Old Gens [GSC OU] Quagsire

Iguana

formerly mc56556
Quagsire @ Leftovers
Ability: none
DVs: 22 HP / 26 Atk / 24 Def
- Belly Drum
- Earthquake
- Hidden Power [Rock]
- Rest

Behold, the ever-smiling Quagsire! What lies underneath its unintimidating appearance is an effectiveness in the metagame. To start, Quagsire's typing is valuable in GSC, having no physical weaknesses and only Grass as a special weakness. Quagsire is an effective Electric-immune Pokemon on GSC OU stall teams, given how it is the sole Ground-type that avoids super effective damage from both Hidden Power Ice and Water—the most common coverage moves on Electric-types like Zapdos and Raikou. What distinguishes Quagsire from other stall options is its ability to provide an offensive presence with Belly Drum, although it needs to successfully set up to threaten foes due to its low offensive stats. Besides walling Electric-types, Quagsire can also check and threaten other offensive threats, including Gengar and Tyranitar. For Quagsire to best achieve all of this, support is useful. Heal Bell Miltank reduces sleep turns for Quagsire when using Rest, and partners like Thunder Wave Starmie and Body Slam Snorlax spread paralysis. Try the happy Water / Ground type out and see how effective it can be!

What distinguishes Quagsire from other special walls is its ability to generate offense for stall teams. Belly Drum enables this
There is Belly Drum Snorlax as special wall so in that regard Quagsire hasn't the sole niche but to me this sentence makes it sound like it. It also should be made clear that Quagsire's special walling abilities come from its typing and that unlike actual special walls can't wall special attackers that hit it neutrally with STAB (Jynx, Alakazam, Vaporeon, Starmie etc.).

However, for Quagsire to achieve all this, it requires support.
What kind of supoort does it need? I think Quagsire is decently self-functioning and doesn't require much more support than other pokemon. Still, it is a good idea to talk about good synergies (e.g. Heal Bell, para spread)

Additional considerations include adding checks to Pokemon that both threaten Quagsire and are unthreatened by it, like Exeggutor and Vaporeon.
I think this could be misleading as for example Raikou could both but has to my knowledge basically never been used alongside it, due to Zapdos being preferred. Maybe give some examples or just leave it out.

Behold, the ever-smiling Quagsire! What lies underneath its unintimidating appearance belies is an effectiveness in the metagame. To start, Quagsire's typing is valuable in GSC,(AC) in that it has having no physical weaknesses in GSC and only Grass-(RH)type as a special weakness. Quagsire is an effective Electric-absorber Electric-immune Pokemon on GSC OU stall teams, given how it is the sole Ground-type that avoids super effective damage from both Hidden Power Ice and Water—(double dash into em dash)the most common coverage moves on Electric-types like Zapdos and Raikou. What distinguishes Quagsire from other stall options is its ability to generate offense. Belly Drum enables this, and the payoff can be substantial; however, Quagsire struggles to threaten without the Belly Drum boost, given its low offensive base stats compared to other Pokemon in the tier. What distinguishes Quagsire from other stall options is its ability to provide an offensive presence with Belly Drum, although it needs to successfully set up to threaten foes due to its low offensive stats.("generate offense" is a weird term. We usually use generate with something like momentum or pressure.) Besides walling Electric-types, Quagsire can also check and threaten other offensive threats, including Gengar and Tyranitar. For Quagsire to best achieve all of this, though,(RC) support is useful. Pokemon with Heal Bell like Miltank can synergize well with Quagsire, as otherwise it has to burn Rest turns, and the same goes for paralysis spreaders like Thunder Wave Starmie or Body Slam Snorlax. Heal Bell Miltank reduces sleep turns for Quagsire when using Rest, and partners like Thunder Wave Starmie and Body Slam Snorlax spread paralysis. Try the happy Water- and Ground-type Water / Ground type out sometime and see how effective it can be!

GP 1/1. Lmk if you disagree with some of the changes. There is a decent chunk of filler language, so I trimmed it down.
