options
========
Gliscor's decent bulk and ability to take advantage of and shut down passive walls let it fit onto many Ground teams. Gastrodon and Seismitoad make for great defensive partners due to their typing and abilities granting them an Ice-neutrality and a Water immunity, covering both of Gliscor's weaknesses. Gastrodon can reliably switch into threats like Choice Specs Keldeo and Choice Scarf Greninja thanks to Recover, while Seismitoad has the ability to outspeed and KO Belly Drum Azumarill. In exchange, Gliscor can switch into Toxic from walls like Chansey as well as take on Grass-types like Cradily. Landorus is a good offensive partner for Gliscor that is able to deal with Pokemon immune to Ground-type attacks with Gravity, as well as outpace threats such as Kyurem-B. In return, Gliscor can weaken special walls that give it trouble such as Mantine. Garchomp and Mega Garchomp are powerful wallbreakers that can use Swords Dance to break foes like Swampert. With Gliscor supporting them by relieving pressure from them dealing with walls, they can break the majority of balanced cores in the metagame. Mega Garchomp also can choose to run a mixed wallbreaking set that can threaten types like Water and Flying with its broad coverage, being able to hit Mantine with Stone Edge and Celesteela with Fire Blast. Excadrill with Hippowdon to provide Sand Stream support forms a core that can revenge kill and clean weakened threats such as Keldeo while also providing entry hazards and phazing support. In exchange, Gliscor can deal with bulky Flying-types such as Staraptor, which can otherwise can switch into both Hippowdon and Excadrill. Excadrill can also check Ice-types like Alolan Ninetales with a STAB Iron Head. Mega Steelix serves as a good defensive partner for Gliscor, boasting great mixed bulk and a valuable Ice-neutrality that allow it to take on huge threats like Belly Drum Azumarill, Tapu Bulu, and Kyurem-B, as well as being able to serve as a wincon with Curse to threaten types like Fairy and Dragon. Gliscor can support it by dealing with its checks such as Zapdos. Dugtrio can trap huge threats to Gliscor such as Greninja and Kyurem-B thanks to Arena Trap and a Focus Sash. Gliscor's Taunt helps make this easier by preventing hazards from common setters such as Ferrothorn. Mamoswine is a powerful wallbreaker that appreciates Gliscor's ability to soften up teams to make switching into it more difficult. In return, it provides a unique Ice-type resistance for Ground-teams as well as strong priority Ice Shard to pick off threats like Hydreigon and Tapu Bulu and Icicle Crash to threaten Flying teams.

[STRATEGY COMMENTS]
Other Options
=============
Gliscor can opt to run Swords Dance over Taunt to still be able to muscle past bulky walls while also being less passive against offensive threats. Facade is an option over Knock Off on these sets to hit Pokemon such as Tapu Bulu and Breloom hard after a Swords Dance boost. However, this set doesn't have the benefits of denying entry hazards and recovery with Taunt and is less consistent against bulky phazers such as Swampert. A moveset of Earthquake or Knock Off, Substitute, Protect, and Toxic can make Gliscor a menace against types like Psychic, being able to stall out foes effectively thanks to Poison Heal. However, this set is either utterly walled by Celesteela when running Earthquake or very passive and exploitable when running Knock Off.

Checks and Counters
===================

**Ice-type Attacks**: Gliscor has a crippling 4x weakness to Ice-type moves, which allows foes with Ice-type coverage such as Porygon2 and Tapu Koko to heavily damage or OHKO it.

**Water-types**: Though weak Water-types like Gastrodon and Toxapex cannot 2HKO Gliscor thanks to Poison Heal, more offensive Water-type attackers like Gyarados and Keldeo can outspeed and blow past Gliscor. Gliscor also fears Scald burns before its Toxic Orb is activated, which cripple it severely.

**Wallbreakers**: Gliscor's only above-average bulk means powerful wallbreakers like Diggersby and Dragonite can 2HKO it with their STAB moves, making it unable to switch into them.

