[GROUND] Leader Its_A_Random vs. Dummy007

The Rules said:
4v4 Singles (Leader brings 7, chooses 4)
3 Day Player DQ Time
∞ Recoveries/∞ Chills per Pokémon
3 Substitutions
Switch = OK
Abilities = ALL
Items = ON; No "Training Items" Permitted
Mega Evolutions = ZERO
Turn Order = Coin-Flip
Arena = Ground Gym
Arena: Ground Gym
Field Type
: Ground
Complexity: Intense
Format: All

Restrictions: No Natural Grass, No External Water Source, Only Sandstorm & Clear weather permitted, Indoor Arena

Description: TBD

Mechanics:
  • Nature Power calls Land's Wrath. Secret Power has a 30% chance to lower the foe's Speed by 1 Stage.
  • The mixture of sand & dirt makes Dig easier to execute & gain height on attack, reducing its Energy cost by 2, & enabling the user to hit a target under the effects of Levitate/Magnet Rise/Telekinesis irrespective of Size Class.
  • Pokémon cannot have their typing altered through any means, while Double Team & Illusion have no effect. The lights in the arena shine brightly enough to expose the disguises a Pokémon may have.
  • Grassy Terrain's duration is halved. The sand-dirt mixture does not really allow for grass to grow, making it wilt very quickly.
  • Sandstorm when summoned lasts for five rounds as opposed to four (eight with a Smooth Rock). The sand on the arena floor provides enough fuel for a Sandstorm to last longer.
Summary: Another Ground-type Gym I guess?

Welcome one, welcome all. Welcome to the ground gym, which holds the honor of being the only gym arena with no flavor! Quite a reputation if you ask me.

Anyway, it looks like our first contestant is coming out on the field, so let's go meet him! Ground Gym Leader Its_A_Random has arrived first, and with a powerful squad of pokemon if you ask me. Pay special attention to King Odin the Nidoking, as it can beat every member of the challenger's squad except one.

And here comes our challenger! He is determined but sad, coming off a loss against another excellent gym leader but one who had a more broken arena imho. Pay special attention to Dobby the Krillowatt because it beats the aforementioned Nidoking despite being ground weak in the ground gym lol.

Whimsicott [Ron] (M)
Nature: Timid (+15% Speed, +20% Accuracy, -1 Atk)
Typing: Grass/Fairy
Grass: Grass STAB; immunity to Leech Seed, Worry Seed, and all "Powder" based attacks (Poison Powder, Powder, Rage Powder, Sleep Powder, Spore, Stun Spore). Unable to have Petal Dance disrupted by oncoming damage. Ignores Arena restrictions on Grass attacks requiring an external grass source. Bloom Command.
Bloom Command: For the next six (6) actions, this Pokemon's "Grass," "Powder," and "Seed" status-moves will have fifteen (15) added points to their Base Accuracy (e.g. Grass Whistle goes from 55 Base Acc to 70 Base Acc). Type Exclusive commands can only be used by Pokemon that are naturally that type, and are still available if the Pokemon changes type.
Command Type: Type Exclusive | Accuracy: -- | Energy Cost: 5 | Priority: 0 | CT: None

Abilities:
Prankster:
This Pokemon is always prepared for engaging in sneaky tactics and trickery, giving its non-damaging moves a +1 increase in priority level. (Passive)
Infiltrator: Through a combination of speed and cunning, this Pokemon easily circumvents the effects of Light Screen, Mist, Reflect, Safeguard, and Substitute with all of its attacks. (Passive)
Chlorophyll (HA-Unlocked): During bright sunlight, this Pokemon's cells absorb more solar energy, doubling (x2) its speed. (Passive)

