[SET]
Unburden Sweeper (Hawlucha) @ Electric Seed / Grassy Seed / Psychic Seed
Ability: Unburden
EVs: 96 HP / 252 Atk / 36 SpD / 124 Spe
Tera Type: Flying / Electric
Adamant Nature
- Swords Dance
- Close Combat
- Acrobatics
- Substitute / Encore
[SET COMMENTS]
Hawlucha features as a threatening setup sweeper on Terrain teams with its high Speed boosted by Unburden and great offensive STAB move combination. Substitute is the premier choice, as it enables Hawlucha to take advantage of passive foes like Ferrothorn, Alomomola, and Landorus-T and punish the foes it forces to switch out by setting up. Encore is an alternative option that turns setup sweepers like Swords Dance Gliscor into setup fodder and locks defensive pieces like Alomomola and Corviknight into status moves. Tera Flying removes Hawlucha's weakness to Psychic- and Fairy-type foes like Iron Crown, Clefable, and Iron Valiant and makes Acrobatics a terrifying STAB move that OHKOes Zamazenta with Dauntless Shield active and Landorus-T after Stealth Rock at +2. Tera Electric, on the other hand, makes Hawlucha resist Electric-type moves, notably Thunderclap from Raging Bolt, and it also allows Hawlucha to ignore Static from Zapdos and benefit from Terrain effects. The given EVs can allow Hawlucha to take a Moonblast from Clefable and outspeed Excadrill in sand. A good Terrain setter like Tapu Koko, Rillaboom, or Tapu Lele is necessary for Hawlucha to sweep. Tapu Koko can either set up dual screens to help Hawlucha set up or threaten Water- and Flying-types like Alomomola, Corviknight, and Tornadus-T for it. Rillaboom also helps with aforementioned Water-types and Landorus-T for Hawlucha. Both of them can pressure Dondozo for Hawlucha and pivot it in. Tapu Lele, on the other hand, enables an even more offensive playstyle with teammates like Armarouge, Iron Crown, and Polteageist for Hawlucha, which tears the opponent's defensive core in a pinch with powerful special attacks and appreciates Hawlucha threatening Steel-types like Heatran and Ferrothorn. Hawlucha dislikes foes that punish contact moves, such as Rocky Helmet Landorus-T, Zapdos, and Volcarona, which makes Knock Off support from the likes of Rillaboom and Iron Valiant greatly appreciated. Due to its mediocre offensive stats, it also benefits from wallbreakers with immediate power like Choice Specs Iron Valiant and Tapu Lele. Hawlucha is prone to priority move users like Raging Bolt and Weavile before Terastallizing, so it is useful to have teammates like Iron Valiant and Tapu Lele to threaten them.