**Trick**: Gliscor is completely crippled by Trick giving it a Choice item due to it being very exploitable when locked into a single move and completely unable to stallbreak effectively. However, Toxic Orb will badly poison the Pokemon that receives it after Trick has been used.

Okay sorry to be the bearer of bad news, but I discussed with other QC and we want this to be the set:

[SET]
name: Stallbreaker
move 1: Earthquake
move 2: Roost
move 3: Taunt
move 4: Knock Off
item: Toxic Orb
ability: Poison Heal
nature: Jolly
evs: 244 HP / 32 Def / 120 SpD / 112 Spe (outspeed Heatran)

Then in OO, please delete u-turn and SR and defog. You can keep the sub protect set.
Please also add an EV spread of 244 HP / 32 Def / 56 SpD / 176 Spe (outspeed Suicune) to OO.
You can move the SD set to OO as well.

Please tag me when you're done with these changes across the analysis since it affects a good amount of it and then I'll QC it. Guwahavel

*244 HP EVs in conjunction with 32 Defense EVs allow Gliscor to always avoid a 2HKO from Choice Scarf Tapu Bulu's Horn Leech after Stealth Rock while also maximizing its recovery from Poison Heal.
*112 Speed EVs with a Jolly Nature let Gliscor outspeed threats such as Jolly Adamant Diggersby (it doesn't; max Jolly Diggersby is 280 speed while this set has Gliscor at 1 speed point lower) and Timid Volcanion Heatran, letting it check them more effectively.
*The remaining EVs are put into Special Defense to take special hits such as Latios's Draco Meteor easier.
*Alternatively, a spread with 176 Speed can be used to outspeed threats such as Nidoking and Suicune at the cost of its special bulk.
*Toxic Orb combined with Poison Heal allow Gliscor to heal 1/8 of it's health per turn while also being immune to harmful status after it has activated.

Usage Tips
========
*Gliscor should be brought in on passive walls like Celesteela and then proceed to use either Taunt to prevent them from healing and slowly wittle them down.

*Gliscor can effectively be used as a status absorber for the team only if it's already poisoned, being able to switch into Toxic or Will-O-Wisp aimed for a teammate like Gastrodon. I'd combine the above two points tbh.
*Since opponents might try to predict Gliscor using Taunt and directly bring in an offensive check like Greninja, it is sometimes worthwhile to try to predict this and attack them on them switch-in.

