Hi! I am here to introduce one of our yearly official tournaments, the Smogon Grand Slam! The format will be the same as last year's, which means that Ubers, UU, RU, NU, and LC will all be included in the competition for the coveted turquoise Trophy.

The format consists of five separate tournaments: The Ubers Open, The UU Open, The RU Open, The NU Open, and the LC Open. Depending on your performance in each Open, you will be awarded points. The point system is the same as the one used in Smogon Tour, Smogon Classic and previous years of Smogon Grand Slam (see this for further explanation). When all the Opens have been finished, the sixteen players with the most points will qualify for playoffs. There the battlers will duke it out in a single elimination best-of-five series until there is one Grand Slam champion.

Signups for each Open will be posted after the first round of the previous Open is completed. The hosts are allowed to play in the tournament that they are administering, as long as they elect someone else to create pairings. Here is the list of the five Opens and the dates each signups will be posted:
  • The UU Open - Hosted by Eyan - June 25th
  • The RU Open - Hosted by Nat - July 1st
  • The NU Open - Hosted by Kiyo - July 1st
  • The LC Open - Hosted by OP - July 8th
  • The Ubers Open - Hosted by perry - July 8th
If a tier shift happens to occur during a round, it will not be taken into account until the following round. Please also keep in mind that this tournament is entirely SM and does not include metagames from past generations.

Be sure to join the Smogon Tournaments Discord server, if you have any questions or wish to ask a host about a decision. A huge thanks goes out to perry for maintaining the standings spreadsheet this year. If you notice a mistake in there, let one of the TDs or perry know please! The sheet can be found directly below.

Each individual open will have its own sign up thread. To join one of the opens, all you have to do is simply type "in", in the given sign up thread. If you wish to be alerted when a new thread goes up, go to Competitive Play and click "watch". You will then be able to choose how you want to be alerted whenever a new thread goes up. You will be able to choose between getting a notification on forums (the bell in the top right corner) or via email. Whenever a new thread gets created, this notification will automatically get sent to you, and thus you will not miss out on any of the sign ups for the tours you may want to join.
