Hello everyone, welcome to my first UU RMT´s. I already posted several topics in the OU board, but I´m kinda hating on Politoed and Ninetales so I wanted to try a new metagame, and I am not dissapointed =). UU is a great tier to play in and I hope it will be that way. Anyway, let´s go to the real stuff:
The teambuilding.
When I start building a team, I almost always look for a defensive core. Togekiss is able to shrugg of a lot of attacks, and Slowbro can take hits fairly well on the physical side. Slowbro and Togekiss also have good type synergy, so that´s cool. They make a good defensive core, and Togekiss is also a great team supporter with Heal Bell.
I always wanted to try Emboar out, since it´s got a pretty cool movepool and can be quite dangerous after a Flame Charge.
Since Emboar doesn´t get a lot of coverage since it has to sacrifice a slot for Flame Charge, I added LO Nidoking because of his amazing coverage and to make sure I had both special and physical power.
Now al I needed was a revenge killer. I always wanted to test out Icicle Spear Scarfed Mamoswine, and he filled up my revenge killer slot
As for my lead, I chose Roserade. It gave me a pretty cool FWG core, andalso provided hazard support for the team, something I was missing, and it´s also able to switch into those nasty Toxic Spikes, something wich Slowbro absolutely hates.
So, the team was doing decently, but not that good. I threw it into the Marriland teambuilder, and noticed I had some key weaknesses to Psychic, Ice and Water. I also had 2 weaknesses to flying, with no resistance, so stuff had to be changed. Emboar was the sorce of my Psychic and Flying weak, so I replaced him with Sheer Force Darmanitan, adding a second Sheer Forcer to the team. And also, I hated I couldn´t use fucking Reckless on it.
Now for the Water weak. I didn´t want to replace Mamo because I just replaced him and he made the FWG core, and I didn´t want to replace Nidoking either because he was doing an amazing job. So Mamoswine had to leave the stage. I´m sory Mamo, you will be missed. Since I now needed a revenge killer, and a Fire resistance would also be pretty cool, I decided to go for Azumarill, even though I already have a Water type in the form of Slowbro.
With two Water types and a flying type in my team, the Electric weak was raising. Luckily for that, I had a resister and an immunity. But, they were both weak to Ice, as well as Togekiss, making me extremely vulnerable to the BoltBeam combo. Togekiss left the stage, and Chansey replaced her.
Azumarill was a little underwhelming to be honest. Aqua Jet is just a to weak move itself. Noticing I don't have a set-up sweeper yet, I replaced him with Alakazam and slapped a Scarf onto Darmanitan to make sure I could revenge kill.
A closer look.
Roserade (M) @ Focus Sash
Trait: Natural Cure
EVs: 4 HP / 252 SAtk / 252 Spd
Timid Nature (+Spd, -Atk)
- Sludge Bomb
- Leaf Storm
- Sleep Powder
- Toxic Spikes
Roserade is my lead (not that leads really exist nowadays, but ah well). With a Focus Sash, she is sure to lay down at least one layer of Toxic Spikes, or two. Sleep Powder is generally for leads that are slower than me and I can´t KO, such as CB Escavalier. Leaf Storm is insanely strong 140 BP STAB move, OHKO´ing almost anything that is weak to it. Sludge Bomb is a second STAB move with gives decent overall coverage with Leaf Storm. Spore leads such as Amoonguss are no problem either, thanks to the awesome Natural Cure. The EVs are standard, lay down those TSpikes as fast as possible and hit as hard as possible. Roserade is also handy for switching into those stinky Toxic Spikes, something that Slowbro absolutely hates.
Nidoking (M) @ Life Orb
Trait: Sheer Force
EVs: 4 HP / 252 SAtk / 252 Spd
Timid Nature (+Spd, -Atk)
- Earth Power
- Flamethrower
- Ice Beam
- Thunderbolt
Oh my god Nidoking I love you. Probably the MVP of the team, Nidoking has amazing coverage. His lack of a high base SpA gets nullified thanks to the boosts of Sheer Force and Life Orb. Life Orb is obviously a must, since I don´t recieve any recoil on moves that gets boosted by Sheer Force. Earth Power is STAB, hitting hard for neutral damage and killing those pesky Fire, Steel and Rock types. Ice Beam and Thunderbolt makes the amazing BeamBolt combination for perfect coverage with Earth Power and Flamethrower, killing those Bug types and other stuff that´s weak to fire. Nidoking can hit almost anything for SE damage or at least neutral damage (fuck you Rotom-H).
