God damn you half-Japanese girls (UU Team)

Do it to me every time
The red head said you shred the cello
And I'm jello baby.

This is my new UU team, and it needs some help. Although it isn't too different from my last RMT if anyone remembers it. Lets get started.

Ninetails@Focus Sash
Flash Fire
Timid
6/0/0/252/0/252
-Flamethrower
-Energy Ball
-Hypnosis
-Nasty Plot

My lead. Ninetails is pretty speedy, and with Hypnosis and Nasty Plot plows right through a lot of Pokemon. Flamethrower for STAB. Energy Ball to hit grounds, rocks, and waters. Covering all of Ninetails weaknesses. One of the greatest leads ever. I do wanna try out a Persian lead sometime though.

sugimori326.png

Grumpig@Leftovers
Thick Fat
Calm
252/0/0/6/252/0
-Calm Mind
-Substitute
-Icy Wind
-Psychic

Grumpig is amazing. I love this guy. Comes in on a special sweeper, and sets up a Sub. Then proceeds to Calm Mind up. Ice is a great attacking type, and Icy Wind will slow my opponent down allowing me to either kill them with a boosted Psychic, or it will force a switch allowing me to Calm Mind up some more, or set up another Sub if it was broken.

Banette@Leftovers
Insomnia
Adamant
252/252/0/0/0/6
-Shadow Claw
-Thunder Wave
-Destiny Bond
-Knock Off

Banette is awesome looking, although he doesn't really do too much in battles. I wanted an Insomnia Pokemon, and since I already have a special wall Hypno and Noctowl were out. The only other two options were Ariados and Banette. Although, I could use Primeape. I might try that out actually. We'll see. Banette brings the support to the team. Shadow Claw for a strong STAB. Thunder Wave to cripple my opponent, and help Banettes poor speed. Destiny Bond when I know my opponent is going to go for the kill. Knock off to cripple my opponents even further.

Delibird@Choice Band
Hustle
Adamant
6/252/0/0/0/252
-Ice Shard
-Ice Punch
-Aerial Ace
-Brick Break

Delibird has quickly become one of my most favorite Pokemon. This set is pretty self-explanatory. Ice Shard to hit things that are faster. Ice Punch for stronger STAB. Aerial Ace for STAB, and it's ability not to miss. Brick Break to hit the steels that wall Delibirds ice attacks.

And now introducing the two newest members of my team

sugimori310.png

Manectric@Choice Specs
Static
Timid
6/0/0/252/0/252
-Thunderbolt
-Flamethrower
-Hidden Power:Ice
-Quick Attack

Manectric replaces Octillery as my Specs user. I decided I needed more speed on my team, and Manectric has always been one of my favorites. Thunderbolt for reliable STAB. Flamethrower and Hidden Power: Ice for coverage. Quick Attack to finish off Sashed and other weak Pokemon. Hopefully Static will paralyze whatever manages to take Manectric out, so my other slower guys can get the revenge kill.

sugimori195.png

Quagsire@Leftovers
Water Absorb
Impish
252/6/252/0/0/0
-Earthquake
-Waterfall/Encore
-Ice Punch
-Curse

My new physical wall replacing Aggron. I don't really like what Quagsire brings to the table. His attack stat is lackluster even after some Curses. I could put in Encore over Waterfall to force switches and get a Curse in. Earthquake is for STAB. Ice Punch for Altaria and other flying types who dodge Earthquakes. Water Absorb is a really nice ability though. Still looking for suggestions for a good physical wall.

Well that's my team. Please help it out. Are there any UU threats that just decimate this team? I'm sure there are. I'm still new to UU. I know Frosslass gives me lots of troubles.

this seems to be a pretty solid uu team although u might want to be careful of scarfed pokemon or just generally really fast ones that might carry lum berry. garchomp is something that might cause ur team trouble but then again... what team does garchomp not cause trouble for. lol... though since u have so many ice moves i think you are in the clear. however, weavile might cause your team trouble if they manage to take out ur quagsire. a set up gyarados with taunt may also cause you some problems since it is able to set up on grumpig and delibird. and if its running lum berry, then also ur paralyzers like bannete. otherwise your team seems very sold. i like it a lot 8/10

@jorge sanchez. This team is UU, and Kain gives no indication that he intends to use it against OU teams so he really doesn't have to worry about Garchomp, Weavile or Gyarados.

There are however a couple of things he might want to worry about ...

Stealth Rock

As a CBander Delibird will be switching a lot, something it can't afford to do if Stealth Rock is in play taking 50% damage on switch in. If you really want to use Delibird you must invest in a Rapid Spinner.

