I bring you my first rate my team on smogon forums. I posted this on marriland already after doing a major edit (complete redo actually) on my first team I had posted there. I have recieved good feedback so far and would love to get anymore postivie or negative comments anyone here has for my team.
Infernape (Prometheus) @ Focus Sash
Naive/Hasty (depends on what I breed) - Blaze
-Fake Out
-Stealth Rock
-Fire Blast
-Close Combat
EV: 64 Atk/252 SpA/192 Spe
My lead Prometheus is here to set up rocks to aid in sweeping by my other pokemon. Fake out disables any ideas of using a sash. Fire blast and close combat for great STAB and type coverage. Blaze will come into effect after whatever breaks the sash giving my infernape more power than he knows what to do with. All very standard and basic stuff really.
Scizor (Ares) @ Life Orb
Adamant - Technician
-Swords Dance
-Bullet Punch
-Superpower
-Roost
EV: 252 HP/252 Atk/4 Spe
With the life orb taking Ares' attack to new heights, it can easily tear through anything that switches in and is definitely able to revenge kill many with bullet punch. This major 30% boost in attack also allows maximum potential from using my move of choice in the set bullet punch, along side another stat raise from swords dance. Superpower is here to take care of scizor's main counters such as heatran or magnezone, and provides good coverage as well. Roost is what I chose to use here as it will keep Ares' HP at a respectable amount to ensure he can safely attack.
Magnezone (Zeus) @ Leftovers
Modest - Magnet Pull
- Substitute
- Thunderwave
-Thunderbolt
-HP Ice
EV: 172 Hp/252 SpA/84 Spe
I chose Zeus because of how common steel types such as skarmory are as in the metagame. With magnet pull he can keep foes such as the skarmory in and take them down. Thunderwave is to cripple my opponents and substitute is to protect it from moves such as hypnosis or explosion giving more durability. Thunderbolt for a great reliable STAB move to go hand in hand with his high special attack. HP Ice will aid in taking care of troublesome gliscor or flygon. With this set and the other members of my team the synergy between the team in general is great due to the take down of foes such as choice band scizor that prevent pokemon such as my gengar from being truly effective in battle.
Cresselia (Artemis) @ Light Clay
Bold - Levitate
-Reflect
-Light Screen
-Lunar Dance
-Ice Beam
EV: 252 HP/148 Def/40 SpD/68 Spe
With reflect and light screen I am able to help not just Artemis' defenses but my entire team which is great support that allows for better attack durability. Lunar dance is here to help out someone on my team that really needs to be back to 100% to help finish the game. Ice beam is here to have options for taunting pokemon that would otherwise keep my cresselia in check. It is also a good defense for problems such as dragons and gliscor.
Gengar (Hades) @ life orb
Timid - Levitate
-Shadow Ball
-Thunderbolt
-Focus Blast
-Protect
EV:4 Def/252 SpA/252 Spe
Nothing special here with Hades. He is just a standard gengar who's meant to provide great coverage and sweep through any team. Shadow ball is an excellent STAB move that when paired with focus blast gives complete type coverage hitting a vast amount of the current metagame hard. With thunderbolt I can take down a gyrados very easily with a guaranteed OHKO, and I can dwindle down the HP of bulky waters like suicune very well also. Protect, as suggested by Anthrix, so I can check out what opponents such as tyranitar and scizor are going to do. In addition, Anthrix pointed out I really don't need the HP Fire for steels as thunderbolt will get the job done.
Salamence (Cerberus) @ life orb
Naive - Intimidate
-Dragon Dance
-Outrage
-Earthquake
-Fire Blast
EV: 232 Atk/24 SpA/252 Spe
My ddsalamence Cerberus can truly define the role of a sweeper. With dragon dance up he can tear through many threats with either a STAB outrage, earthquake or fire blast. Fire blast is here to deal with steel types like skarmory and forretress that don't take much from earthquake, it also OHKO'ss scizor which is great. Outrage is absolutely perfect for this set because the bonuses from it being a STAB move, life orb and just a single dragon dance will allow Cerberus to at the very least 2HKOing nearly all pokemon available in the OU tier, including steel types that have resistance to it. Earthquake is to deal with steels that resist the outrage and need a bit more punch, and it is here for when it's not the best decision for me to use outrage.
That is it everyone. If you read it please rate it. Any feedback you have will help.
