Greninja [QC 2/2] [GP 0/2]

I think I've edited it enough, i have bee meaning to do this for ages but editing is easily my weakest point, I understand critique while writing, but editing it puzzles me :S i won't put the 1/2 until I have been told i have done it right,

I terms of formatting, it looks good! :) Just make sure you put "###" under your "Other Options" and "Checks & Counters" section, not "=====" (Which are only used for Moves, Set Details, Usage Tips, and Team Options) You also might want to expand on you team options a bit more, since you only have one line for them. Otherwise, looks nice formatting wise :)

Also the formatting for the stats is wrong, but its ok - all of us start somewhere. The stats are abbreviated as follows:
  • HP = Hit Points
  • Atk = Attack
  • Def = Defense
  • SpA = Special Attack
  • SpD = Special Defense
  • Spe = Speed
and they are placed in this order:

HP / Atk / Def / SpA / SpD / Spe

Outside of that, the formatting is alright. Implement the formatting changes given by me LightningLuxray and the formatting is good.

I've tried expanding on team options as much as possible, but it's kinda hard with greninja to say that he will fit into most teams, it would be easier to actually say what he doesn't fit in due to how little he doesn't fit in...

Greninja

(Take away this picture and caption and move it above the "Overview" part)
Greninja is an insanely fun Pokemon to use, with access to Protean and a wide array of tricks for its move set. He It isn't the strongest Pokemon but with some technique he it can run circles around a lot (Add space) of the (cast -- Cast? what do you mean by this?)

Pros:
--Very fast Pok
émon (Remove accent) that will out speed a lot of today's threats.
--Has access to
Protean, one of the best offensive abilities in the game for the offensive game.
--Great move pool to abuse
combined with Protean for to keeping the opponent guessing.

Cons:
--Not much in the way of damage without help.
--Loses to priority.
--No bulk to speak of at all, you will
usually die lose to anything in one hit usually.

(You might want to rethink how you set this whole part out ^)

name: Special
Attacker set
move 1: Hydro Pump
move 2: Ice Beam
move 3 :Dark Pulse
move 4: Protect
ability: Protean
item: Life Orb / Focus Sash
(Add space)
EV's: 4 HP, / 252 Special Attack, / 252 Speed, (Replace comma with slash)
nature: Timid

Moves
========
--Hydro pump is your preferred
STAB move of choice for water. If you do not like the accuracy loss, you can take Scald with the lack of power Scald can also be used, as it has perfect accuracy and a high chance to burn, but with a severe loss of power. Surf is the least preferred, as although it may have more base power than Scald, it hits both opponents, lowering the overall damage of it - but because it hits both targets surf suffers a power loss, something Greninja can't afford. (If you're going to include this shouldn't you slash Scald and Surf with Hydro?)
--Ice beam is the Ice-type move of choice go to ice move, with Blizzard also being a valid move if used in a hail team. This will handle all those mean nasty dragons that may harm the rest of your team if unchecked. Both moves will handle any Dragon-types that may threaten Greninja or its team.
--Dark pulse is your neutral move of choice used for coverage, with Greninja's high Speed and high Dark Pulse's flinch chance you can often beat a Pokémon (Remove accent) with luck and a dark pulse flinch.
--The last move is
up to choice preferential:, (RC, add colon) Grass Knot takes down a lot of annoying heavy Pokémon (Remove accent) like Tyranitar (I don't see how Tyranitar is a good example considering Greninja is a Water-type) or bulky Water-type Pokémon (Remove accent) like Gyarados or Vaporeon. U-turn is an eject move that lets you get the tiniest amount of damage is a viable move option with Greninja's high Speed, allowing it to be an excellent pivot and create momentum for your team, whereas and Extrasensory being can be abused with Greninja's Protean ability, and can check Fighting-types. a decent damage psychic move to quickly gain the psychic type or to check a fighting type (Either you need to delete this whole point, add in U-turn and Extrasensory in the actual set, or maybe move it into OO. I made changes to it anyway.)

