Hawlucha @ Grassy Seed
Ability: Unburden
EVs: 72 HP / 252 Atk / 60 SpD / 124 Spe
Tera Type: Steel
Adamant Nature
- Swords Dance
- Acrobatics
- Close Combat
- Encore

All Hawlucha needed was for Rillaboom to show up! Swords Dance Hawlucha functions as a late-game cleaner on offensive Grassy Terrain teams by using Unburden to outspeed the entire unboosted metagame, including Sand Rush Excadrill in sand. Encore creates Swords Dance opportunities by locking targets such as Alomomola, Clefable, and Corviknight into using passive moves. The HP and Special Defense EVs let Hawlucha survive Gholdengo’s Make It Rain from full health, preventing a revenge kill. Tera Steel gives Hawlucha immunity to Pecharunt's Malignant Chain and lets it resist Dragonite’s Extreme Speed while also giving it setup opportunities against Fairy-types like Hatterene and Clefable. Rillaboom is mandatory alongside this set, as it overwhelms shared checks like Zapdos while Grassy Surge enables Hawlucha's Grassy Seed. Early-game wallbreakers like Raging Bolt, Darkrai, and Ogerpon-W help wear down Hawlucha’s checks, either pressuring or forcing damage against physical walls such as Zapdos, Moltres, Gholdengo, and Pecharunt, making it much easier for Hawlucha to clean late-game. Heatran and Deoxys-S can provide entry hazard support, with Heatran forcing progress against Corviknight and Skarmory.

Hawlucha @ Grassy Seed
Ability: Unburden
EVs: 72 HP / 252 Atk / 60 SpD / 124 Spe
Tera Type: Steel / Flying / Electric (please follow the set posted on the reservation thread, especially because 3 options is way too much for spotlights)
Adamant Nature
- Swords Dance
- Acrobatics
- Close Combat

All Hawlucha needed was for Rillaboom to show up and click U-turn! (SD rilla is also a relevant partner for lucha and those dont click uturn) (mention lucha's role in the tier first and firemost here as the first sentence [i.e. what does it do/provide] and from there you can segue into the unburden point of the next sentence more smoothly) Consuming Grassy Seed activates Unburden, letting Hawlucha outspeed the entire unboosted metagame, even Sand Rush Excadrill in Sandstorm. The Special Defense EVs let it survive Gholdengo’s Make It Rain from full, (move this in the back instead before teammates since it's not the most relevant thing about the lucha set to be talked about in the 2nd sentence) and Encore creates Swords Dance opportunities by locking targets into passive moves such as Alomomola using Wish, Pecharunt using Recover, or Kyurem using Substitute. (idt kyu will click sub in front of lucha nor is hard switching lucha on the sub turn very safe; can mention something like corv clicking ID instead) Tera Flying further boosts Acrobatics to pick off threats like Great Tusk and Zamazenta, while Close Combat breaks through Steel and Rock-types like Iron Treads and Garganacl. (dont really need to explain stab moves; you dont "run these moves to hit these threats", but you "run lucha because its stab moves hit hard and covers a lot") Tera Steel lets Hawlucha stomach Kyurem’s STAB attacks and Dragonite’s Extreme Speed, (+ gives you setup on fairies like hatt & clef) while Tera Electric prevents paralysis and helps it tank Raging Bolt’s Thunderclap. Rillaboom is mandatory on this set, as Grassy Surge activates Hawlucha’s Grassy Seed and its U-turn brings Hawlucha in safely. (mention how it overwhelms a shared check in zapdos) Partners like Heatran or Deoxys-Speed can provide hazard support, with Heatran forcing progress against Corviknight and Skarmory and Deoxys-Speed getting hazards up or denying leads with Taunt. (you already mention how deoS sets hazards + anti hazard measure with taunt is the least relevant concern for lucha considering mon is very resilient against hazards) Alolan Ninetales can provide Aurora Veil support, (veil + gterrain is the least standard of gterrain variants) while Raging Bolt pressures Zapdos and Moltres. (good example but i want you to include it alongside other early game wallbreakers in general, like watepron and darkrai, since those are basically necessary for lucha)

Recently, StoredPowerTrip peaked #39 on the Gen 9 OU ladder using this Hawlucha set! Check out their RMT and Pokepaste of the team below:

RMT - https://www.smogon.com/forums/threa...rain-ho-peaked-1881-39.3775798/#post-10820814
Poképaste - https://pokepast.es/6fa391a143c4c519
Replay - https://replay.pokemonshowdown.com/gen9ou-2510989524

(these are way too much links for us to feature--we also generally showcase tour games as the replays instead of ladder games, and since the last tours [also the replay & team you posted] are pre-tera blast ban then i think we can keep this part blank it's fine)
Please implement this carefully, and lmk once you did.

my apologies for writing this so clunky before, there's an existing analysis page on smogon, which highlighted alot of this (idef corv, the partners etc.) so i wanted to switch it up(?) to avoid plagirism

the new changed have been implimented Marnie C:

All Hawlucha needed was for Rillaboom to show up! Swords Dance Hawlucha functions as a late-game cleaner on hyper offense offensive Grassy Terrain (only used on a specific variant of offense so made it explicitly clear here) teams using Unburden to outspeed the entire unboosted metagame, including Sand Rush Excadrill in sand. Encore creates Swords Dance opportunities by locking targets into passive moves such as Alomomola using Wish, Clefable using Moonlight, or Corviknight using Iron Defense. The Special Defense bulk (since it's for that specific combination of hp + spdef) EVs let Hawlucha live Gholdengo’s Make It Rain from full, preventing a revenge kill. Tera Steel lets Hawlucha stomach Kyurem’s STAB attacks Pecharunt's Malignant Chain (more relevant matchup) and Dragonite’s Extreme Speed while also giving it setup opportunities against Fairy-types like Hatterene and Clefable. Rillaboom is mandatory on this set, as Grassy Surge enables Hawlucha's Grassy Seed and subsequently Unburden, and pressures overwhelms shared checks like Zapdos with Knock Off, making it easier to wear down with hazards. Partners like Heatran or Deoxys-Speed can provide hazard support, with Heatran forcing progress against Corviknight and Skarmory. Early-game wallbreakers like Raging Bolt, Darkrai, and Ogerpon-Wellspring help wear down Hawlucha’s checks, either pressuring or forcing damage against bulky Flying-types like Zapdos and Moltres while breaking through (them being flying type has less relevancy in this context so just combining it with the other physdef mons on this list) physical walls such as Dondozo, Alomomola, (cutting down examples for more relevant ones) Zapdos, Moltres, Gholdengo, and Pecharunt making it much easier for Hawlucha to clean late-game. Heatran or Deoxys-Speed can provide hazard support, with Heatran forcing progress against Corviknight and Skarmory. (wallbreakers are more relevant so moving hazard setters to the back)
much cleaner. did a lot of trimming due to character count. same colors 1/1

thank you, implimented <3

> become immune to Pecharunt's Malignant Chain

changed stomach to become immune to aswell

This was a bit too long post-GP (at around 1060 chars), so I made some changes to remove the move examples in the Encore set (leaving just the Pokemon targets). If this is essential information lmk and I can try to cut something else. After you make these changes it'll be at around 1030, which is acceptable. Thanks