Team Options
========
*Gliscor's good all around bulk and ability to take advantage of and shut down passive walls let it fit onto many Ground-(RH) teams.
*Gastrodon or Seismitoad make for great defensive partners due to their typing granting an Ice-nuetrality and their abilities giving them a Water-immunity, covering both of Gliscor’s weaknesses. In exchange, Gliscor can switch into Toxic from walls like Chansey as well as take on Grass-types like Celebi Cradily. Mention the difference between Gastro and Seis. i.e. Gastrodon being able to have reliable recovery vs. Seismitoad being able to check and revenge kill Azumarill after a BD.
*Landorus-I and Landorus-T make for is a good offensive partners for Gliscor, being able to support it with Gravity or U-Turn respectively, while outpacing threats such as Kyurem-Black. In return, Gliscor can weaken walls that give them it trouble such as Mantine. Base form Landorus is by far the better form for Ground teams because of its Sheer Force + LO combination and special wallbreaking prowess, so I'd remove all mentions of Lando-T.
*Garchomp or Mega Garchomp are powerful wallbreakers that can use Swords Dance to break walls like Swampert. With Gliscor supporting them by reliving pressure from them to deal with walls, can break the majority of balanced cores in the metagame. I'd seperate Garchomp and it's Mega form into different bullet points. Base Garchomp can use SD and a Z-crystal to bow past it's checks, while Mega Garchomp is often used as a Mixed wallbreaker that assists against Flying-teams through its amazing coverage and wallbreaking prowess.
*Excadrill with sand support from Hippowdon form a core that can revenge kill and clean weakened threats such as Keldeo while also providing hazard support and phasing. In exchange, Gliscor can deal with bulky Flying-types such as Staraptor which otherwise can switch into both Hippowdon and Excadrill.
*Mega Steelix serves as a good defensive partner for Gliscor, boasting great mixed bulk and a valuable Ice-nuetrality, and being able to take the role of a Stealth Rock setter or a Curse set-up wincon. Gliscor can support it by dealing with it's checks such as Zapdos. Mention how that it can survive Adamant Azumarill's Aqua Jet at +6 and revenge kill it with Heavy Slam, as well as how it checks Kyurem-B and Tapu Bulu that would otherwise dominate Ground teams.
*Nidoking serves as a powerful special attacker that can use diverse coverage to break past threats such as Skarmory. Gliscor can assist is by dealing with special walls like Chansey that otherwise counter Nidoking.
*Dugtrio can trap huge threats to Gliscor such as Greninja and Kyurem-Black thanks to Arena Trap and a Focus Sash. Gliscor helps it do this easier by preventing hazards from common setters such as Ferrothorn with Taunt.
*Mamoswine is a powerful wallbreaker that appreciates Gliscor's ability to soften up teams to make switching into it more difficult. In return, it provides a unique Ice-type resistance for Ground-teams as well as strong priority Ice Shard to pick off threats like Hydriegon and Tapu Bulu. Mention how Mamoswine is the only Ground-type to reliably damage Celesteela + Flying-types in general w/o having to rely on Gravity from Landorus or Excadrill's Rock Slide.

[STRATEGY COMMENTS]
Other Options
=============
*Gliscor can opt to run Swords Dance over Taunt to still muscle past bulky walls while also being able to be less passive against offensive threats. Facade is an option over Knock Off on these sets to hit Pokemon such as Tapu Bulu and Breloom hard after a Swords Dance boost. However, this set doesn't have the benefits of denying hazards and healing with Taunt.
*A moveset of Earthquake (Perhaps Knock Off > EQ here considering this analysis is for Ground and nearly every Ground mon has Ground-type STAB; also helps vs. Celesteela), Subsitute, Protect, and Toxic can make Gliscor into a menace against types like Psychic, being able to stall out Toxic turns effectively thanks to Poison Heal. However, this set is utterly walled by Celesteela which Gliscor is usually valued as a check to.

Checks and Counters
===================
Fix the spacing between each bullet point here.
**Ice-type attacks** Gliscor's quadruple Ice-weaknesses means Pokemon that use them, even those that are not Ice-types such as Tapu Koko and Mega Lopunny, are able to heavily damage it or outright OHKO it. has a crippling 4x weakness to Ice-type moves, and allows foes with Ice-type coverage such as Mega Lopunny and Tapu Koko to heavily damage or OHKO it. Reworded this for clarity.

**Water-types** Thought weak Water-types like Gastrodon and Toxapex cannot 2HKO Gliscor thanks to Poison Heal, more offensive Water-type attackers like Kingdra and Manaphy can outspeed and blow past Gliscor. Perhaps mention how Gliscor fears Scald, as Scald burns not only halve its attack but also prevent Gliscor's passive recovery.

**Wallbreakers** Gliscor's only above-average bulk means powerful wallbreakers like Diggersby and Mega Gardevoir Dragonite can 2HKO it with their STAB moves, making it unable to switch into them.

**Celesteela and Skarmory**:

Talked it over w/ Moosical; you can convert my AMCheck into QC 1/3.

However before you do so, change the nature on Diggersby from Jolly to Adamant in Set Details. As was mentioned in my AMcheck, Max speed Jolly Diggersby reaches 280 Speed. This specific Gliscor spread is slower than Jolly Diggersby by one speed point. Otherwise, implement everything else that you haven't yet already done.

don't add cele+skarm in c&c either

Overview:
- Mention Knock Off utility, which can be hard to impossible to find on Gastrodon teams.

