Happy birthday Pokemon D/P

Well, well, well. It's been a whole year since D/P has been released.

I started off my journey right away after getting it from Circuit City (for $27.99, just as I predicted), picking the female as usual and choosing Chimchar because of the paucity of Fire types in Sinnoh. Due to frustrations about getting lost in Victory Road, I didn't beat the E4 until July, and that was only because there was that Gamestop tournament the next day and I wanted my third-generation ubers in there (the host banned ubers but allowed Latios and Latias, oh yeah).

Personally find D/P to be too "slow" battle wise to want to seriously tackle the Tower. A lack of a better and other battle areas in the Battle Park also weigh in. I have much more fun taking on the Frontier in Emerald.

As this doesn't pertain to competitive playing I've opened it here.

I looked around for damn Defog forever. I've got to start talking to more NPCs when I play games like this.

And upon my first time tackling the E4, I began to despise Bronzong. (I had no fire types because I didn't pick the fire starter and I hate Rapidash.)

I went to a GameSpot to purchase my game. I chatted with the clerk who was apparently also a smogoner. I don't think I had signed up yet at this point so I didn't ask his smogon name. Anyway we just talked about the game and whatnot and I came home to play it.

I popped in the game into my new DS that I had bought with it and started playing. I thought my game was frozen at first when I couldn't get the gyarados screen off. I got my pokemon with the cool animation and began my journey.

The first gym was easy as always and I quickly won with my piplup.

The second gym was just as easy and I won with piplup and staravia

I never got to the third gym. I thought it was hearthome and stayed their for hours looking for new secrets. In the meantime I learned more competitive battling.

I restarted. It was a sad day for me especially since I did not know that you had to press select, b, down (I think) to start a new file. So I got to hearthome again with 4 level 30's ... and could not save.

I didn't play again until a week or two later when I figured out how to save and the third gym. From there I dominated with my new team of Infernape + Steelix + Bibarel + Honchkrow + Staraptor + Blissey

I made it to the Elite 4 and after 7 tries I finally beat cynthia.

I was crowned Champion of the pokemon world

Hahahaha, I didn't even know Defog existed and went through most of the game without it. It was extremely tedious having to fight through fog and see attacks miss. I also made the mistake of having a full party of Pokemon to face Dialga, which meant I had to get out, bike to the next exit, fly to the next city, and check the PC to see if the Dialga was Modest or not.

the first time i went through the game i didn't know defog existed either. looking back i really don't know how i got through the foggy areas of the game without the HM

When I started, I picked up my starter, didn't know anthing about EVs, IVs, etc. Now I need to get my Infernape wiped since I see "Proud of it's power" :D. I think that DP is wayyyy to slow, and trainer battles are tedious.