Set Details
========

--EVs are self explanatory,: (RC, add colon) maximum Speed and maximum Special Attack to make Greninja as fast and powerful as possible for the most oomph, while the the 4 EVs leftover can go anywhere.
--With Timid you will be out speeding most of the (cast) -- (I still don't get what you mean by cast) with a base 122 Speed
--
As for items, the Life Orb is the better of the 3 three item options (There's two options, maybe you forget to add the third one?) for a big damage boost for at the cost of a 10% life drop, but with Greninja you want to make the game as short as possible. Focus Sash will protect Greninja from OHKOs, which is needed as Greninja has very low defenses. for 1 hit with greninja allowing it to have a chance with its low defences. The Expert Belt can increase damage from Greninja's super effective attacks, which is helpful with Greninja's large amount of coverage. take Life Orb's place if you have the Life Orb on another Pokémon, it will still give you a nice damage boost, but on the neutral game you will feel the hurt of not having the boost.

Usage Tips
========

--This Pokémon is really about super effective hits.
--Greninja has a wide range of coverage moves, (AC) most of which can be used to your advantage with Protean, for example: you could use Extrasensory so that Fighting-type moves will be not very effective, rather than super effective. , with protean you can take this to the next level as a guessing game and use them to create immunities (dark pulse turns dark to be immune to psychic type moves, etc)
--In conjunction with the last point, you can trade hydro pump for a different move for coverage, this isn't recommended as you lose he power of hydro pump, but you can fit Greninja in as a full coverage Pokemon (This goes in either OO or Moves)

Team Options
========

--You want a damage Pokémon (What exactly is a damage Pokemon?) to be beside Greninja more often than not. And any Greninja's best friend involves Some of these Pokemon include Mega Kangaskhan, Mega Mawile, or Choice Band Talonflame. This Pokémon fits into any Meta team built on damage, and with excellent cover options, it is always welcome.
--With his its wide move pool, Greninja can cover almost any beginner's team,. (RC, add period) Greninja is an amazing Pokemon to start learning competitive with.
--Greninja can fit in a hail team quite nicely with access to Blizzard, which with Protean becomes an Ice-type which will also give it an immunity to hail. (Add hyphen) and immune to Hail, as well as Blizzard never missing in Hail.
--In terms of team placement just remember, while Greninja can fill a niche on any team, but without super effective hits Greninja is average at best.

Other Options
########

--You can take use Mat Block is usable, being a great move in VGC, but if you want, it's a great move in doubles, just remember it doesn't have priority, so a Bullet Punch, Extreme Speed, or Gale Wings Brave Bird will all get around it. However, due to the fact it protects your partner it is worth more than a mention. You can only use Mat Block on the first turn Greninja is on the battlefield, be it starting or switching in. this means it can be used multiple times on the switch in turns like Fake Out, so you can go that way with a slow Volt Switch or U-Turn from a pokemon on your team.
--Taunt is a valid move but can cost you a turn that you don't want to use,; (RC, add semi-colon) only have Taunt if you don't have another Pokémon (Remove accent) on your team that can prevent hazards. If using Taunt, it's best to have a Pokemon that can support it in some way, as Greninja is significantly more vulnerable with one less attacking move. that can learn Taunt, but it is always valid and can be a great choice. Just remember a Greninja that is not attacking is an open Greninja so have something to protect it.
--Hidden Power Fire or Grass are both viable, with Hidden Power Grass hitting Rotom-W more powerfully than Grass Knot. is the last viable move for slot 4, Hidden Power Grass is better than grass knot because of Rotom-W popularity
--Other than that aim for super effective hits, and a teammate that can finish a more bulky Pokémon off that Greninja will not kill in one hit. (This doesn't belong in OO)
--The Expert Belt can take Life Orb's place if you have the Life Orb on another Pokémon, it will still give you a nice damage boost, but on the neutral game you will feel the hurt of not having the boost. (You've already mentioned Expert Belt in Set Details)