Moves:
- Knock Off hitting Air Balloon Heatran and Celesteela is super important to mention, since that lets Gliscor break Steel.

Usage Tips:
- Talk about using Knock Off to remove items early-game so that it's easier to handle walls for the rest of the team.
- Also the threat of PP stalling walls with Taunt, since most walls aren't going to be able to break Gliscor at all and will be forced to use their attacking moves.

Team Options:
- Gravity doesn't really help Gliscor, since it doesn't tend to really need it against targets it can actually beat anyway.
- Honestly Stealth Rock Mega Steelix is pretty awful.
- Remove Nidoking. Skarmory doesn't really threaten Gliscor at all.

Other Options:
- The SD set is generally worse against walls. That isn't very clear right now.

Checks and Counters:
- Ice Punch Mega Lopunny is almost unused nowadays. Download Porygon2 works here to keep a Normal-type.
- Possibly Trick? Even though it cripples in return with Toxic poison, Gliscor can't do anything really if it's Tricked a Choice item

QC 2/3

244 HP EVs in conjunction with 32 Defense EVs allow Gliscor to always avoid a 2HKO from Choice Scarf Tapu Bulu's Horn Leech from full health (I think mentioning this is crucial because it MUST be at full to always avoid the 2hko) after Stealth Rock while also maximizing its recovery from Poison Heal. 112 Speed EVs with a Jolly Nature let Gliscor outspeed threats such as Adamant Diggersby and Timid Heatran, letting it check them more effectively. The remaining EVs are put into Special Defense to take special hits such as Latios's Draco Meteor easier more easily. Alternatively, more EVs can be moved from Special Defense to Speed to hit certain benchmarks, such as 120 Speed to outspeed Jolly Diggersby, or 176 Speed to outspeed Nidoking and Suicune. However, this comes at the cost of its special bulk. Toxic Orb combined with Poison Heal allows Gliscor to heal 1/8 of it's its health per turn while also being immune to harmful status after it has activated.

Usage Tips
========
Gliscor should be brought in on passive walls like Celesteela and then proceed to use either Taunt to prevent them from healing and slowly whittling them down. It's important to be careful before Gliscor's Toxic Orb has activated to avoid getting it burned by Will-O-Wisp or Scald users such as Mega Sableye and Swampert. Since opponents might try to predict Gliscor using Taunt and directly bring in an offensive check like Greninja, it is sometimes worthwhile to try to predict this and attack them on them switch-in the switch in. Knock Off is a good move to spam early-game (add hyphen) as removing Leftovers from defensive walls like Staraptor, as well as Eviolite from Pokemon such as Chansey, makes them easier to wear down and break past for Gliscor's teammates. Taunt can sometimes allow Gliscor to stall out the PP of walls with one attacking move, such as Ferrothorn, making them forced to use Struggle. However, Gliscor can also be stalled out of Taunt PP if the opponent switches between their Pokemon repeatedly and Stealth Rocks are Rock is not up.

