Good ways to test out your newly built team?

Aside from WiFi battles, what's a good way to test out your team after it's just been completed?

I've been trying to get a certain TM at Battle Tower, so I've been using 3 of my team members for that, and it seems helpful, since I'm often employing more strategy than usual (because nothing sucks more than losing to the Tycoon and getting zero BP)

I like testing my team on either.. Wi Fi, or battle tower.

Battle Tower works nicely in testing 3 guys, because the opponents there at higher levels are all EV trained, and Perfect IVed (yeah, cheap huh?).

I guess if your guys are like.. level 50, you could use the Elite Four.
Or we can all wait until Competitor is out.

There's no other way. Battling even the Tower is useless. They have no mindgames, just hax. The fact that they're properly EVed/IVed isn't helpful.

Just go to GameFAQs, Serebii's WiFi Chat, or Smogon's Battle Topic and challenge people.

Wifi battles, wifi battles, and more wifi battles.

Really, there is absolutely no substitute for battling when it comes to testing out your team. The only part that gets annoying is when you spend a while planning and making it and then it turns out to not work outside of paper, like what happened with a team of mine earlier today. So go do some wifi battles, and see if your team works as well in practice as it did on paper.

Yeah, I agree with Surgo and Firestorm, but the WiFi battle tower can be decent enough, not really to test your pokemon so much, but to get a feel for common sets people tend to slap on their pokemon... At the very least it gives you a feel for how to deal with some of the more common threats (Weavile, Garchomp, and Metagross are rampant) and can give you an innate understanding of how certain moves will affect a specific pokemon.

That's really the best you can do short of simply battling people.

WiFi Battle Tower is good, since they don't spam Double Team as often as the other challenges do (which, after the 21st win, seem to do it all of the time)

But they still don't switch or do anything remotely close to what a human would. I only tried WiFi Battle Tower once and there was a Double Team user so that DT thing isn't entirely true as well.

Wifi battle the shit out of that new team to expose it to as many scenarios, good and bad, as possible. Play with it until you lose your first match with a very low amount of hax, or until you are satisfied with the results of your labor. Although it makes me sound like a douchebag to say it, losing does teach you more than winning.

Actually, most people would agree. It's best to learn from a mistake. Scientific method, and all that jazz.

Also, firestorm, some people would prefer not to try out a team on just anyone, since it reveals your strategy and movesets to that person, who may or may not become a competitor later on in a tournament. Keeping that element of surprize can be vital, as mentioned in the topic about knowing your competative edge. A punching bag isn't the same as a human, but people still use them.

It's not a total loss if the team doesn't work - you can reuse a hell of a lot of pokemon