When entering into battle, this Pokemon can copy an ability on one of its opponents for 6 EN. This effect only triggers if the ability to be copied is specified when the Pokemon is sent out. The ability remains on the Pokemon for six (6) actions. Wonder Guard cannot be Traced. (Trigger)
Activate Trace <Ability> Command: Replaces Trace with the target Ability for six (6) actions. When the copied ability fades, the user regains Trace.
Command Type: Ability Based | Accuracy: -- | Energy Cost: 5 | Priority: 0 | CT: None
Magic Guard: This Pokemon is infused with a powerful psycho-electric energy that makes it immune to damage from Spikes, Stealth Rock, Hail, Sandstorm, Leech Seed, Poisoning, and Burn. It can still attack itself in confusion but will not take any damage from it. Additionally, the energy protects the Pokemon from its own reckless recoil attacks. Toxic still increases in damage each round, although if Magic Guard is in effect the Pokemon will not suffer any damage. Life Orb recoil is not negated. (Passive)

"I guess I am the one on Pole Position today. Alright then Utilitand, you will be the one to take the car for this first stint!"

Utilitand (M) @ Mental Herb

"You seem quite driven (*chuckle*) to win, IAR. Promise me a good match and I'll promise you the same! (Also, none of my Pokemon know Telekinesis, so you're safe there, lol.) Our opening strategy will be full aggro with Dobby @ Life Orb!"

SENDOUT: Trace [Prankster]
Scald -> Muddy Water -> Hydro Pump
If Utilitand uses a P/E move, Chill and push actions back
If Utilitand has Double Team clones up when you are to attack, change that action to Surf

Data:
Pre-Round: Its_A_Random sent out Utilitand (Fidgit) @ Mental Herb.
Dummy007 sent out Dobby (Krilowatt) @ Life Orb.
Dobby traced Prankster. -6 EN

Action 1: Utilitand used Light Screen. -10 EN
Dobby used Scald. Crit: 8148 No. Damage: (4 + 3 + 3 + 4.5 - 4.5) * 1.5 = 15. Effect: 2277 Yes. -5 EN
Utilitand took 2 damage from burn.

Action 2: Dobby used Muddy Water. Hit: 7553 Yes. Crit: 3921 No. Damage: (4.5 + 3 + 3 + 4.5 - 4.5) * 1.5 = 15.75. Effect: 3797 No. -6 EN
Utilitand used Knock Off. Damage: 10 + 4.5 - 4.5 - 3 = 7. -7 EN
Utilitand took 2 damage from burn.

Action 3: Dobby used Hydro Pump. Hit: 9704 No. -7 EN
Utilitand used U-Turn. Damage: 7 + 4.5 - 4.5 - 3 = 4. -5 EN
Utilitand took 2 damage from burn.

Post-Round: Utilitand was sent back to Its_A_Random's Pokéball.

Flavor:
And so we start the first round! Leader Its_A_Random, first to send out, chooses Utilitand the Fidgit, who Dummy counters with Dobby the Krilowatt, and with a new and improved Life Orb, too! Before the fight starts, Dobby traces Utilitand's Prankster. Utilitand then leads off by creating a screen of light, shielding himself from some of Dobby's attacks. Dobby responds with a scalding hot burst of water. In fact, it is so hot that it burns Utilitand! Dobby follows up with some Muddy Water, but Utilitand ignores it, going on the offensive by knocking off Dobby's Life Orb. Dobby responds with a powerful Hydro Pump, but Utilitand is quick; he dodges it as he runs at Dobby and in a sudden U-Turn returns to his Pokéball. We'll see what the next round has to offer, after this message from our sponsors.

Post-Round:

HP 63 | 83 EN
3/4/3/3/105

Item: Mental Herb (3)

Krilowatt should have Prankster for three more actions. Krilowatt cannot be struck by a critical hit by virtue of its Shell Armour Ability.

"I guess we should start to set the pace. Sleast @ Rare Candy, go forth & set the pace for the race!"

Mud Bomb > Mud-Slap > Mud Bomb
IF
Mirror Coat is used, THEN use Earthquake that action, pushing actions back.
IF Krilowatt is in the invulnerable stages of Dive when you act, THEN use Surf that action, pushing actions back.

"This is not your fight, Dobby. Cripple it this round and we'll send in someone better equipped next."