Team Options
========
Gliscor's good decent bulk (in the overview, you mentioned it only has decent bulk; in checks and counters, you say it's only about-average, but now you mention it has good bulk. that's the reason why i changed this) and ability to take advantage of and shut down passive walls let it fit onto many Ground teams. Gastrodon or Seismitoad make for great defensive partners due to their typing granting an Ice-nuetrality neutrality and their abilities giving them a Water-immunity, covering both of Gliscor’s weaknesses. Landorus-I is a good offensive partner for Gliscor, being able to deal with Pokemon immune to Ground-type attacks with Gravity, (RC) while outpacing threats such as Kyurem-Black. In return, Gliscor can weaken special walls that give it trouble such as Mantine. Garchomp or Mega Garchomp are powerful wallbreakers that can use Swords Dance to break walls like Swampert. With Gliscor supporting them by reliving relieving pressure from them to deal dealing with walls their checks, they can break the majority of balanced cores in the metagame. Mega Garchomp also can choose to run a mixed wallbreaking set that can threaten types like Water and Flying with its broad coverage, being able to hit Mantine with Stone Edge and Celesteela with Fire Blast. Excadrill with sand support from Hippowdon form forms a core that can revenge kill and clean weakened threats such as Keldeo while also providing hazard and phazing support and phasing. In exchange, Gliscor can deal with bulky Flying-types such as Staraptor, (AC) which can otherwise can switch into both Hippowdon and Excadrill. Excadrill can also check Ice-types like Alolan Ninetales with a STAB Iron Head. Mega Steelix serves as a good defensive partner for Gliscor, boasting great mixed bulk and a valuable Ice-nuetrality neutrality, (AC) which allows it to take on huge threats like Belly Drum Azumarill, Tapu Bulu, and Kyurem-Black, while being able to take the role of a Curse set-up serve as a wincon with Curse, and is able to that can threaten types like Fairy and Dragon. Gliscor can support it by dealing with it's its checks such as Zapdos. Dugtrio can trap huge threats to Gliscor such as Greninja and Kyurem-Black thanks to Arena Trap and a Focus Sash. Gliscor helps it do this easier by preventing hazards from common setters such as Ferrothorn with Taunt. Mamoswine is a powerful wallbreaker that appreciates Gliscor's ability to soften up teams to make switching into it more difficult. In return, it provides a unique Ice-type resistance for Ground-teams as well as strong priority Ice Shard to pick off threats like Hydriegon and Tapu Bulu and Icicle Crash to threaten Flying-type teams.

[STRATEGY COMMENTS]
Other Options
=============
However, this set doesn't have the benefits of denying hazards and healing recovery with Taunt, while being less consistent against bulky Pokemon with access to phasing such as Swampert. A moveset of Earthquake or Knock Off, Subsitute Substitute, Protect, and Toxic can make Gliscor into a menace against types like Psychic, being able to stall out Toxic turns effectively thanks to Poison Heal. However, this set is either utterly walled by Celesteela when running Earthquake, or very passive and exploitable when running Knock Off.

Checks and Counters
===================

**Ice-type attacks** Gliscor has a crippling 4x weakness to Ice-type moves, (RC) and allows foes with Ice-type coverage such as Porygon2 and Tapu Koko to heavily damage or OHKO it.

**Water-types** Though weak Water-types like Gastrodon and Toxapex cannot 2HKO Gliscor thanks to Poison Heal, more offensive Water-type attackers like Gyarados and Keldeo can outspeed and blow past Gliscor. Gliscor also fears Scald burns before it's Toxic Orb is activated due to it crippling it severely.

**Wallbreakers** Gliscor's only above-average bulk means powerful wallbreakers like Diggersby and Dragonite can 2HKO it with their STAB moves, making it unable to switch into them.

**Trick** Gliscor is completely crippled by Trick giving it a Choice item due to it being very exploitable when locked into a single move and completely unable to stallbreak effectively. However, Toxic Orb will badly poison the Pokemon that recieves receives it after Trick has been used.

========
Gliscor's good bulk and movepool let it serve as an effective stallbreaker and defensive pivot on Ground teams. Poison Heal is a great defensive ability that allows Gliscor to avoid harmful status such as burn and heals 1/8 of its health every turn after it has been poisoned by a Toxic Orb. These traits allow it to switch into passive walls like Mantine and Celesteela and threaten them with Taunt. Gliscor is also one of the best users of Knock Off on Ground teams, helping remove items like Chansey's Eviolite to make it easier to break past. While Gliscor's secondary Flying typing (RH) grants it a useful neutrality to Grass-type attacks, it also burdens it with a 4x weakness to Ice-type moves, letting Pokemon that have Ice-type coverage such as Porygon-Z and Kyurem-B easily force it out. In addition, Gliscor's only decent bulk means powerful wallbreakers like Mega Gallade and Hydriegon Hydreigon can punch through it with little issue.
