Taking a quick look at usage trends:
  • :alakazam: continues to be a dominant presence, as the most used Pokemon in the tournament, appearing on over half of all teams! We've seen a few different utility and offensive options used on it, including Light Screen, DynamicPunch, Toxic, Thief, the elemental punches, Substitute, and Hidden Power. However, Thunder Wave continues to be the most used move outside of Psychic and Recover, providing excellent utility in slowing down opposing offense and generating free turns.
  • :ursaring: now takes the #2 spot, appearing on more than 25% more teams than Kangaskhan and showing itself to be the preferred Normal-type at the moment. Most continue to be the mono-attacker set, with rare appearances of Roar and Earthquake.
  • :qwilfish: comes in at #3. Teams seem to value Spikes more heavily than in the previous tournament. Curse has been the preferred last move, being used on 53.85% of Qwilfish sets, with Haze only being used once.
  • :espeon: has been used quite a few times, showing its power as a dangerous Growth sweeper either on its own or as part of Baton Pass strategies.
  • :haunter: has had more of a presence than in the first GSC UUBL tournament, making 4 appearances already, and notably walling the mono-attacking Ursaring that comprise many teams' preferred Normal-type.
