Kyurem-Black has always been a very interesting god with a monstrous attack stat, good HP and decent defences, but his status as a good god is about to change with the addition of a new item in the 9G, which will solve almost all his problems. The Loaded Dice which allows him to use his very good moves such as Icicle Spear and Scale shot, greatly reducing the randomness of these attacks and forcing them to make at least 4 to 5 hits which makes them much safer to use. This will allow KB to become a real threat in his own right, as he benefits greatly from the meta, particularly from bulky teams using Pokemons such as Clodsire, who are obliterated by Kyurem-Black. Because of his influence on the tier's meta, the council has decided to shine a light on him and make him a suspect.

Kyurem-Black is surely one of the best offensive pokemons capable of turning games on its head. It benefits enormously from its Teravolt ability, which allows it to ignore Unaware, preventing pokemons like Clodsire from dealing with it. It only has one viable set, but that's enough to make it extremely dangerous: Dragon Dance, Icicle Spear, Scale Shot and Fusion Bolt or Tera blast. This last attack will change depending on Kyurem-Black's tera, as he takes full advantage of this mechanic with several teras playable on him, such as the Fire tera, which gives him a good combo of resistances with his old type and immunity to burn, or the ground tera, which makes it easier to do damage to steel types, and also Rotom Wash, where Levitate is ignored with Teravolt. But this pokemon isn't perfect, it often needs the tera to setup himself, which makes it much harder to use, especially as if you don't have the right tera against the opposing team, it may have a few problems getting into position because of its original dual type, as well as being very weak at hasards because of its ice type and the fact that it can't really use heavy duty boots because it would become much more random to use. It also needs its item a lot and often requires a pokemon like Hatterene to block hasards, a defogger like Mandibuzz or a spinner like Great Tusk to remove them.

Requirements:

Requirements can be achieved by getting 75 GXE in 25 games on the Godly Gift ladder. In order to participate in the suspect, you must create a fresh alt (creation date no earlier than 7 June 2024) with the prefix GGKB at the start of the name. When you have obtained the reqs, make sure to post proof of your alt's record (generally a screenshot) in this thread, and if you wish to do so, you can also share your thoughts on the test here.

Voting:
Once the suspect period is over, everyone who has obtained reqs will be tagged. The post will then outline a process of blind voting, which will be clarified once the time arrives. For now, follow the above "Requirements" subheading to ensure that you have posted your reqs correctly. You must post on this thread in order to be tagged in the voting thread, however you do not need to include your vote on this thread.

A super-majority of 60% ban votes is required to ban Kyurem-Black from Godly Gift.

TL;DR:
  • Kyurem-Black is permitted on the suspect ladder
  • The GXE requirement is 75 and the minimum game count is 25
  • You must ladder on a newly-created alt using the prefix GGKB
  • You must post your reqs in this thread, though the voting process will happen in a separate thread. You are not required to state your vote in this thread.
  • The suspect test will conclude at 8pm GMT +1 on Sunday, 23th June
  • A ban vote of 60% is required to ban Kyurem-Black from Godly Gift.

yeah i know, im not proud of it either



why did this suspect test even happen? afaik theres been zero support behind this at all - it wasnt on the recent tiering survey, theres no complains of it on the thread, and unless ive missed it out, theres been basically barely or even zero complains on it in the gg channel in OMcord. this seems to just be a decision made by the council without any support from the non-council playerbase at all, which shows the lack of transparency between the council and the playerbase. other small details like the inability to mention things we think are problematic in the suspect makes it feel like the council things x mon and y mon is potentially problematic, but z mon isnt. i know my reqs post + lack of tour results make me look like some outsider, but ive been building and playing the tier relatively casually for quite a while now.

TLDR: Council needs to be more transparent.

The team RoFnA linked above was great for making reqs! I made a slight adjustment to the team, adding Unaware Clodsire to blank opposing belly drum and swords dance sweepers over the Slowbro, and then putting it in the Defense slot to go from base 60 -> base 115. Item is up for debate and it's just what you're feeling. I have Rocky Helmet in the paste in the underlined sentence to always have a failsafe against Maushold, but I also switched a fair bit with Leftovers and Heavy Duty Boots. So consider swapping to one of those items if you feel comfortable aggressively swapping in Zacian after getting Reflect up with Serp/you feel confident you can get Malamar or Greedent set up before Maus gets in. BTW Maus and Tauros will always run tera Ghost so NEVER use Superpower/Body Slam respectively into them -> ALWAYS go for knock off with both. Even if the tera is something that resists Dark, they lose crucial items they need to beat you so it's lose-lose for them. Armarouge also gets a nice buff in its spdef going in slot 5, which is more of an increase in its respective base stat than when it goes into the defense slot. Modified paste can be found here.

Did not run into a single Kyurem Black on this run, the couple I ran into yesterday were handled easily with early and aggressive setup, some good switching, and some Glare spam (cheesed quite a few games this run with it). Sorry if this was a bit of a mansplain but this was my first time playing Godly Gift so idk what's common knowledge and what isn't lmao. Thanks again RoFnA for the easy-to-pilot team!

Theoretically they canceled the vote to wait for the Kyu-B suspect

The whole thing feels like a very unprofessional farce to be honest though so I wouldn't be surprised no matter what happens.
