GLOBAL PANDEMIC!!!

The purpose of my team is to have all the necessary good stuff (stealth rock)go before my special baton pass set up pokemon where it can set up for my two sweepers and my other two can function well on there own. I really enjoy this team as it has got me a lot of wins on the smogon server.

The team at a glance

My team consist of Hydreigon, Infernape, Venasaur, Forretress, Cloyster, Espeon.

635.png

Hydreigon( Hydra)@ Expert Belt Ability: Levitate
-Dark Pulse
-Draco Meteor
-SuperPower
-Fire Blast
Nature: Rash
Evs:4 Hp, 252 Special Attack, 252 Speed

Hydreigons main role on my team is to be a late game sweeper after getting his calm mind stat boost from my espeon. When he has his two calm minds on him I haven't met a trainer who can stop him. He can take out staplers like jirachi and ferrothorn with fire blast. And his super power can take out terrakion and tyranitar. Also with his dark pulse and Draco meteor can can take out the Latios and Latias so with all of this my hydreigon is the main pillar of my team.

Infernape( HotPocket)@Life Orb Ability: Iron Fist
-OverHeat
-Close Combat
-Mach Punch
-U-Turn
Nature:Hasty
Evs: 252 Attack, 252 Speed, 4 Special Attack

My Infernape is an extremely important member of my team. His role is to get in after Forretress sets up and try and make as big as dent as it can. This is done by either using Mach punch or U-Turn. I normally only use close combat and overheat on major threats because of the stat drop. Even without using a priority move though he still outspeeds most of the teir with hasty and 252 Speed Evs.
003.gif

Venasaur( VitaminD)@ Black Sludge Ability: Overgrow
-Giga Drain
-Growth
-Sludge Bomb
-Sleep Powder
Nature:Timid
Evs:72 Hp, 184 Speed, 252 Special Attack

Although many people mainly see venasaur as a Chlorophyll sweep I decided to take advantage of his move growth. When he switches in he can either outspeed or live through most hits. He can also sometimes go in as a replacement for hydreigon if the opponent is running a rain dance team. He can them easily sweep these ever growing more popular rain teams.
205.gif

Forretress( Nugget)@Leftovers Ability: Sturdy
-Stealth Rock
-Volt Switch
-Gyro Ball
-Rapid Spin
Nature: Relaxed
Evs:252 Hp, 252 Defense, 4 Special Defense Ivs:0 Speed

As everyone knows forretress is a utility pokemon. And I hate to go by social norm but mine is no different. He usually goes in first and sets up stealth rock while Rapid Spinning all of there hazards away. After he has done his job he can either take an gyro ball attack or as usual he volt switches out.
091.gif

Cloyster( Conch)@White Herb Ability:Skill Link
-Icicle Spear
-Razor Shell
-Rock Blast
-Shell Smash
Nature: Jolly
Evs: 252 Attack, 252 Speed, 4 Defense

My Cloyster is underestimated by most opponents. I cannot see why though as to me he has been one of my most important members of this team. I really like this set as the draw back to shell smash is the defensive downgrade but because white herb this is no longer a problem at least for one turn of shell smashing. I found though even an unboosted icicle spear can down any of the dragons.
196.gif

Espeon( MoonKitty)@Focus Sash Ability:Magic Bounce
-Calm mind
-Baton Pass
-Stored Power
-Hidden Power (Fire)
Nature: Bold
Evs: 252 Hp, 252 Defense, 4 Speed

My Espeons role on the team is to setup for mostly hydreigon or sometimes the occasional setup for venasaur. It can do damage on its own though as if it has high enough Hp I sometimes used stored power and after 2 calm minds that is some dangerous stuff. I chose to run hidden power fire over hidden power fighting because the fighting is to deal with tyranitar and I have not seen many around the OU metagame recently so I went with fire so it could get a 4x boost on scizor.

Threats: I have found two major threats to this team are...

286.gif
Breloom: I just have a hard time finishing him off quickly as I consider him to be one of the hardest sets to predict and he puts up quite a fight usually taking one or two of my pokemon with him

534.gif
Conkeldurr: he is a hard nut to crack because of his stats, ability and moves. Mainly my espeon ends up taking it down 1V1 but because of the HP drop is prevented from doing his baton pass job effectivley.

I would like to thank smogon for letting me be on the site, showdown for giving me a good testing ground and my friend fridge who helped me make this team. Please rate as I took a lot of time into making this thread and it is my first RMT.

A couple of suggestions:

1. I agree with ReFridge about switching out Hydregion for Latios. Although Hydregion is good, its not unbeatable, even after the two Calm Mind boosts. It just isn't fast enough. Switching to Latios will also fix your Breloom/Conkeldurr weakness

2. The Shell Smash Cloyster is fine where it is, but you might want to switch the white herb for a focus sash, as it guarantees that you will be able to set up the shell smash.

Hope this helps!

Hey, Earth! Glad you managed to get the sprites working, the RMT looks much better now.

This team absolutely screams sun team. I mean, you're using Venusaur, Infernape, Forretress, and Hydreigon, all of which really appreciate the sun being up. I'd suggest using Specially Defensive Ninetales over Espeon. Espeon, while useful, doesn't support your team as much as a Ninetales would. You have Forretress to take care of Rocks, Hydreigon and Infernape to break walls, Cloyster to setup or revenge Dragons, and Venusaur to sweep. Espeon just doesn't need to be a part of the equation at all. With Sun support, your team will, I think, perform much better, as right now you are weak to most rain teams.

Next, I would run Ice Shard over Razor Shell and give Cloyster a Life Orb.. People think that White Herb is the best item for Cloyster, but actually, it gains a lot mor sweeping potential if it holds a Life Orb, since each of its attacks becomes much more powerful (it's about the same difference between Flamethrower and Fire Blast). Also, since you're in the sun, Razor Shell becomes pretty useless. Ice Shard, on the other hand, gives you a way to revenge kill Landorus and setup dragons, which otherwise give your team quite a bit of trouble. It also allows you to kill Scarf Latios, which out-speeds you even at +2, and gives you a way to take down Breloom before it can hit you with Mach Punch. All in all, it suits your team better than Razor Shell. Just make sure that Scizor is gone before you try to sweep!

Finally, you're team will have a few difficulties getting past Heatran, especially since the only thing that beats him (Infernape) can't switch into Earth Power or Fire Blast more than once. I suggest changing Dark Pulse to Earthquake on Hydreigon. Earthquake is an easy OHKO on even defensive Heatran. Once he's gone, Cloyseter and Venusaur should be able to sweep unhindered.

Hope I was able to help! Good luck with the team!
