Half raindance team

Heres my team. Its half raindance but im worried that im not really taking advantage of the rain enough. I know there are better pokes to use then these but im tired of OU filled teams. Let me know how bad/good you think it is. Any comments are appreciated,

Zangoose

Jolly 255/ATK 255/SPD
@focus sash

Swords dance
shadow claw
Strength
Close combat

My lead sweeper. SD if I predict a switch. Switch or just attack if its a bad match up. Not much to say. Self explanatory.

Roserade

Modest 255/spATK 255/SPD
@peteya berry

Energy ball
Substitute
Sludge bomb
Shadow ball/Weather ball?

My special sweeper. Sub to power up the already great spATK. Should I go with weather ball to take advantage of raindance? If I do other grass types completely wall me though.

Dusknoir

Impish 255/spDEF 255/DEF (im not sure if this is the actual ev's I used. It's been awhile...)
@Leftovers

shadow sneak
thunder punch
pain split
will-o-wisp

A standard Dusk. He serves as a good wall to alot of attacks. Good for switching in when Zangoose is about to be hit by a fighting attack.

Qwilfish

Adamant-255/ATK 100/SPD? 155/HP? (again I cant remember what I did exactly but I know I put alot more ev's into HP then SPD)
Ability-Swift swim
@Damp rock

Waterfall
Poison jab
Explosion
Rain dance

Very fun to use. Rain boosts its speed 2x so this can outspeed alot of pokes. Rain boosts my other poke's water attacks. Explosion is a nice surprise when your about to be KO'd.

Milotic

Milotic

Calm 255/HP 255/spDEF
@Leftovers

Surf
Recover
Toxic
Ice beam

Just a special wall who can benefit slightly from the rain. Serves as a special attacker when I need it. Not much to say.

Sharpedo

Adamant 255/ATK 255/SPD
@choice band

Waterfall
Earthquake
Crunch
Ice fang

A banded physical attacker that can take advantage of that rain. Maybe scarf is a better choice? Its already powerfull but its speed is just mediocre.

Well, you obviously need more swift swimmers and need to abuse the rain more. Stuff like kingdra, ludicolo, kabutops, and floatzel can work under the rain. Freligatr and gyarados can be used as well, since they have dragon dance to boost their speeds and waterfall can really hurt after a dragon dance or two. Sharpedo shouldn't really be used, as there are better options than it.

Also, you need something sturdier to set up the rain; bronzong with damp rock works can do the trick.

When rain dance wears off, you can abuse the lack of sandstorm/hail too. You can try blaziken and use a endure/reversal set, though blaziken obviously doesn't benefit from the rain.

I don't have much knowledge about rain dance themed teams, especially since I'm new to D/P battling, but I hope what I said helps.

I think this team at the moment is a bit of a muddle. You have at best 3 Pokemon that can take advantage of the rain, two of which only get one move boosted, and one of which has expended half its enegry in setting it up only to explode on something. It might as well just explode without the rain, and if you want something to just explode, I always think that a Scarf Metagross is best for that.

My Main point is that your team is very muddled, for example Zangoose has a better STAB option in Return, which is better than Strength, as it has the same accuracy but more base power. Roserade is a late set-up sweeper but isn't that fast, and you haven't really explained how you are going to get rid of faster threats that threaten to stop the sweep...

Now What I honestly suggest is that you re-think this team, and build it around a strategy. You can't just lump 6 Pokemon together and call it a team. Harsh as it sounds but that's really what this is. You need to come up with a strategy (Kingdra sweep etc...) and then you need to come up with ideas as to how to help that (Sub Seed Ludicolo to deal with Bulky Waters, perhaps CB Duggy to get rid of TTar who tries to ruin your strategy)

Anyway that's all that I really have to say on this one. Good Luck in whatever you do.

Yeah your right. I just took 6 pokes I had and threw them all together. This is probably the only team I ever put some thought into though. There are better pokes I have that I could use. Gyra over Sharpedo or Infernape over Zangoose. That would just be the same boring stuff though...

I understand what you are saying, and I'm not saying that you should use Standards. I am simply saying that you should look at what the strategy you want to employ is, before making your team. For example, you could make a rain Dance Team, but make sure that you have 3-4 pokemon that can take advantage of that and then a few others that cover your weaknesses, like the ones I suggested. Or find another strategy and build a team like that. All I'm saying is that if you don't have some sort of plan, your team probably wont work 9 times out of 10
