Grimmsnarl

Grimmsnarl is a very solid pick on screens hyper offense teams, with the access of Prankster screens or Thunder Wave. Its Bulk is quite exceptional having a base 95 HP alongside a base 65 DEF/75 Sp DEF. Having Dark/Fairy typing is a rather unique combo, resisting or being immune to a certain extent of relevant mons. Resisting moves like MLop CC, Cinderace HJK or being immune to Outrage or Draco just to list a few examples is a solid quality.

Grimmsnarl @ Light Clay
Ability: Prankster
EVs: 252 HP/4 DEF/252 Sp DEF
Careful nature
-Reflect
-Light Screen
-Thunder Wave/Taunt
-Spirit Break

Albeit a very solid and reliable pick on the aforementioned Screens HO teams in particular, Grimmsnarl does have some competition for defensive Fairy types. The main two competitors that come to find include Clefable and Tapu Fini to some extent. These two usually end up fitting better on bulky offense teams, mainly because of these two mons having higher all around bulk. Even despite this, it has some defensive utility and a versatile movepool to compliment it.

An alternative moveset that can really assist against a mon especially if you know they are a choice locked one utilizes Torment. This was something that was recently brought to light and can also serve a huge purpose against set up sweepers.

Grimmsnarl @ Leftovers
Ability: Prankster
80 HP/252 DEF/176 Speed
Impish nature
-Thunder Wave
-Torment
-Spirit Break
-Darkest Lariat

The 80 HP in conjunction with 252 DEF allows it to tank a Fishous Rend from Adamant Band Dracovish. This along with taking a +1 Pyro Ball from Cinderace can be crucial. Torment also forces switches out on mons that normally want to stay healthy via Roost/Soft-Boiled such as:

-Corviknight
-Kyurem
-Zapdos
-MSciz
-Clefable
-Blissey

Torment also plays a role in shutting down choice locked users, such as Dracovish or Scarf Landorus-Therian to name a couple. This particular set is still a work in progress and will be updated when more information is available for it.

Grimmsnarl is an under explored mon as a whole that can provide a unique role with the right support. As a matter of mons to use it with, in particular the second set is Dragapult with Electrium Z. Electric Z Pult helps lure in mons like Fini, Bro or other bulky waters. Wisp on the set gives you another way to handle insanely powerful physical attackers, including the aforementioned Vish, MSciz, MMaw, Rilla etc. Spell Tag in tandem with Hex is another viable option that works well with the set. Having extra insurance with Wisp on it is also vital in case you are unable to find an opportunity to go for a Thunder Wave.
