Here Comes the Sun [OU]

Meow :3 I'm trying to get better at competitive battling. At this point I'm still learning how much speed I need to outspeed things and how to spread EVs to 1 or 2 hit KO certain pokemon. For now I'm trying to create a good unified team strategy and have you guys help me from there :O Here's my first shot at a team, it's Sunny Day.

This team uses choice scarfed Typhlosion's Sunny Day boosted Eruptions to decimate opposition. The rest of my team are pokemon that set up Sunny Day (mainly Crobat), protects Typhlosion from being crippled (Hitmonlee), can heal Typhlosion (Vaporeon), and soften attacks Typhlosion is vulnerable to (Cresselia), can switch into things that wall Typhlosion (Rhyperior).

Crobat @ Heat Rock
Jolly Inner Focus
252 HP/ 4 Def/ 252 Spe
-Sunny Day
-Taunt
-U-Turn
-Super Fang

I chose Crobat as my lead for it's speed. I need Sunny Day to power my main sweeper and can prevent stealth rocks from being set up, a move that really hampers Typhlosion who takes 25% damage from it which weakens Eruption. Crobat outspeeds almost everything so I'll be able to have Sunny Day most of the time. After the sun is shining I'll U-Turn out and switch in the appropriate pokemon. I chose to give this Crobat Super Fang because that's the best chance this bat has to deal damage.

Typhlosion @ Choice Scarf
Modest Blaze
4 Def/ 252 SpA/ 252 Spe
-Eruption
-Fire Blast
-Focus Blast
-Solarbeam

The pokemon who this team revolves around. It has a scarf to outspeed pokemon to minimize the damage it takes. Full HP Eruption under the sun reduces pokemon to ashes. Fire Blast is used at low HP or used when I know I'm attacking second and take a big hit and is even stronger than Eruption when Blaze is activated. Focus Blast takes care of Tyranitar, a pokemon who ruins Sunny Day and Heatran and Empoleon who would wall this guy otherwise. Solarbeam covers pesky bulky waters like Swampert and Milotic. Because of the scarf, Typhlosion is switching in and out a lot. 2 of my team members (Vaporeon and Rhyperior) are weak to grass so that's a good opportunity to switch back in.

Hitmonlee @ Life Orb
Jolly Limber
40 Atk/ 252 SpD/ 216 Spe
-Blaze Kick
-Rapid Spin
-Close Combat
-Sucker Punch

2 things Typhlosion will hate are Stealth Rock and Thunderwave. I choose Hitmonlee as my spinner because he can switch into pokemon who attempt to paralyze Typhlosion. Blaze Kick gets a nice boost in Sunny Day. Close Combat is a great powerful STAB move which destroys Heatran, Empoleon and Tyranitar. I give this Hitmonlee max SpD EVs to survive shots from Gengar, Azelf, Latias and Starmie, scarfed pokemon outspeed Typhlosion and who are all SpA oriented, and hopefully I can 2HKO them with Sucker Punch.

Cresellia @ Light Clay
Bold Levitate
Need help with EVs D:
-Reflect
-Lunar Dance/Moonlight?
-Ice Beam
-HP Electric

Surf from Starmie or Latias will be weakened by Sunny Day, so I think Typhlosion is more vulnerable on the physical side. EQ or Stone Edge from Aerodactyl, Flygon and Salamence are a threat. Reflect will soften those blows. The boltbeam-like combination covers a great range and also hits things that can wall Typhlosion. Ice Beam hits dragons and Aerodactyl hard and HP Electric gets rid of Gyarados and Starmie. I'm not sure whether I should use Lunar Dance or Moonlight... Eruption is obviously less powerful at low HP so when Cress is on it's last legs it can use Lunar Dance which breathes life into a battered Typhlosion, and lets me send out another pokemon easily. But Moonlight heals a massive 66% in Sunny Day, and when combined with Cresselia's bulkiness, will make it hard to take down.

Vaporeon @ Heat Rock
Bold Water Absorb
188 HP/ 252 Def/ 68 Spe (help!?)
-Sunny Day
-Wish
-Protect
-Ice Beam

Hey, Vaporeon can use Sunny Day too! It seems like an odd choice for a Sunny Day team, but I think it fits my needs well. If I find myself with Sunny Day ending and having Typhlosion being vulnerable to water, I switch Vappy in (hopefully into a water move) and attempt to set it up again. It also serves an important purpose of keeping Typhlosion (and sometimes other teammates) healthy enough to keep Eruption powerful. Ice Beam, Vaporeon's sole offense, is there to take out the aforementioned troublesome dragons.

