Quality Control Hawlucha [QC:1/2]

OatIsHere

OatIsHere

is an official Team Rater
:sv/Hawlucha:
[SET]
Sweeper (Hawlucha) @ Psychic Seed
Ability: Unburden
EVs: 132 HP / 252 Atk / 124 Spe
Tera Type: Fire / Electric
Adamant Nature
- Swords Dance
- Close Combat
- Acrobatics
- Taunt

[SET COMMENTS]

Hawlucha excels as one of Psychic Terrain's most prominent sweepers, as a result of an excellent STAB combination alongside the Speed boost from Unburden. Taunt allows for Hawlucha to set up against walls such as Toxapex, Clodsire, and Skeledirge, by disabling the use of status as well as recovery moves. 124 Speed EVs allows it to outspeed Sand Rush Excadrill in Sand as well as threats like Battle Bond Greninja at +1. Tera Fire prevents burn by foes such as Rotom-Wash and Talonflame and gives it a resistance to Fairy-type moves from Gardevoir and Fezandipiti. Alternatively, Tera Electric grants it a resistance to Electric-type moves from Rotom-Wash, Thundurus-T, and Sandy Shocks, as well as paralysis attempts from Pokemon such as Slowking, Coballion, and Rotom-Wash.

As a result of running Psychic Seed, Indeedee is an invaluable partner that can set Psychic Terrain for Hawlucha, while also having access to Encore to grant Hawlucha set up opportunities. Armarouge and Latios are valuable partners, being able to pressure some of Hawlucha's checks such as Skarmory, Rotom-Wash, and Toxapex. The latter is also to pivot Hawlucha in safely via Flip Turn against targets such as Tyranitar and Heatran. Entry hazards from Pokemon such as Excadrill and Donphan are appreciated, being able to weaken Skarmory and Rotom-Wash in range of Close Combat at +2. Hawlucha's main role on Psychic Terrain is to sweep during the endgame, so Pokemon such as Weavile, Metagross, and Conkeldurr are useful for weakening shared checks such as Skarmory and Rotom-Wash and removing items such as Rocky Helmet and Leftovers.
