Earthquake hits Steel-types like Empoleon and Hisuian Goodra that resist Gyarados's STAB moves. Moxie gives Gyarados the potential to snowball if not dealt with in time. Gyarados appreciates entry hazards set by partners like Krookodile and Jirachi, wearing down physical walls like Galarian Weezing and Slowbro, and allowing Gyarados to tear through a weakened team with Moxie. Slither Wing and Magnezone are especially valuable teammates, as they can threaten checks like Slowbro and provide safe entry points with pivot support while weakening switch-ins and making it easier for Gyarados to get the Moxie boost.
