Henlo gamers ٩(๑•◡-๑)۶ Welcome to Round 5 of the GSC Cup!

Tournament Rules:
  • General tournament rules and regulations can be found here.
  • Classic rules can be found here.
  • Standard GSC OU.
  • Best-of-three, single elimination.
  • Battles should take place on Pokemon Showdown!
Identity

About playing on alts: It is entirely allowed to play on an alt other than your own main forum name, though if your opponent wishes to confirm your identity, you must log on to your main alt to show them you are who you claim to be. This is to prevent people from pretending to be who they're not.

About playing on different servers: Tournament matches must be played on the Smogtours server. The Main PS! server is also acceptable if both parties agree to that. Other servers are not sanctioned by the TD team and playing in them might result in your game not counting. Protect yourself from that by playing in Smogtours, where we also have the power to recreate games that end due to DC's.

Scouting

On scouting opponents: Going through your opponents replays of tournament and ladder games is entirely allowed, as long as a game is public there is nothing preventing you from watching it. An exception to this is abusing powers granted to you by being staff on Smogon or PS! to gain access to information a normal user wouldn't have access to, which is strictly forbidden.

On leaking teams: Divulging private information about someone's planned team to their opponent is never allowed, and will be heavily sanctioned. Requesting that such information be divulged is also grounds for punishment. Keep your scouting to publicly available information and you'll be fine.

Timer Clause / Disconnections

On the Timer: The timer must stay on throughout the whole battle, not to be turned off even in the case of a player disconnecting as we now have a separate disconnection timer (more details here). The timer may not be turned off in any circumstance.

On Timeout losses: A player that loses by having all his time run out loses the game. This is only not the case if the player that received the timeout loss can be verified to have suffered a True Disconnection. Rematches in such cases are not allowed.

On True Disconnection: The TD team has a secret threshold of seconds that your timer must be at or above, from the moment you disconnect, for a timeout loss to be considered a True Disconnection. If your game is determined to be a True Disconnection if you played on Smogtours and contacted a TD before the room expired your game will be recreated up to the point the disconnect happened. It is the responsibility of the player that disconnected to get a TD into the room before it expires.
Battle Clauses:
  • Evasion Clause
  • OHKO Clause
  • Sleep Clause
  • Species Clause
  • Timed Battle
  • Freeze Clause
  • Sleep Trap Clause: Pokemon can't have (Sing/Sleep Powder/Hypnosis/Lovely Kiss/Spore) + (Mean Look/Spider Web) in the same moveset
Feel free to contact me or a tournament director if you have any questions regarding this tournament (or Classic in general).

Predicts for the rest of the series bc why not
Exiline  vs  Rubyblood - Hes been solid in gsc for a while now and been getting better and better while ive no idea about exiline gsc.

spies  vs  (PDC vs TonyFlygon) - Two tough opps but tony has been consistent as f*ck in gsc cup and gsc overall, should be good series.

Altina  vs  ninjadog - P sure Altina is more experienced in old gens overall and has beaten some tough opps to get here, so giving Altina the edge.

Fear  vs  D4 Repertoire - D4 has been kind of a gsc prodigy doing well in gsc tournaments, but still don't think that's enough to bold him over Fear, who i'd guess has some motivation to get this tour after a spl that went worse than what everyone expected, i believe he can make it far in this tour.

HSA  vs  (TC vs Malekith) - TC has been good in gsc for a while now, had an ok spl and if he gets some motivation to play i think could keep going in here. However, both of his opponents are really solid in gsc so both rounds are highlights no matter who wins lol

MichaelderBeste2  vs  watashi - Not familiar with either's GSC but watashi has more experience overall so going with that

Predicts for the rest of the series bc why not
Exiline (45) vs  Rubyblood (55) - Ive seen him playing some gsc recently, so he quite knows the meta. Idk how exiline plays the tier so I cant really give a big edge in this one.

spies (35) vs  (PDC (40) vs TonyFlygon (60)) (65) - Tony is pretty good in the tier, I think him or ziloxx will be the winner of this cup. The opps are solid tho, so it wont be easy to pass through them, but with solid gameplay he might do it.

Altina (55) vs  ninjadog (45) - I think none of them plays gsc regularly, but altina eliminated me is known for playing old gens so gotta bold him

Fear (49) vs  D4 Repertoire (51) - Ok this is really a hl match. Fear may have not come from his better spl, but we all know what he is capable for and is one of the best players in the tier. However, it seems imposible to me to bold against lavos, prolly the best gsc player of all time. Looking forward to seeing this.

HSA (45)  vs  (TC (49) vs Malekith (51)) (55) - TC is a decent player, but he spams the same playstyles and there is a big difference of him being comfy when using them or not. For that reason, if his opps take this into account, it can be abused.

MichaelDerBeste2 (55)  vs  watashi (45) - Watashi is not bad, but Michael is the best (2).