Rhyperior @ Leftovers
Adamant Solid Rock
4 HP/ 252 Atk/ 252 Def
-Sunny Day
-Stealth Rock
-Earthquake
-Stone Edge

Typhlosion will probably come very close to OHKOing certain pokemon, so Stealth Rock will be very useful. Rhyperior is also another member of my team that can set up Sunny Day. With Sunny Day and Solid Rock, he can safely switch into Gyarados, which threatens much of my team, and nail it hard with Stone Edge. If Typhlosion is locked into Eruption and faces something like Milotic or Suicune, I'll switch to Rhyperior. Because Rhyperior is resistant to water in the sun, the opponent will likely use an Ice Beam. At this point I switch back to Typhlosion and launch Solarbeams. I'll also try to switch this guy into Explosions.

Constructive criticism and suggestions are greatly appreciated. Even if my team is completely terrible, try not to be rude about it ^__^;

I don't see too much of a problem with it. But that's my opinion, and I'm not very good. Did you scan through the threat list yet?

Having sunny day on vaporeon...not quite the thing. You could have it on tangrowth instead. I reccomend the SD tangrowth set, seeing you don't have many sun abusers. I'll give you a full rate when i get time.

P.S- My RMT has 1,000+ views and 2 legit rates. Don't worry xD you're not the only one.

Hiya!

This seems like a well-themed team, but I would like to ask you: have you actually tested this team on Shoddy? I can see you having A LOT of trouble against a myriad of today's top threats, namely DD sweepers.

Your team relies heavily (and I mean ridiculously HEAVILY) on Cresselia to wall DD Gyara and Mence to defeat them. However, your Cresselia (which needs 252 HP/148 Def/40 SpD/68 Spe, BTW) will most likely have already taken some serious beating from the midgame to barely survive a bombardment from DD Mence / Gyara.

+0 DD Mence Outrage vs Screens Cresselia = 44.6% - 52.7%
+0 DD Mence Outrage vs Screens Cresselia w/ Reflect up= 22.5% - 26.6%

+1 DD Mence Outrage vs Screens Cresselia = 66.4% - 78.4%
+1 DD Mence Outrage vs Screens Cresselia w/ Reflect up = 33.3% - 39.4%
*Calculations assume the aforementioned spread for Cresselia and max attack Mence.

According to the calculations, Cresselia will be 2hkoed by an unboosted Mence, which means that as you switch in while he Outrages, you will have guaranteed Cress' death. However, you will have a chance against the +1, since he will most likely DD on the switch and deal 70% while you 1hko with Ice Beam. But that's not always the case. Like I said earlier, you rely heavily on Cresselia to stop threats like DD Mence.

To help this, I will suggest Scarf Latias somewhere on your team. I would replace it over Vaporeon, since she will keep your synergy relatively the same, and you only have 1 Pokemon abusing the sun (which means that +3 Sunny Day users is overkill).

Another suggestion I would have to say to is: get more Sunny Day abusers!!! You only have 1, which means that all that time you use to set up will be wasted when Typhlosion is dead and you have no back-up Sunny Day sweeper!!! Click here for a list of viable Sunny Day sweepers.

Other than that, I wish you luck.

Try Replacing Vaporeon for This
Tangrowth @ Life Orb
Ability : Clorophyll
EVs : 200 ATK / 80 SP.A / 228 Spe / 29 Hp IVS
Naive
-Power Whip
-Earthquake
-Hidden Power Fire
-Sleep Powder

You Need sun Abuser man.

If you still want a Water poke go with Blastoise, it can spin away all Hazard thinks like SR, Spike, T-Spike will cripple Typloshin from actually doing its job. correctly. Put Hidden Power Rock on Typloshin and get rid of FB, you have Hitmonlee for your fighting.

It up to you i would switch that crobat of something else like a Venasaur. But thats only me

Thanks for your replies

@Misa
Those are scary calculations :O I think having something to counter the DDsweepers will be more beneficial than having Wish support so I'll replace Vaporeon, most likely with the scarf Latias you suggested. I'll probably give Latias Thunderbolt to deal with Gyarados.

@killadav
I would like more sun abusers, but seeing as Chlorophyll pokemon are usually SpA oriented and use grass/fire attacks, I don't really get anymore type coverage. There's also the issue of what to swap out.

BTW I plan to play mostly on Wi-Fi. I spent a few days trying to get a Cress with a good HP Electric, and had to give up .__. Soooo, I looked for a replacement.

Torterra @ Light Clay
Adamant Overgrow
252 HP / 252 Atk/ 4 Def
-Reflect
-Synthesis
-Earthquake
-Wood Hammer

I looked for something similar to the original Cress. A decent defensive pokemon that can use reflect and use a healing move that is more effective in the sun. Torterra fit that bill pretty nicely. This Torterra takes physical hits like a champ, heal it off, and dish out nice damage. But I have no clue if this will work well or not, I'm kinda new at this XD

Further suggestions and criticism will be much appreciated :3