Chansey (F) @ Eviolite
Trait: Natural Cure
EVs: 252 HP / 252 Def / 4 SDef
Bold Nature (+Def, -Atk)
- Wish
- Heal Bell
- Seismic Toss
- Thunder Wave
Chansey makes an excellent mixed wall for the team, especially on the special side. Since it´s defence is kinda pathetic, I maxed out it´s Defence and gave it a Bold nature to make it take hits fairly well on the physical side. It can even survive a +1 Flare Blitz from Darmanitan. Chansey is the glue of the team, the one that makes sure everything keeps running as it should. Wish is to not only heal itself, but also it´s teammates that are low on HP. Wish made me win so many games, recovering Roserade to law down the second layer of TSpikes, healing up Slowbro to make sure Machamp didn´t swept me, etc. Heal Bell is another amazing move, healing all of my teams status and make sure my sweepers and walls don´t get crippled. Nobody likes a burned Azumarill on their team. Seismic Toss is to deal a solid 100 damage, and works fairly well since a lot of Pokemon in UU have a fairly low HP, being able to 3HKO most of them. Thunder Wave is a good status move, crippling any fast sweepers that thing they can set up on me, or screwing speed boosters like Sharpedo or Yanmega.
Slowbro (M) @ Leftovers
Trait: Regenerator
EVs: 252 HP / 252 Def / 4 SAtk
Bold Nature (+Def, -Atk)
- Surf
- Psychic
- Slack Off
- Toxic
Since Slowbro can easily take most moves that people throw at Chansey to take her out, it is an excellent defensive partner. Max HP and physical bulk so I have a good special and physical wall. Toxic might seem strange on a team with Toxic Spikes, but I already have paralysis support, and I do not always manage to get those spikes on the field. A poison type can switch in, or they get spinned away. Toxic is also good to outstall enemy´s that I can´t hurt hard enough. Slack Off is a must on a wall like this, and together with both Leftovers and Regenerator, makes very quick healing indeed. Surf is a good STAB move with decent coverage and I prefer it over Scald, since I hate burning an incoming switch that I wanted to Toxic-stall, something that happened way to much with me. Psychic finishes it with an extra STAB move and a good check to take out the fighting types that make a threat to Chansey.
Darmanitan (M) @ Choice Scarf
Trait: Sheer Force
EVs: 4 HP / 252 Atk / 252 Spd
Jolly Nature (+Spd, -SAtk)
- Superpower
- Flare Blitz
- Rock Slide
- U-turn
Darmanitan makes my revenge killer. I was using a LO set first, but since Azumarill was replaced I needed a revenge killer. Darmanitan is not only good for revenge killing, but also to put holes in the enemy team to make sure Alakazam and Nidoking can sweep. Flare Blitz is very strong with Darmanitans high base Attack stat and Sheer Force boost, and makes a dangerous Scarfer. Superpower is for coverage against Rock and Dark types. Rock Slide is equal in power to Stone Edge thanks to Sheer Force, but it is more accurate. U-turn is for scouting and to gain switch advantages on my enemy.
Alakazam (M) @ Life Orb
Trait: Magic Guard
EVs: 4 HP / 252 SAtk / 252 Spd
Timid Nature (+Spd, -Atk)
- Calm Mind
- Psyshock
- Focus Blast
- Shadow Ball
Alakazam is my only set up sweeper but it is probably one of the best, if not the best in UU. I even use it in most of my OU teams so yeah. Magic Guard is amazing sice it negates Life Orb recoil, and thanks to his amazing Special Attack stat, he can sweep after just one Calm Mind . With Psyshock, Shadow Ball and Focus Miss I get perfect neutral coverage so I can hit anything at least neutral. Psyshock over Psychic so I can set up on Chansey´s that run Toxic and then take them out with a Psyshock.
Importable for all yo thieves :)
RATES, GO.