Swellow

Delibird's Ice Shard is your only defence against this monster, teams without a rock or steel type are just asking to get swept.

Dark type attacks

1/3 of your team (Grumpig/Banette) are weak to them, yet you have no resists. A swords dance Absol could potentially rip through your entire team ...

Status

Ninetales can absorb WoW, and Quagsire is unaffected by T-Wave, but that is it. If your sweepers are hit by T-Wave, or anyone is poisoned then you have no way of dealing with it. Toxic spikes would be a nightmare for this team too.

Hope this was of some help.

Nice team, balanced with the 4:2 role ratio. The only change I'll suggest is 'sash-ing your Banette. Aside from being slow, it can be easily beaten & with crippling movesets, most people don't welcome it lasting 2 turns. Plus, T-wave + Destiny Bond is good.

Shiny Oddish is right with SRock, but with Ninetales as a lead, it can help. This team is pretty much best for just UU/BL play with standard OU weaknesses.

Shiny Oddish: I'm not using it for OU per say, but when the UU tab is empty, I do venture on over to the ladder.

Stealth Rock is an issue. Who are some decent spinners in UU?

I used to have Aggron for Swellow, but I replaced him. I rarely see a Swellow though. Quagsire might be able to take a couple hits from him. Have to test that.

Dark and ghost slaughter this team. Frosslass in particular. I need to work around that. Suggestions?

I thought about adding Vileplume over Banette to absorb Toxic Spikes, and also heal with Aromatherapy. Stun Spore would also replace Banettes Thunder Wave. Although that would make my team more special orientated. Banette never really attacks much though. I think I will test this.

Claydol is a decent UU spinner, unfortunately, that would add to you already glaring Dark weakness. You should try Hitmontop, he's very good when used correctly and he would give you a nice Dark resist as well. I don't know what you could replace though...

Vileplume would be a good addition, I think. Try, test it, see how it works out.

Encore over waterfall for Quagsire would do good, because when your using curse and the other poke is attacking, you can just use that and keep on cursing. That way, Quagsire can become the new Clefable, only clefable mainly focuses on defense.

Zerix's susggestions for rapid spinners are as good as any ... and as s/he noted Hitmontop would provide a useful dark resist.

You've been lucky as regards Swellow, as it has been very popular recently. Whilst you are right that Quagsire can probably take a couple of hits, its lack of resistance and recovery move means it has limited duarability as a "counter".

Interestingly Probopass/Aggron (and Bastiodon but I really wouldn't recommend him) would act as both Swellow/dark resists.

Vileplume is a great addition to any team ... and as you've noted Aromatherapy and status provide great to your team. Vileplume is also prefeable to Banette as a status platform as its much sturdier.
As much as I love Banette it is, in my experience, better suited to a more offensive role, as both Rotom and Drifblim are more preferable options as ghost type status platform (the former having better resistances, the latter being more sturdy).

I could put in Encore over Waterfall to force switches and get a Curse in. Earthquake is for STAB. Ice Punch for Altaria and other flying types who dodge Earthquakes.

To be fair, you couldn't; Encore is illegal with Ice Punch.

I think Manectric can function better as a Scarfer; it would at least give you some defence against Swellow, even if it's just as a revenge killer. It would also save you using Quick Attack. Personally, I'd go something like:

Manectric, Mild nature @ Choice Scarf
160 Atk, 252 SpA, 96 Speed

- Thunderbolt
- Flamethrower/Overheat
- Hidden Power Grass/Ice
- Crunch

The speed hits 270, going up to 405 with Scarf, outspeeding most opponents. The attack EV's allow for a 2HKO on Grumpig and Hypno with SR support, as well as your best option against Rotom and Banette.

Hidden Power Grass is generally a better option than HP Ice in UU thanks to Gastrodon, Quagsire and the odd Whiscash. HP Ice is only hitting Altaria harder as Grass types are covered by Flamethrower. HP Ice is completely redundant except for Altaria and the occassional OU excursion.

I'm going to test that out Lee. You're right about HP:Grass too. Plus adding Crunch would help me out with my Frosslass and other ghosts (I'm looking at you Rotom) problems. Plus with the Scarf it would outspeed Frosslass and even outspeed other Scarf Rotoms. Thanks a lot. I'm going to test this all out later.

Plus adding Crunch would help me out with my Frosslass

Yeah, but Froslass takes much more from Flamethrower, and Drifblim takes more from Thunderbolt. Banette takes a bit more damage from Thunderbolt, but it's your best shot against Rotom. It also 2HKO's 252/0 Hypno, Lunatone and Grumpig and bypasses their Calm Minds which is the main reason for it's inclusion. It'll also help against any random Mismagius you may encounter.