Confuse Ray -> Toxic -> Blizzard
If you are at -1 Acc or lower, change your next action to Heart Swap and push actions back

Utilitand takes a u-turn out into a much more favorable matchup, and then Sleast shows the challenger his folly of bringing an electric-type to the ground gym! Dobby tries some trickery to stay afloat, but still takes significant damage.

"Okay King Odin @ Life Orb, take the helm!"

Switch Phase: Sleast > King Odin

[Toggle Sheer Force ON] Sludge Wave > Sludge Bomb > Sludge Wave
IF
(Non-Combo) Dive is used without suspense, THEN use Dig that action.
IF Protect is used successfully, THEN use Stealth Rock on the first instance.

After some quick switching from both parties, a completely new matchup arises of two of the battler's most important Pokemon - Ludicolo and Nidoking. Due to some careful trickery, Dummy007's Beetle acrues a slight advantage, but with Fake Out down that lead will be closing fast...who can tell what will happen next in this close match?

Rivalry does not trigger on confusion also the no life orb recoil thing for using a mon with sheer force on and using a sheer force boosted move needs to be factored.

"I apologize for falling behind. I'm not familiar with the layout of this track. Nonetheless, I will step up the pace, both in my ordering and my actions!"

Mud-Slap -> Surf -> Hydro Pump
If King Odin uses a P/E move, Chill the first time, use Synthesis the second time, and Chill the third time and push actions back
If King Odin uses Disable [Surf], replace that action with Scald
If King Odin uses Poison Jab, change that action to Counter

Sludge Wave deals 27.75 Damage actually.

"You know the more you rely on degenerate strategies, the more likely you will find yourself black flagged! Dispose of this Ludicolo at once!"

Poison Jab > Poison Sting + Poison Jab combo > N/A (Poison Jab)

Round 4!

Guess who doesn't know Poison Sting?

And the strange thing is that Nidoran gets that by level up before lvl 25 ._.

But I guess I should go with posted Movepools soooooo.....this ends in a way probably not expected. Not enough to turn a victory into a defeat, but it makes some difference.

Nidoking used Struggle! (-5en)
NOTE: IAR should look at movepools before ordering 8)

"Utilitand, return!"

Sludge Wave > Sludge Wave > Sludge Wave
IF
Endure is used, THEN on the first instance only, begin action string: Encore > Sludge Wave > Sandstorm.
IF (Non-Combo) Dive is used, THEN use Gastro Acid on the first instance.
IF Dive (Suspend) is issued, THEN use Sticky Web on the first instance, Spikes on the second instance.

Round 5!

Ludicolo managed to get in a crucial Hydro Pump before fainting to Fidgit's Sludge Wave. Not much else to say here.

The challenger has a significant hp advantage, but he did lose the most threatening pokemon (ludicolo). And the leader is the leader for a really so this is still really far from decided.

even though the arena isn't doing any favors

Ludicolo used Hydro Pump! (-7en)

"It seems we hold the lead for now, but the race is far from over. Neville @ Rare Candy, let's pick up some more speed!"

Dig -> Drill Run -> Earth Power
If Utilitand uses a P/E move, change that action to Mud Bomb and push actions back
If Utilitand uses a damaging Ice-typed combo, change that action to Dig
If Utilitand uses a Switch-Forcing Move, change that action to Dragon Tail and push actions back

Round 6!

Fidgit is facing a Colossoil on a neutral arena. While burned. And with 38hp.

Do I really need to say what happened?

Well at least it got rid of colossoil's item.

The Leader is on a tough pickle. He has the mons to win though (although a poison type vs whimsicott would be golden, but anything with poison jab will do haha), but Gastrodon will need to pull some serious weight here.

glhf.

"Better to avoid having my last choice taken away... Go Frostbite @ Rare Candy!"

Icicle Crash > Icicle Spear > Icicle Crash
IF
(Non-Combo) (Damaging Evasive Move) is used, THEN use Dig that action.
IF (Damaging Fighting Combo) is used, AND you are not Taunted, THEN use Substitute (15 HP) that action.
IF (Damaging Fighting Combo) is used, THEN use Dig that action.
