Here comes the Sun

What's up guys, this is a sun team that i have been using lately and it has had quite a bit of success, I wanted to get your feedback of what you think of the team.

Building the Team

I wanted to base this team off of my favorite pokemon, venusaur, not only is he my favorite pokemon, but he is an extremely dangerous sweeper in the sun and can take out many top-tier threats in ou

Next I needed something that can revenge kill pokemon that wall venusaur and also to take fire and ice type attacks. I thought Snorlax fits the role perfectly, as he can dish out KOs on venusaur checks such as heatran, ferrothorn (my venusaur doesnt run hp fire), and other defensive monsters. Snorlax also works great in the sun for boosts for fire punch.

Next i needed the sun setter itself, ninetales. It supports venusaur to set up, snorlax for fire punch boost, and it boosts it's own STAB, which makes it a hard hitter and a danger to any team unprepared

Next i needed a physical wall and a spinner, donphan suits the role perfectly. it takes hits respectively well and gets rid of the entry hazards that threaten the team. It also takes hits snorlax doesn't appreciate sun as terrakion's close combat.

Next i needed a guy to set up stealth rocks, take hits for snorlax, and a check for gliscor/landorus. Bronzong is perfect for this, as it can take hits for days, and only has the weakness to fire type attacks, which snorlax can take for him. gliscor can literally do nothing to him, as well as landorus if it is not running gravity, which is such a rare sight to see.

Next, i needed a true fire-type sun abuser. At first it was victini because of the typing, but i thought acranine suited the role better because it packs more of a punch and has intimidate, which hinders physical attackers such as scizor and mence from doing work. He works as a secondary revenge killer in case snorlax has fainted because of taking one-too many hits.

Venusaur@ Life Orb
Trait: Chlorophyll
252 SpA, 252 Spe, 4 hp
Modest Nature
-Growth
-Giga Drain
-Hp Ice
-Sleep Powder

As said earlier, venusaur is the most dangerous sun sweeper in the ou metagame. Growth is for setting up, reaching an astonishing 981 special attack stat in one turn (with life orb). Giga Drain serves as a STAB attack, and gets back a little health which is always nice to have. I use Hp ice over hp fire because this team LACKS dragon type coverage, the only other thing that this team has to even hit dragons is bronzong's hp ice.

Snorlax@ Choice Band
Trait: Thick Fat
252 Atl, 176 SpD, 80 hp
Adamant Nature
-Body Slam
-EQ
-Fire Punch
-Pursuit

Snorlax has to be another great addition to this team. it destroys threats to this team such as heatrans, t-tars, genesects, ferrothorns, etc. Not only that, it sponges fire and ice type attacks for the team. Body slam is a powerful STAB attack that does a huge chunk of damage plus the beneficial paralysis. Earthquake takes care of heatrans, t-tars, and other bulky threats to this team. Fire punch gets the sun boost and makes ferrothorns and genesects wish they were never put onto this planet. Lastly, Pursuit deals with latios, latias, and any other thing that will want to run away from this massive offensive threat.

Ninetales@ Choice Specs
Trait: Drought
252 SpA, 252 spe, 4 hp
Timid Nature
-Overheat
-Energy Ball
-Hp Fighting
-Flamethower

The Sun setter of the team, probably venusaur's most important pal for any troubles he faces. He sets the sun for venusaur and has great offensive coverage with him, Overheat is the main attack to be used from this guy, as it hits extremely hard with Stab specs and a sun boost. The most dangerous move on this set. Energy ball hits those ground and water types that give ninetales trouble, but venusaur can cover those guys. Hp fighting hits those t-tars and heatrans. i may have too many things to hit heatran and t-tar on this team, haha, but i just want them gone. Flamethrower is a safer option to use over overheat.

Arcanine@ Life orb
Trait: Intimidate
252 atk, 252 spe, 4 hp
Adamant Nature
-Flare Blitz
-Extremespeed
-Close Combat
-Morning Sun/Wild Charge/ Crunch

Arcanine is an absolute powerhouse, i was unable to resist using him. He has impeccable coverage and an amazing ability that shuts down physical sweepers and powerhouses. His Flare Blitz in the sun will be doing massive damage to anything. Extremespeed will hit faster threats who are running low on hp, close combat covers t-tars, heatrans, acranine hits t-tar harder while snorlax covers heatran. After all of that recoil damage, This guy NEEDS to heal up, morning sun covers that, and brings arcanine back to near-full health in the sun. Wild charge and crunch both hit jellicent, but i prefer to use morning sun. Overall, Arcanine is an offensive beast in the sun and can clean up the field in late-game.

Bronzong@Leftovers
Trait: Levitate
252 hp, 40 atk, 80 def, 44 spA, 92 SpD
Sassy Nature
-Stealth rock
-Gyro Ball
-HP Ice
-Sunny Day

Finally! We've passed the hyper offense for the team and now we're getting down to support. Without this bronzong, this whole team would be vulnerable to landorus and gliscor and other threats. i dont run full 84 attack evs on bronzong because i use hp ice..... why do i need to put all of those evs to waste on one stat? Stealth rock is for hazards, gyro ball hits fast attackers such has tornadus t, hp ice hits gliscor, landorus, and dragons. Sunny day is to surprise the opposing weather team and get sun up and eliminate their weather.

Donphan@Leftovers
Trait: Sturdy
252 hp, 4 atk, 252 def
impish nature
-EQ
-Rapid Spin
-Ice Shard/Fire Fang/Seed bomb
-Toxic

Donphan is the main spinner of this team. I use this guy over forretress because it can stand up better to it's own threats, plus EVEN MORE HEATRAN AND T-TAR COVERAGE!!!!! Anyways, Rapid spin is to get rid of those dangerous hazards that threaten the team, EQ is STAB that will be doing a decent amont to anything. Ice shard is to clean up dragon type sweepers from doing anything, fire fang for ferrothorn, and seed bomb for bulky water types. toxic is for inflicting some nice status on anything that doesn't appreciate it.

Threats: I have not found many threats for this team yet, but one notable one i found is volcarona, if there are no rocks up and snorlax is gone, this team is going to get utterly decimated by it.

Nice team dude

First things first Ninetales has no business running a Specs set. Its unfortunate but true, you want Ninetales to last as long as it can and so I recommend you switch it to a bulkier set. I'd recommend:

038.png

Ninetales @ Leftovers
Trait: Drought
EVs: 252 HP / 120 SDef / 136 Spd
Calm Nature
- Roar
- Will-O-Wisp
- Pain Split
- Flamethrower

This set makes a brilliant check to threats like CM Latias and Reuniclus and can actually win weather wars. Its special bulk lets it take weak Scalds and other non-boosted special hits and Will-O-Wisp lets it burn Tyranitars and Hippowdons.

Secondly while Bronzong is a phenomenal pokemon, in the Sun its weakness to Fire-type attacks is increased. Pokemon that it aims to counter have a much easier time exploited the doubled weakness. Dragons and Tornadus-T can all abuse Fire-type attacks such as Fire Blast and Heat Wave to remove it. Because of this I recommend replacing Bronzong with Rotom-W. The set I suggest is:

479-wash.png

Rotom-Wash @ Leftovers
Trait: Levitate
EVs: 252 HP / 4 SAtk / 252 SDef
Calm Nature
- Volt Switch
- Hydro Pump
- Will-O-Wisp
- Pain Split

This set plays fairly similarly to your Bronzong without the extra Fire weakness. It also brings another Water resistance which is very key on a Sun team. Rotom-W provides a top notch check to problematic pokemon such as Rain Dance Tornadus-T and Rock Polish Landorusm while also providing numerous, useful, resistances.

Arcanine really isn't bringing anything to your team. It actually is a determent at the moment as it increases your weaknesses brought on by Ninetales. (Why couldn't they have given Drought to Arcanine :/) You've also lost your Stealth Rock setter if you replace Bronzong with Rotom-W. For those reasons recommend replacing Arcanine with Heatran. The set I suggest is:

485.png

Heatran @ Air Balloon
Trait: Flash Fire
EVs: 252 Spd / 252 SAtk / 4 SDef
Timid Nature
- Fire Blast
- Earth Power
- Stealth Rock
- Toxic

A premier Sun team pokemon, and for good reason. It provides a powerful Fire immunity and checks dangerous pokemon such as Volcarona. It also brings a crucial Dragon-type resistance and Stealth Rock, which you were missing from Bronzong.

Also try a Timid Nature and Sludge Bomb over Hidden Power Ice on Venasaur, at +2 Sludge Bomb OHKOs even the OU Dragons after Stealth Rocks; Timid Nature makes you don't get revenge killed by Choice Scarf Lati@s. Hope that helps, props for using Snorlax

Good Luck!