Checks & Counters
########

--Rotom-W can pretty much take everything Greninja can throw at it and use Greninja's lack of bulk to pretty much, (RC) kill it off,. (RC, add period) in the same respect you are going to out speed it and hope to god for a Dark Pulse flinch The only real chance Greninja has is a weak Grass Knot or Hidden Power Grass, or a lucky flinch with Dark Pulse. It is going to take at least two hits so Life Orb will take you down considerably just for this Pokémon. Grass knot will only be base power 20 so it will not do much.
--Choice Band Talonflame with Gale Wings is always going to OHK.O. (Remove periods) Greninja in one hit with Brave Bird, although if Talonflame does not go for you then it will die to one Hydro Pump. but will only come in if given a free switch-in. If Greninja is at full health and carrying a Focus Sash, then Brave Bird will not OHKO it and Greninja can safely Hydro Pump.
Focus Sash will counter Talonflame at full health as 1 hydro pump will kill Talonflame
--Mega Kangaskhan will usually devastate Greninja, as it can deal extreme amounts of damage with Parental Bond and Greninja's low defenses. since it can will survive an attack or 2. and has the attack to damage greninja heavily and kill in 1 turn due to parental bond. although greninja can get in some nice chip damage on it
--Mega Mawile hard counters checks Greninja, with play Rough OHKOing Greninja. due to typing and nice defenses, Play Rough will K.O in 1 hit even if not super effective
--Fighting types are pretty solid against Greninja, like Conkeldurr, Scrafty, and even Lucario. They can usually take a hit and retaliate back with a KO or threaten with priority. (Worth mentioning that Greninja can use Extrasensory for situations like this)
--Drain abilities like Storm Drain although rare are something to watch out for, if you suspect something has Storm Drain don't even think about using Hydro Pump, it will only help your opponent out. the only time to use Hydro Pump in this situation is to scout the ability out (To be honest this isn't really a check or a counter, but up to QC I guess)
(C&C is meant to look like this:
**Pokemon 1**: [how it checks or counters Greninja]
**Pokemon 2**: [how it checks or counters Greninja]
etc...)
There was quite a lot of mistakes here - keep in mind that Pokemon does not need an accent, and be careful with your wording and the relevance of what you're saying. You might want to check out the Spelling and Grammar Standards, and there's also some cool stuff online you can have a look at. I really think it's important that you get rid of this dot point form thing, and elaborate on what you're saying.
Gonna tag GatoDelFuego again. (Please don't implement this until it has been stamped).

Actually, gonna tag Calm Pokemaster since he's online

Sorry I had 3 items at first, I've been having to edit off phone, which isn't great for a first time article, but atleast once this article is finished I can see the formatting a bit better.

I'll write this check down tomorrow as I have access to a laptop tomorrow to get everything right first time.

Your correcting has given me a lot of insight into how I was getting formatting wrong due to me being dumb trying to understand the topic on it. I am better at going through a process than reading about it.

Still reading your changes and the Tyranitar mention was me not adding what was in my head, with Hydro Pump and Scald doing less damage than Grass Knot. But Hydro Pump will still 2 hit ko. Scald can sometimes take 3 turns.

So with that I thank you

There are two major problems with this:
  • This set looks very 'singlesy'. Greninja basically needs protect in doubles as it is frail to the point where it can simply be double targeted with prioroty (or any attack), and Fake Out completely screws it over - breaking its sash, flinching it and not letting it change type - meaning that the ability to block that is basically required.
  • Surf is kinda bad on it. Here's the quote:
surf sucks for greninja in vgc doubles, his job is to take out single opponents, he doesn't have the power to dual ko pokemon even if super effective usually, it can be useful but targeting is greninjas ally
Jowyatriedes I would probably slash Extrasensory in alongside Dark Pulse on the set so as to not be completely walled by Azumarill.

Um...isn't this suppose to be written out in paragraph form, not still in a skeleton?? Or is that not a thing in VGC?

Uh yea. This should be written up before it is critiqued by the GP team.

This kind of follows the same issue that the set you posted for Garchomp had. Firstly, you should read what had been said before as Surf was already mentioned and it seems to me that all you did was copy-paste the singles set for Greninja(Other than Surf obviously).

Taking over Greninja, OP hasn't made a post in more than a month. It's also still in skeleton form... among other problems x:
